I thought this was a fast-paced, twisty, entertaining, and unpredictable thriller that had me guessing until the end. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, in came another twist.

Six friends, one wild bachelorette party, a shocking murder, and a whole lot of secrets going on! Follow the police investigation to see what secrets they unravel as they search for a killer.

I was quite surprised at how much I really enjoyed reading this one. Overall, this was a unique juicy thriller full of secrets, deception, jealousy, and murder... and I loved every minute of it!

What a great summer beach read! It was just what I was in the mood for. The novel follows a group of childhood friends that get together for a bachelorette party which ends in tragedy. Most characters have their own chapters, so it was great to get inside their heads as the lies keep piling up. While the "who done it" was far from predictable, the motive needed a bit more fleshing out. The epilogues were intriguing, but rushed. Overall, a solid thriller.

Maggie wakes up in bed with her dance partner from the night before.... BUT one friend is gone.. they find out she was found in the park murdered. Who killed her?

you won't be disappointed by this book.

Set between the bachelorette and the wedding, this story revolves around a participants murder and the secrets all the women are hiding impeding the Chicago detectives rush to find the killer. Told from multiple POV the story is set in the eighties of anything goes. I enjoyed it and it was a good Sunday afternoon read but not the usual dark domestic noir out there right now. So perfect for more domestic lite readers..

This novel was not my favourite. In fact, I found it kind of boring and monotonous, and pretty much skimmed the last half. There are so many other books out there that are worth reading over this one.

Two weeks before the wedding the bride to be and friends go out celebrate. What could go wrong? I couldn't put this one down! Great story with twists that kept me guessing.

Women in there thirties. Most of them friends since grade school.
Kelly, Natasha, Suzanne, Maggie, Carol Anne and Angie. With Kelly's wedding not too far off the women have been together quite a bit. Always in each others lives, sharing everything, even secrets.
Most of the women seem happy. Some, maybe not. Some are married. Some have children. Most have a wonderful life. And then, one of them turns up dead.
Many secrets will become known. Secrets better left buried.
Exciting with a twisted ending! Recommended!

Uptown, downtown, in the ghettoes of Chicago! Five women friends from childhood, high school, marriages, births, broken hearts, happy times! Now we have a problem that brings their walls tumbling down! All the Kings men will never rebuild them again! I barely like one of the women, the only man I liked, was cheating on his sleazy wife! It is a rollercoaster ride, with lies flying through the air, never knowing the wall that one will bring down! I thought I knew who the murderer was, then the end of the book blew me away! I still think I am right!
I highly recommend! Thank you Netgalley!

Maggie Truehart's bachelorette party may have gotten a little out of hand. When she wakes with a strange man to a phone call that one of her friends was murdered she knows that things are going to get worse.

The Last Night Out reveals an intricately woven plot full of twists. There were so many characters in the book, I'm not sure how O'Connell kept them all straight, but I'm glad she did. The mystery of "who killed Angie" plays out against the backdrop of Maggie's wedding and focuses on the consequences of her one night stand....one she can barely remember because of the drinks she consumed at the bar. The story might have been slow to start, but really took off once all the characters came into play, and almost everyone became a suspect. I struggled with the author's portrayal of the cops and the interaction with their suspects - part Keystone Cops/part Columbo. It was distracting, but didn't take away from the plot. And yes, this would make a great made for TV movie or series!

The Last Night Out is a clever and imaginative thriller which kept me guessing until the end. The writing is taut, the plot engaging and the characters seemed fairly realistic. I would read this author again!

It is 1988. A group of friends throw a 'bachelorette' party for Maggie. The next morning Maggie wakes up in bed next to a stranger, having been woken up by a call to tell her one of the group has been murdered.

This sounded a good idea for a book, but somehow it never quite made it for me. I liked the setting of the late eighties, but I struggled with the characters, some of which I found I couldn't remember their back story when the story moved back to them. It was engaging enough to finish reading but not really one for me.

Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for giving me the chance to read & review this book.

