I learned a lot reading this book. The book follows the history the the Steamer Queen Victoria, the Canadian Confederate Cruiser. The author follows the life of the steamer from being built until it sank during a hurricane. In between it traveled through Canada. At first it carried goods and then it was pressed into service as a royal passenger steamer. The Canadian Confederation traveled to the Maritime Provinces aboard her and wined and dined the statesmen and their wives. After Confederation it went back into service carrying goods. The second part of the book concerns what happened after it sank. I really enjoyed reading the saga of the bell. The writing is really good and the author enjoys including some humor. I liked the historical photographs that accompanied the text. Hopefully after reading this book this part of Canadian History will no longer remain unknown. Enjoy.

This was a great nonfiction read following the inception and life of this ship. I really appreciated the facts and flow of the writing, as well as the occasional image. It brings light to the wonderful Queen Victoria. Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book!
