I was overjoyed to see the first chapter of ‘The Magnificent Mrs Mayhew’ on Netgalley. I am a massive fan of Milly’s books and this is no different. I am pleased I got to read the first chapter of this book but also gutted that I couldn’t read on! It already has me totally hooked on the characters and I really want to know more about Sophie as a person. I am sure the rest of the book will be just as amazing just by reading the first chapter! 😊 I hope I am lucky enough to read the rest of the book as soon as possible. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this chapter.

The Magnificent Mrs Mayhew, which is about a politician’s wife, looks like a rather different milieu for Milly Johnson from her usual, but promises to be intriguing. This sample, consisting of the first chapter only, basically just fills in Sophie’s back story and how she met rising star John F. Mayhew (charming, handsome, rich etc) and now Secretary of State for Family Matters (a job title which sounds like a recipe for inevitable disaster). It looks like that crisis has now struck in the person of a “Girl Friday” in John F. Mayhew’s office (he’s referred to by his full name as befits a man of his standing *cough*), but in this chapter  we learn no more about the situation than that...

Difficult to say much more on the basis of a single chapter but Milly can always be relied upon to deliver an excellent read and I’m looking forward to reading the whole thing!

I can’t wait to read the rest of this book. I already want to scoop Sophie up and rescue her from the rogue. 

To anyone who has ever had their heart broken by the ‘too good to be true’ man, this looks like it will be a rollercoaster of emotions and and a tug of war between heart and head, and rescuing your self-identity.

Netgalley.com offered me to read the first chapter of the new book of Milly Johnson, "The Magnificent Mrs Mayhew". I was really excited to see that Milly Johnson is releasing a new novel, she is one of my favorite author! This sample promises a wonderful book, I am so so so so impatient to be able to read the full book now! This first chapter introduces us to Sophie who is married to a very powerful and attractive man but we can already sense that Sophie is not happy in this relationship, I can't wait to see what is going to happen! I give a 5 star out of 5 to this chapter!

Chapter one and I’m already intrigued as to what Sophie intends to do and why she’s letting this man walk all over her (or so it seems!) As an opening chapter it has engaged me and makes me want more. Milly Johnson never fails - a pleasure to read this chapter and looking forward to
the rest.

An intoxicating opening chapter that I devoured in minutes. It was exciting and left me eager to read on and learn more about the fascinating Mrs Mayhew. I can't wait to read the entire book now after sampling a small taste. As first chapters go this was first class.

I have read one chapter of The Magnificent Mrs Mayew and if this is a slice of what is to come, I cannot wait to devour the whole cake!

A delightful sampler for the new Milly Johnson book!  It gives the perfect glimpse into what the book is going to be like, and definitely made me want to carry on reading it.  This chapter introduces us to some of the characters and it really pulls you in very quickly!  Can’t wait to read the rest of the book when it is released!

I love Milly Johnson's books and from the teaser of this book  looks like I will be adding more to my collection.  The sample chapter from this book is brilliant and has got me really excited for the release of this book. the teaser gives you an insight into the characters involved in the story but at the same time gives nothing away. looking forward to reading he rest of this book.

All of Milly Johnson's previous books have been written in such a way that I have been immediately able to immerse myself into that particular world and identify with the characters and 'The Magnificent Mrs Mayhew' is no different; I was instantly drawn in by the strong, relatable character of Sophie and I cannot wait to see what twists and turns lie ahead for her when the full book is released.

I love Milly Johnson's books and can't wait for this one, so the sample chapter just made me want it to be published quicker!  It set the scene perfectly and it looks like Sophie is ready to escape all the restrictive people surrounding her putting on a front, including family, and be honest and happy in herself for a change.  I can't wait to see how her life turns out.

Difficult to review such a short excerpt from the book. Though knowing Milly Johnson's writings I'm sure it will be five stars all the way.

I have enjoyed reading this sample Chapter by Milly Johnson.

It is fast paced and really grabs your attention and pulls you in. Just from this chapter you get a real sense of the characters. 

 I cannot wait for the book to be published.

What a treat! I've read every single book by Milly Johnson (many more than once) and this looks like another winner to me! Looking forward to reading the rest of the story when it's out in March. I love it already!

If a chapter alone is worthy of stars then five huge ones would be stamped on this. Sophie is about to deal a major kick up the rear to her husband who has made a few mistakes and Sophie will no longer take them lying down. Can’t wait to devour the rest and give full review! **stars given on chapter alone! **

I love the style of writing of Milly Johnson and this sample made me crave for more.
