After thoroughly enjoying Liz Lawler’s previous book Don’t Wake Up, I was terribly excited to get to this one. Sadly, I was left rather disappointed. It started off brilliantly with one of the most fabulous prologues I’ve ever read. But the tension the prologue created was soon lost in the chapters that followed. The storyline felt quite predictable and I disliked the fact that other points of view would pop up in a paragraph, instead of another chapter. It made things a bit confusing at times. The premise of a missing girl and the unreliable narrator has been done many tiles before. It’s hard to find refreshing ways of doing it. I didn’t particularly like Emily either, couldn’t quite connect to her and so was unable to muster up any sympathy for her, or even care about her or the things she was going through. Sadly then, this book didn’t work for me but it hasn’t put me off reading something else by this author in the future. |

With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers and also Pigeonhole for the book in exchange for a review. It was a well written, psychological thriller and had plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. It would also make you a bit concerned if you needed an operation any time soon! MY REVIEW Emily Jacobs’ sister, Zoe, had disappeared some months before and Emily has been searching relentlessly ever since. This had affected her mental health and her therapist is trying to help her recover fully. As a result she is to return to work as a Nurse, after a small operation to remove a lump in her breast. While she is recovering from her op, she witnesses a young girl ‘dying’ in her room, but nurses and doctors convince her this was just a dream, the result of anaesthetic, but Emily is not so sure. Here begins Liz Lawler’s marvellously tense, gripping and twisty tale that will keep you guessing and on edge as the tension builds. Is Emily hallucinating, is her mental health declining again, is Zoe still alive, or is something more unbelievably tragic happening ?...Thank goodness for Geraldine, the detective that just doesn’t give up. The ending will leave you broken..... I would like to thank the Author/the Publishers/NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review |
Liz Lawler certainly knows how to write a first chapter that is going to hook you and terrify you at the same time! I thought her last book’s first chapter was the most horrifying thing I’d ever read, but this one will give you nightmares! I was actually gripping onto the duvet in sheer fright whilst reading this first chapter! All the way through the book it keeps you guessing and not knowing what is going on. It is very similar to her first book, in the way the protagonist is made to look crazy and you start to doubt her. The story is very different, though. I was convinced it was going to be a five-star read, but the ending let me down a bit. It seemed rushed and not very well thought out. It pulled everything together and answered all the questions but I just finished it thinking oh was that it? I was expecting to be shocked and blown away, but it just fell short. I’m not saying it wasn’t a gripping read, as I was still awake at 2 am reading it last night wanting to know what had happened, but it just left me wanting something different from the story. It still gets a solid four stars, though! |

Hmm I don't really know how to review this title. I loved Liz's previous novel and this one sounded great. The first half was, but then it felt like it dropped off a cliff! I cannot fathom it at all! |

Found this book disappointing after such a promising start. Loved the previous book by this author but sadly this one just wasn’t for me. |
I'll Find You gripped me at the start but sadly it all fell apart. Nothing about this story is realistic and the only positive is I only wasted a few hours reading this. I almost threw my kindle across the room when I reached the final 10% of this book, seriously Liz this is how you end a story? Disappointing, dramatic and predictable. |
