I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
I loved the first 2 books in this series, so I was very excited with the chance to read the next. While I liked the heroine immediately, it took a while for me to like the hero. I felt he was contradictory, too rigid and whiny for her but desired travel and adventure above most things. Ms. Ridley did well in character development.

I'm glad Gloria got her HEA! She was the imperfect partner for the perfect hero! Christopher is a "by the book" hero who obey's all the rules. Gloria is one to let her imagination run wild in all things! Together, they compliment each other. Loved the epilogue and see how far they've come! Thank you for the Advanced Readers Copy! Awesome read!

Christopher Cringle is about to set out on the adventure of a lifetime and it’s one he would love to share with his bride. As a favour to a friend Gloria Godwin endeavours to help Christopher find his ideal woman. But although she finds several candidates that match up to his particular list of requirements Christopher finds himself drawn more and more to Gloria who pretty much drives him to distraction with her complete disregard of rules and her re-naming of the constellations. Is it a case of opposites really do attract but can it last?

The further into the 12 Dukes of Christmas series I get the more I love it. This book is a short, heartwarming addition to the series just perfect for this time of the year. The hero is a product of his upbringing but gradually Gloria makes him relax more and not take everything so seriously. At the same time Christopher encourages Gloria to break free of her comfort zone and to try new things. I loved that neither of them had to give up everything for the other. They learnt the art of compromising. And catching up with some familiar characters in this book was an added bonus. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Chris Pringle is looking for a bride, preferably one with common interests such as astrology and traveling. He thinks he has met the perfect woman until she reveals how little she truly knows of astronomy. Chris is appalled someone teaching others would go as far as to turn something so important into something so silly. Confronting Gloria may not have been his best moment.

Gloria wants nothing to do with Chris, but when a letter arrives from a friend asking her to help Chris make a match, Gloria gives in. What she is not expecting is that the more time she spends with Chris, the more she wants him for herself. It is clear there is an attraction between them, but she could never be the bride Chris wants or needs. Could she?

I give WISH UPON A DUKE a 3.5 star rating. Kudos to author Erica Ridley for coming up with such a delightful series, THE 12 DUKES OF CHRISTMAS. I love the little town of Christmas and it's people. All of them are so charming and unique. WISH UPON A DUKE is Chris Pringle's, not to be confused with Kris Kringle, LOL, story. Chris is in town to find a bride. Unfortunately, his handsome brother chose to accompany him and has stolen some of his thunder. Chris must take back some of the spotlight if he wants to find a bride before he's off on his next adventure. It just might be a different adventure than he expected. It is fun watching the characters of THE 12 DUKE OF CHRISTMAS find happiness one by one. I cannot wait to see which lady and which gentleman Ms. Ridley will match next.

When you read this third installment of the 12 Dukes of Christmas Series, you're returned to the holiday spirited English town of Crismouth, this time finding the younger brother of the second book still in pursuit of and finally finding his match. With his more handsome brother now off the market, Christopher finds himself the newest top target on the marriage market, which might please some, but not this young man who is seeking very specific qualities in his future wife. Thus, he employed the services of an unlikely matchmaker, who finds for him several women with his specified traits, but none which totally suit. With time running out before he's due to leave town for a dream travel adventure, will he find what he's looking for? Many clever holiday puns fill the dialogue and setting, adding an element of humor in keeping with the winter celebrations.

Love, love, love it! Erica Ridley has done it again with the story of charming Christopher Pringle, though as a younger brother somewhat overlooked adventurer, and Gloria Godwin, a dark haired beauty, with to much imagination for his taste.
As a favour to her friend, Gloria has agreed to become Christopher's matchmaker, and attempt to find him his perfect match in a wife. Even though after meeting him she decides he is most definitely not for her, the more time she spends with him the harder she is finding it to imagine him with another.
Christopher wants a wife who likes order, and structure, but at the same time travel and adventure. So why is he being drawn to Gloria? The woman who spouts utter nonsense as fact, doesn't believe in following rules, and has no plans to ever leave her little village, let alone set foot on a boat and head off for an adventure.
The story between Christopher and Gloria is a great read, that has love, loss, determination, hope, and more. All the wonderful things you need to have an engaging story. Cant wait to see what Erica will bring us next!

I really like Erika Ridley's stories, they never fail to send me on a journey of imagination into the past, where loveable rogues and their delightful ladies dwell. I loved this story of matchmaking gone wrong.

