I loved this book and Stevie is a great heroine taking on new challenges and adapting to life in the village and compassion for all. I would highly recommend and would like to read the sequel

I loved the quirky characters and the setting.
The plot was engaging and keeps you hooked till the last page.
This the perfect book for a cozy afternoon.

This was a quick, easy read with quirky characters with big hearts. The author was new to me and I wouldn’t mind reading another book if this was a part of  series. I received a copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I am a total sucker for Brit Lit and I love the plucky heroine starting a business and finding her HEA theme. Well, this book had all that and more. Stevie inherits some money from her aunt Peggy, finds a perfect spot and opens Peggy’s tea shop in Tanglewood.

Part of the lure of this book is the bunch of townies that Stevie meets and start to enjoy. This includes handsome horseman Nick and his sister Tia. There’s a wonderful villainess, Allegra, who is a food maniac and who tries to destroy the tea shop. 

This is a very enjoyable read from an author who is new to me but whom I will read in the future.

An easy quick enjoyable read. A bit of escape for a few hours.

When her great aunt peggy dies, she leaves her entire estate to her niece Stevie. After the shock wears off, Stevie decides that she wants to put the money to good use so she decides to buy a shop in the Brecons in Wales. so she can start a tea shop. 

She meets local show jumper Nick and his sister Tia, as well as Leanne, Betty, Cassandra and others and this turns out to be a book that i would have happily read more of. I hope the author goes back to Tangle wood because i would like to read Tia and Williams book next.

When Stevie is left some money by her great aunt, whilst she is in a sorry stage of her life she decides to buy a tea shop.
When she struggles with even the journey to the picturesque sounding village, you begin to wonder whether she may have bitten off more than she can chew. But her plans for the tea shop are wonderful and she soon picks up pretty mismatched crockery for the delicious cakes she is going to serve.
Her introduction to the village community doesn't go that smoothly, but she's soon making friends with some wonderful characters who put themselves behind her.
It has everything- a lovely village, the 'folk' at the manor house, a tempting teashop, warm friendships and a hint of romance in the air.
I do wonder whether we might return to Tanglewood and possibly follow other characters in new ventures! I would be keen to read more.

A fun and at times sweet story of Stevie, who inherits some money from an elderly aunt, and decides to open up a tea shop in a small town in Wales. Nearly running over Nick, who is riding a horse down the middle of the street, she is captivated by his tight bum on the saddle. Who wouldn't? Small town living, and people helping people and of course some vindictive gossip all lead to a lively story. Highly recommend this one and this author.

People who have been following my blog for a while know that one of my trigger words for a book is ‘tea shop’. As soon as I hear the word tea shop I just have got to get my hands on the book in question. 
My love for tea shop books naturally also means I have a lot of stories to compare to. Which makes me sometimes a bit of a difficult reader, because it is so easy to get the been there, done that feeling over a story. However I must say that The Tanglewood Tea Shop was actually a breath of fresh air.
It was quite refreshing to step away from the classic coastline of England and venture into the wilder territory of Wales. The setting of the story really added to the overall feel of the story and certain storylines were really inspired by the setting in Wales.
Apart from that I had never read a story that involved a sudden inheritance and a heroine with a decent brain that wanted to make something of her life. (Instead of just booking a cruise to the Maldives and lay back till all the money was gone.) I also loved the family tension surrounding this sudden inheritance. Lilac Mills certainly went off the beaten track for The Tanglewood Tea Shop.
But at the same time her story felt familiar and comfortable. A book about a Tea Shop needs to mention food. I hate it when I read 300 or more pages and I have to look for a single mention of a cake. Not so in here! Stevie is backing her ass of and the luscious creations jump of the pages. I just couldn’t help google some of the pastries and cakes she created. 
And then there are of course the villagers. For me the inhabitants of small villages make are break a story set around a little café or tea shop. But in this story I loved every one of them…Ow wait that is not entirely true. I loved to hate some of the characters, but I think that was kind of the point.
So why not more stars I hear you say! Well, I have two reasons for that. One being the way the story was written. Stevie likes to talk to herself in her head and these sentences are mentioned with quotation marks. As a reader this is very confusing, because most of the time you don’t realise she is saying these things to herself. It takes a few sentences before it is mentioned that she was speaking to herself inside her head. 
The second reasons is the romance. First of all there isn’t a lot of it. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Because The Tanglewood Tea Shop is actually a story about a young, independent woman fighting for her dreams and finding her place in the world. Ideal for people who don’t like sugar sweet romances. But the romance that is there feels unrealistic and develops much too quickly. I loved the lingering looks and I won’t deny there is certainly an attraction between the two characters involved. But they haven’t even had one decent conversation and the I love you’s are flying around. How can you know you love someone when you have hardly talked to each other at all? I was really let down by that. Instalove is a bad thing in YA, but I hate it even more in books for adults.
But overall I really enjoyed The Tanglewood Tea Shop. It’s a small town sweet little romance with quirky inhabitants and a strong heroine who is finding her place in the world. And its full of delicious desserts.. you should read it, if only for those scrumptious desserts!