A bachelor's party in an upscale Chicago suburb sets up the plot for this week-written story that reads like a version of of Pretty Little Lies. An interesting cast of female characters almost begs for screen treatment: the beautiful but restless bride to be, the contented wife and mother with the successful doctor husband and beautiful children, the policewoman, and careerist whose job takes precedence over everything else in her life. It won't spoil the suspense to reveal that the bride to be had a one night stand after the party with a hunky carpenter (aren't they all in women's fiction?) and may be a suspect in the murder that happens to one of them after the party. It's not hard to figure out who did the deed and why, but it's a well-realized story with stereotypes who are nonetheless good company and may turn up on a cable channel one of these days, given how hungry TV is for content and how successful similar fare continues to bem

Four of Maggie Trueheart’s friends had been invited to Carol Anne’s Neibaum’s house for Maggie’s bachelorette party. Suzanne, Kelly, Angie, and Maggie decided to continue the party at the Rush Bar. There seems to always be some kind of issue for brides-to-be and husbands-to-be whenever there is a “Last Night Out.” That’s exactly what happened for Maggie, when she woke up next to a total stranger in her bed. Who was the stranger, and how did he end up in her bed? Did she use any protection? She was wakened by a phone call from one of her best friends, Kelly Delaney. Kelly informed her that their friend, Angie Wozniak, had been found murdered in the park. Not only is Maggie still feeling drunk and guilty for cheating on her fiancé, Flynn, now she’s devastated about her friend Angie’s murder. Things just seem to be unraveling for Maggie; the wedding is only 11 days away, and how will she keep her indiscretion from Flynn. The police are talking with all her friends, Suzanne Lundgren, Carol Anne Neibaum, Kelly Delaney, and Natasha Dietrich. It seems as if everyone of her friends had something to hide from the police. What are their secrets? The police are trying desperately to find out who the actual murderer is. Why would anyone want to kill Angie? Who would have murdered Angie and then carried her and dropped her body into the park? Will the murder hamper the wedding plans for Maggie? Will she be able to keep her secret from her fiancé? Did the stranger have anything to do with the murder? Will the police find out who the murderer is? The plot was definitely genius. The numerous themes were woven into the actual plot. This kept the reader totally immersed into the book, until the very end. The character development was great and the reader could relate to each of the characters and the issues each were going through. I could hardly put this book down. What a great book. Looking forward to the next book.

I LOVED this book. Sometimes a lot of same sex characters can get confusing, but these ladies each had their own lifestyles and personalities, meaning no confusion at all. I loved how few of their lives (or that of their partners or children) were straightforward and the ending blew me away. This is the first book I’ve read by Catherine O’Connell but I’d like to read more.

I was not sure what to make of this book, to begin with. I found the start very slow and with 6 characters, one dead, it took perseverance to keep going.

That is not to say I wasn't glad that I had done so. The characters were very well described, although not particularly nice, the author spent a lot of time enhancing the views ideas about them.

Their interaction with Detective Ron O'Reilly was interesting, but the plot of this novel just didn't really do it for me.

I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are all my own and completely unbiased. My thanks to NetGalley for this opportunity.

I'm usually turned off by a story that begins with a woman waking up with a stranger in her bed. And I admit there were quite a few times that I was turned off by this one with a plethora of offensive language and sexual terms. But the plot kept me reading, and I finished it in one sitting. So that says something positive about it! We learn the history of six close girlfriends (whether we want to, or not), and they are not all the most likeable characters. You have a choice of suspects when one of them is murdered but may still be surprised when you get to the end. And then surprised again!

I'm now a fan of Catherine O'Connell!!!! This book just doesn't stop delivering surprises and is a page turner until the very last page! This should be a great summer read for everyone into psychological thrillers. Everybody is a suspect and nobody is innocent to some bad deed!

Loved this book couldn’t put it down the story was so scarey as to what can happen after one night out could change your life, the characters are very likeable and could imagine how they all felt and you’re so glad that it hasn’t happened to yourself. I would definitely recommend it.
