A bridesmaid finds a young woman dead in the toilet at a wedding, Cue the investigation into her death that forms the story. There is very little to go on and hence the story builds slowly - too slowly for my liking.
The characters annoyed me early on, an adult woman called ‘baby’ by her family and friends, a spoilt little Diva. Her new husband who allowed her to control him. Her parents both equally unlikable in their different ways. The mystery unfolds - slowly - but by the time I got to the end I just didn’t care anymore.
I’ve never read any of the Alex Delaware series before and this wouldn’t tempt me to try again. Sorry, but just not for me.

Classy thriller from this established author. The pace is maintained right to the end and it really is a brain teaser. I for one didn’t work it out.

Characters are all well developed and mostly sympathetic and I love the domestic scenes which pepper the book to bring us back to reality.

Always a thrill to read Mr Kellerman’s work and this did not disappoint

I should start by saying that I'm a huge Jonathan Kellerman fan and have been for years. I've read all of his Alex and Milo books and as this is book 34 they feel like old friends now.

The content of this is pure JK and I loved it. The partnership of Alex and Milo are like old slippers, comfortable and predictable, but, in a good way. The story begins with a woman's body being discovered at a wedding and the book then follows Milo (lead detective) and Alex (consultant psychologist) as they attempt to solve it.
This may not be the slickest, fastest drama, but, with JK's writing it's all the better, more to savour, like a good wine.

The bit that grates slightly is, would a seasoned detective really be constantly looking to a psychologist (however friendly they may be) to tell him what to do whilst working a murder? There were times when the relationship appeared to veer into subordinate and boss, rather than someone in an advisor role. However, that apart, it's a good read.

The pairing of these two and their history mean that it's definitely a benefit to have read the previous books, but, as there are so many, you may be relieved to know that this does stand alone. Do read the others though, they're fab!

Unfortunately I could not read this book as the formatting was all over the place, words were split over 2 sentences, sometimes it didn't even make sense so I'm not sure if it's even in proper order. This was disappointing as I was was very excited for this new Jonathan Kellerman

When a young woman is found murdered at a wedding reception Milo asks Alex to consult because, despite her designer dress and shoes, the woman wasn’t a guest and none of the other guests recognise her. With no ID identifying her becomes their main priority.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Wedding Guest which is another absorbing thriller with a plot full of twists and red herrings. I have been reading this series from the start so the arch of the plot is no surprise, Milo focusing on the wrong suspect, but it didn’t spoil my reading pleasure in the slightest as, even knowing this, I couldn’t spot the perpetrator. I like the way Mr Kellerman builds his plot with Alex making connections between seemingly random events and building them, eventually, into a cohesive whole. The novel held my attention throughout and I found myself longing to get back to it when I had to put it down, desperate to know what would come next.

After so many novels Alex and Milo are like old friends so it’s easy to slot back into their world. The novel is mostly Alex’s first person narrative but he’s such a cool, rational individual it can be hard to identify with him. Milo’s the man. He’s smart but somehow seems more human and alive so people like him. I always think of him as an exuberant puppy but that minimises the problems he’s encountered and conquered as an openly gay man in the macho world of LAPD.

The Wedding Guest is a good read which I have no hesitation in recommending.

Great book in the Alex Delaware series. Love the characters...especially the dog. Alex and Milo are a great team...keep it up Mr. Kellerman.

A bridesmaid at a wedding reception finds a young woman dead in the bathroom. Nobody on the bride’s or groom’s side seems to know her. In come crime-solving duo psychologist Alex Delaware and Detective Milo Sturgis … apparently well known to readers as this is the 34th book about them!

I had not ready any of these novels previously but the author was very capable of allowing this to be enjoyed as a stand-alone whodunnit. I must admit I found it a little slow, not helped by not being drawn to any of the main characters or even feeling some connection with the detecting duo, about whom, sadly, little was really revealed about them as people or characters. More generously, perhaps, it would be fair to say that what did come over was a kind of quiet companionship between the two as well as Milo with his team of detectives. Quite a nice feel, even if a little lacking in interest.

I guess my summary of this is ‘a nice gentle whodunnit/murder mystery’ but not one that makes me want to learn more about the undynamic duo or rush out to buy other books from the series.

If you have read Jonathan Kellerman, you know what to expect. An intellectual thriller, with a few surprises thrown in.

If you haven't, whatever not?

The book ticks all of the boxes and does not disappoint.

The wedding Guest #netgallery I must admit I normally enjoy Johnathan Kellermsns book. However although I did enjoy the book, I can’t help but say with this particular book it seemed a little slow to really kick in for me. Normally I am hooked from the start with his books, this one after the first couple of chapters I just found it hard to flow. At one point I did consider leaving the book however it’s not something I very very often do is give up on a book. So I continued and boy am I glad I did. It’s literally took off like a rocket out of nowhere, and suddenly couldn’t put it down. Let’s just say it definitely kept me awake despite almost falling asleep a couple of times. Highly recommend this after a slow start. Having said this, this was just my own personal opinion, someone else probably would not think it had a slow start, but definitely recommend