I received a copy from Netgalley and i am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me an ARC copy of this novel, which I freely chose to review.
I do not read many novels in this genre, but I am due to translate a novel in the genre from Spanish into English and wanted to do some research by reading some modern novels set in the period.
I have not read any of the other novels in the series, although I understand, from reading some of the reviews, that it is quite popular.
The story seems to be one of opposite attracts, with the man being a stickler for facts and lover of adventures, while the woman loves fantasy and is afraid of travel. As we get to know the characters, we realise that Gloria is knowledgeable and both share a love for technology and astronomy. When she ends up being his matchmaker, we know what to expect. There is love at first sight, a sex-scene that it is explicit but not as detailed as others I have read (and of course, it is wonderful even if it is the first time for her, at least), and a happy ending as required. I quite liked the characters, although they were both quite extreme in their positions, and the speed at which things developed between them required some suspension of disbelief, but I don’t think it was beyond the standards of the genre.
The story is told in the third person, without relying too heavily on descriptions, but provides enough details to help us imagine a romantic setting that perfectly suits the story. It flows well, and it has the usual will they/won’t they moments, without going over the top and making readers get impatient.
A short and light read, with engaging characters and fun moments and although the story is not outstanding for its originality, it should satisfy fans of the genre.

Although not as juicy as the other it is still vastly entertaining and good fun. Christopher eager for adventure Gloria afraid but wanting, two opposites with one combustible fire going. Tantalizing and interesting with a few pick me ups when lips meet, don’t mind me folks just having fun it was indeed a fun read which could have had a bit more sauciness for flavor.

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book 3 in the 12 dukes of Christmas series and it was so much better than the previous ones. The story was good and romance was more believable this time.

THIS is the 3rd book in this series and I have enjoyed every one of them. Love the sweet story of Gloria and Christopher. They both want and believe in true love but they are very different. He wants adventure and never stays in one place for more than a month. Because of tragedy in her past, she never wants to leave her small town. It seems like insurmountable obstacles, but love always has a way. Great book!

This is the third novel in the Dukes of Christmas. I enjoyed this novel. The characters were great.

I liked Christopher and how he was in the shadow of his brother's relationship. When his brother gets engaged, Christopher becomes the focus of the women of the village. Christopher asks his brother's fiancee if there is a matchmaker in the village. She points him in the direction of Gloria Godwin. Christopher had met Gloria during the second lap of her sky tour and gets frustrated with her. As Gloria attempts to match Christopher, he slowly realizes that Gloria is the one he wants. Christopher wants a bride that will travel with him. Due to events in her past, Gloria is afraid of travel. Can Gloria overcome her past to embrace love with Christopher?

She's great with children.

Ugh, Nicholas isn't all that.

Yeesh. It's a game, moron! And here I was feeling sorry for him.

Penelope and Nick are so cute.

I guess he really hurt her feelings.

What's wrong with letters?

Wow, Madge has perfect aim!

That is a sad game, but understandable, given what she went through.

Who knew astronomy could be a turn-on?

I have never heard of Ceres. I am learning so many things.

You two need a chaperone.

She was born a hundred years too early. Plane travel might be better for her.

They had skating chairs? I want one!

Hodophobiia is apparently what she has.

So, India or no?

I'm glad she bucked up her courage. It would have been a shame.

This book was awfully cute. I haven’t had the pleasure of reading Ms. Ridley’s work before this but the idea of someone falling for their matchmaker intrigued me. Within the first encounter, it is clear that our main characters are opposites. Christopher desires a woman that will travel at his side, enjoying adventures and sticking by the rules. Gloria has no intention of ever leaving her cozy little village. Regardless of their apparent mismatch, Christopher and Gloria begin to fall for each other. I loved watching Christopher and his strict adherence to rules relax as he spent more time with Gloria. The pudding scene was a wonderful vehicle to highlight the growing tension between the two.

I have mixed feelings about Gloria. Embracing imagination added a much-needed brightness to her character. She was heavily weighed down with fear after losing her parents. As the story progressed, I found it increasingly more difficult to remain sympathetic when her fear of travel and adventure extended to a carriage ride to London. I can understand the fear of traveling by sea and I even made an effort to understand her fear extending to the frozen pond. However, refusing to go anywhere at all is downright ridiculous. The slow, and I mean slow, growth in Gloria’s character was a welcome reprieve.

All in all, Ms. Ridley did a wonderful job of bringing together two characters that were so very different and yet still managed to grow into a complementary relationship. I’m looking forward to reading Ms. Ridley’s other work and hope she continues to bring us adorable males and fascinating women.

This book is another in the 12 Dukes of Chrismas series. While not as good as her other series, this book, and the others in this series, are sweet reads with a bit of swexy.

Christopher is the younger brother of Nick, who we met in the last book. The two of them have come to Christmas on holiday. Christmas is a town up in the mountains where it is Christmas all year long. Christopher and Nick come from a dysfunctional functional family, where their father was constantly with a different mistress. Their mother left when she couldn't take it anymore. Christopher and Nick's outlook on marriage was strongly affected by all of this.

