A lovely look at at creativity and how to cultivate it, no matter what art form you play in. I enjoyed that it looked at the concepts of wabi-sabi and synesthesia.

As someone who does not feel themselves to be naturally creative, I loved the way this book encourages you to explore your own creativity and what works for you, whilst guiding you through the process.

I read an advanced copy, and loved this so much I bought my own once it was released. I've often wondered how to pay more attention to what's around me, how to make a habit of creativity, or taking photos that interest me.

Throughout the book, from What Type of Creative Are You? to Continuing Practice and Personal Projects, you are following exercises that develop your personal taste, while prompting you to explore new ways of seeing.

It's a very visual book, focused on photography, but I think it's great for writers and other types of artists as well. As a writer, it's so important for me to include sensory detail, emotions, and specific description in my stories. Learning how to pay attention has improved my writing considerably.

Ein Buch zum immer wieder lesen, denn es ergeben sich immer wieder neue Aspekte. Allein schon die Fotos und inspirierenden Fragenblöcke laden zum verweilen ein.
Wäre auch ein prima Geschenk...

The title explains the book very well- it is about being conscious of the world around you, and it is about developing your creativity. There is no specific art or craft being taught here; what is being taught is how to figure out what type of creative person your are, and how to find inspiration around you. There's a very mindful feeling to this book- there are exercises scattered throughout the text, meant to help you notice the world in ways you haven't before, to explore each of your senses, to allow yourself to just "be." It's a lovely book to look at too, filled with gorgeous photography. A great book for anyone wanting to explore and/or kickstart their creativity, and a great book for anyone wanting a new approach to mindfulness.

Disclaimer: I was provided with an Advance Digitial Download of this book from NetGallery, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

While I wanted to love this book, I may have picked it up at the wrong time. I am realistic enough to know that some books need to be revisited if we aren't in the right mindset.

Yes, it is a challenge to get out of your creative rut, but I found much of the writing to be regurgitated from other books on mindfulness and creativity. Almost twenty years ago I read SIMPLE ABUNDANCE and much of that book was about rediscovering your creative nature.

This is a lovely book, but just seems a little too fluffy for my taste. I will try to look at it again at some other point and will amend my review if my opinion changes.

This book is more of a guide to helping you unlock and unleash your creativity. It's a good way to develop what inspires you. Lots of beautiful colors and good thinking points.

There are a lot of book on the market these days about getting your creative juices flowing, this one is lovely, very colourful with photo inspirations on every page. Every page has a challenge to your creativity such as looking into a puddle for inspiration, finding and looking at texture or just pick a colour and find inspiration around from that one colour or scent. There are many more, and all a worthy of a look and try, as they do evoke a sense of creativity and exploration int0 artistic pursuits
This is one of the good ones.

I was looking for a new book to inspire me in the new year. This book has activities to guide you through some creativity exercises. It was a fun book to explore but I didn't stay engaged with the authors story, and therefore the 3 star rating. This book is worth trying if your want a jump start for your own creative exploration.

Thank you Quatro Publishing - Leaping Hare Press and Netgalley for an ARC in return of my honest review.

This beautiful book is so much more than a book to inspire creativity. The author has Synaesthesia Which I am sure positively enhances the way she encourages consciousness to enter everyday creativity. There are so many beautiful photographs throughout the book. I love colour so all the photographs of similarily arranged hues won me over. There are questions and projects to entice the reader as well as good information, especially the chapter on overcoming creative obstacles.

A gorgeous book, not only for the reader seeking more creativity but also readers seeking to live in a more conscious way.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Best book on creativity I read in a while.

This book focuses on genuine advice and lessons for anyone looking to spark or awake their creativity. All the chapters are easy to follow, the pictures are inspiring and the exercises are really working!

From embracing boredom, doing nothing, and looking for textures in everyday life, the exercises in Conscious Creativity are simple to do, yet powerful. Not only that, but the author's writing style is really encouraging and inspiring.

Loved it!

It is not a really long book, does have some good information and suggestions with a few personal stories. It goes through the creativity process. There is different topics and projects. So there is points that some readers can get out of.

I quite enjoyed this book. It is really a guide to help you find your creative voice, although I did find the authors tales quite annoying after the first few chapters and hence the three stars. The author has a form of synesthesia which admitted gives her a unique creative view. It does however clearly predominate her way of viewing the world but also communication about creative ideas.

I enjoy creative activities but have never really found my voice. I was really hoping that this book would help me along that path. I thought the exercises were well thought out and varied, and in reviewing the book I did try out a few. But after a few chapters I found the authors narrative very distracting and so ended up skipping just to the exercises, consequently I think I missed a great deal.

So in conclusion I would recommend reading a few chapters to see if the authors style is something that you can live with or even like, otherwise this book is probably not for you. It's a shame because I think it could have been great.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Conscious Creativity – look, connect, create
Philippa Stanton has made a personal journey to achieve a life style and a career that she has always dreamed of and this book is very much an account of that journey. Through her personal experiences she maps a way for others wanting to make the same leap, but still hesitating in front of the challenge.
The book offers exercises and guidance for a creative life. There is nothing really new that you couldn’t find in some other similar guide, but the way Stanton tells about her own experiences and the way to book is illustrated are very compelling.
The layout and photos are beautiful and very trendy, the kind of aesthetics you’d find in an Instagram feed. This is not a minus at all, it is visually a very pleasant experience to read this book. If a book can convince you to change your life, then maybe this will be that book.

Thank you, NetGalley for the preview of this digital ARC.

I have been following Philippa Stanton's Instagram for a few years now. Her knowledge of enhancing our creativity by using things around us is astonishing. I have been looking forward to Conscious Creativity ever since she announced it and this book met all my expectations. I cannot wait to put some of her ideas into advice!

I think the big value of this book is to invite the reader to open the eyes and reconnect with reality. In fact in this cyber era we act like robots, as workers and consumers, too much concentrated on ourselves and obsessed by material things. Curiosity, observation for its own sake, are long forgotten activities. The book contains useful ideas on how explore your ambient seeing objects with new eyes and experiment them with all your senses. This hopefully would help you as artist to be more creative (I would have liked to see some concrete examples), else you're supposed at least to live better,

Awaken all your senses to begin a new journey of creativity. Whether you are a painter, a photographer or a weekend hobbyist, this book by Philippa Stanton will encourage and inspire you to take your art to a whole new level. The book is broken down into different sections that awaken all of your senses. The daily practices bring color, shape and texture to a whole new level of meaning and understanding with a few simple exercises. The bonus in this book is all the amazing photography that makes you sit back and appreciate each detail. Philippa not only tells you, but shows you through the photos what your creativity can soar to. An excellent book to awaken the artist within you. Thank you to NetGalley and Leaping Hare Press for an advanced copy of the book to review.