Christopher has always lived in Nick's shadow. While Nick was a notorious rake, Christopher was a traveler. He wants to meet the one woman, who is the right one for him, and make her his wife. Before Nick met Penelope and asked her to marry him, Christopher was invisible, as all the women flocked to Nick. He thought it would be better when Nick chose a wife but it became worse. Now all the women came after him but all they want is meaningless affairs. Christopher wants more. He wants a wife. In desperation, he vists Nick and Penelope. Penelope offers the services of her friend, Gloria, as a matchmaker.

Christopher knows who Gloria is. She is the one who purposefully messed up the names of the constellations in the skywalk tour she was giving. As a gentleman astronomer, and kind of a stickler for rules, Christopher could not tolerate this. Gloria had been smitten with Christopher before all if this but thinks that he snubbed her that night and has changed her opinion of him. Gloria agrees to be a matchmaker for him and starts to introduce him to different women she knows. But Christopher doesn't feel a spark with any of them.

As Christopher and Gloria get to know each other, their first impressions change. But can there be a future with someone that wants things that are so different than what they do?

I recommend this story if you are looking for a nice, relaxing read. There are plenty of Christmas easter eggs throughout that make the story more amusing.

Wish Upon a Duke is the third in the 12 Dukes of Christmas series. It can be read as a standalone, but this one does tell the story of Christopher who is Nick's younger brother from the second book in the series.
This story is about Gloria and Christopher. Gloria is a bluestocking spinster who is very knowledgeable in astronomy. She is the village's astronomy expert and is also able to fix things. Her dream is to one day marry but also to travel. Due to certain events in her past traveling is something she is unable to accomplish. Which was very sad to see, because along with her maid she would prepare a trunk with items that would be needed to the destination they had chosen for that week.
Christopher arrives as a world traveler in search of a wife who he wants for her to now travel along with him. He and Gloria have a very unpleasant first encounter. She then is asked by a friend to assist him in finding him a wife.
As a matchmaker Gloria does a very good job in presenting Christopher with women that have the qualities that he is looking for in a wife. During the scenes when they are together their bantering was fun to read because they liked pushing each others buttons. As the days go by they get to know each other better and they realize that they like each other but her fear of traveling by sea leaves her out as a candidate to be his wife.
It was heartbreaking to see them attempting to fight her fears. This struggle lasted for a while and I loved that Christopher attempted many times to convince her to overcome them. The author added an epilogue to the story and I really liked it. It gave us a look into Gloria finally realizing her dreams.
Overall it was a great story and I will continue with the series.

The third book in this series was unfortunately, another one of those stories that while enjoyable, did leave some things to be desired.

As always, the characters that Ms. Ridley brings to life definitely stand out. I loved the interaction between them, even if the suitor falls for the matchmaker troupe is a little over-played. I was almost hoping for once he might actually fall in love with someone else (and was more than a little curious about what Christopher and Mademoiselle de Luc talked about). Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed their romance, but it did seem like up until the end Christopher was the one changing himself, and giving up his dreams for Gloria instead of them meeting in the middle. I am glad we got to see them in the future so to speak as I was wondering just how they would make their relationship work without compromise.

It was nice to revisit the town of Christmas as it was dubbed, although I'm actually rather surprised that when Christopher first encounters Gloria and her little group, no one lets him in on what is really taking place (it seems like it would have solved so many problems). I also didn't really understand what her former suitor had to do with the death of her father as they seemed drastically different.

Overall, this was a fun and rather quick read. I believe it will appeal to those who enjoy historical romances (even if they have not read the prior books). I would read more from this author.

Christopher Pringle is ready to settle down and looking for help to find the right woman. Miss Gloria Godwin is who he he needs. They are both interested in Astronomy but he goes strictly by the rules where Gloria likes to have a little fun with the rules. They are attracted to each other but it will never work. He wants to travel the world and Gloria does not want to leave her town. Can they work it out? You must read to see what can be done to give each of them to give a little.

This is another great romance in ‘The 12 Dukes of Christmas’ series by Erica Ridley. ‘Wish Upon a Duke’ is the third book and was so lovely to read, as it takes up the story of Christopher, brother of Nicholas Pringle from Book 2. Whilst this book is a standalone, I think the characters are so delightful that it would be a shame not to read the earlier books.

All Christopher wants to do is marry his soulmate and travel with her, with their first trip to India. He gives himself a month to accomplish the task and his soon to be sister-in-law, recommends Gloria Godwin as a matchmaker. However, Christopher has already met Gloria, taking insult when she appears to make up names for stars and constellations. Christopher, who loves rules and conventions, is mortified but soon finds himself drawn to Gloria, despite her introductions to many young women in the local town.
I found myself wishing that Christmas was around the corner so that I could stay home and just read this lovely story of two delightful characters. I look forward to the next book in this great series.