‘The Tanglewood Tea Shop’ is my first read by Lilac Mills and I know it won’t be my last. This book certainly didn’t disappoint. I was thrilled to be approved to read this book on Netgalley where what attracted me first to the book was the cover, it’s bright and certainly draws you in. 

The story starts with Stevie’s clear special relationship with her aunt Peggy. Sadly Peggy passes away and Stevie inherits a lot of money from her aunt Peggy, much to the dismay of her mother and sister who actually inherit something different to Stevie and they won’t let her forget it. These events land Stevie in the little village of Tanglewood where there are many different characters to meet. Stevie is my favourite character. She is caring, shy but kind, hardworking and is determined to make her late aunt proud of her achievements. Stevie quite easily makes friends with Leanne, Tia, Cassandra, the lovely Betty and the handsome Nick plus more (can’t forget Stevie’s cat Peggy!). I really felt for Tia and her situation, this is Nick’s sister. You can see this relationship is unique and special. Stevie comes up against some challenging situations whilst living in Tanglewood, however I won’t go into this too much as I really would like you to read the book for yourself! I found myself loving all of the characters apart from one (there is always one isn’t there!?) 

I found this book a nice relaxed easy read which are my most definitely my type of reads! Lilac describes the setting of each chapter so clearly I could imagine this story playing out in my mind! Whist reading ‘The Tanglewood Tea Shop’ I felt happiness, joy, sadness and even frustration in parts but that is only because you want Stevie to have the happy ending she 100% deserves. You also don’t know what’s going to happen next so this book had me hooked from beginning to end. I will for sure be reading more of Lilac’s books in the future as I enjoyed this book so much. I give ‘The Tanglewood Tea Shop’ 5*/5* 😊

2.5 stars. I have mixed feelings about this book but the plot was definitely my favorite part. Patisserie-chef Stevie can't quite get her life together, but when her beloved aunt passes away she inherits a good chunk of money and buys a teashop in the small town of Tanglewood. The story follows Stevie as she gets her business up and running, befriends some of the town's residents (butts-heads with others), and pines after the cute and caring stable-owner. It's a short and sweet read that will most definitely transport you to the idyllic town of Tanglewood. 

The aspects I didn't enjoy were small things that added up. Stevie's thoughts are formatted in quotation marks so it seems like it's something she has said aloud until you continue reading and realize she only "said" it in her head. I think putting the thoughts in italics would've created a better flow. Some of the dialogue also stuck out to me as unrealistic, as was Stevie's ditziness. She's an independent young woman who was capable of starting her own business in a town she'd never visited before - how can she be unable to follow a conversation without getting confused? Finally, I wish there was more romance! The ending wrapped up too quickly and I wish I got to see more interactions between the couple.

Overall, I enjoyed the story, characters, and friendships, but there were those bits that grated on me and me and kept me from really loving it.

This is the first time book by this author for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it.i found it easy to get into and difficult to put down,I will be looking for for books by this author.. I would definitely recommend this to my friends

I love these sorts of books - give me a small town community, a tea shop (or other sort of shop), a couple of hunky men, some new friends,  and a bit of drama, and for you have a wonderful comfort read. 

There was something so familiar about this book, despite never having read it before and i felt right at home, and loved how Stevie suddenly had the means to move away from her frankly horrific family, and buy a teashop in a gorgeous village. 

When I say familiar, perhaps I really mean warm and cosy, and I loved how the story panned out. There did seem to be some large jumps in time between chapters, but once you came to almost expect that time was moving forward a few weeks at a time, it was absolutely fine, as that way we were able to get to know Stevie a lot better, and see how she starts to become a part of the Tanglewood community. 

As much as I loved Stevie, I had real soft spots for Tia, who is the sister of Nick who may or may not fancy Stevie, and ha been going through a tough time, and Betty who really comes into her own during the second half of the book. 

I really enjoyed getting to know the residents of Tanglewood, and would be incredibly happy to return there in a future book.  

This is anther highly enjoyable book from Lilac Mills. It seems as though she is very talented at writing, just the sorts of book that I love!

I really like the main character Stevie. She was sweet and easy to relate too.  I despised her mother and sister. Story is well-written, set in England and will be like by many people.  I dislike reading books with this kin  of family dynamic, so that is the lower star rating from me.   
The plot is okay. The writing is good. This would.make.  good book for a lazy  afternoon.

The Tanglewood Tea Shop is a a nice short fun read though it should have been named Peggy's Tea Shoppe! Just a suggestion!! 
I love cafes and bake shops and food generally. So all the delicacies described in the book made my mouth water and crave them . Plus points for that. Characters were likable enough though I would have liked more interactions between the two main characters before them declaring their feeling for each other, that kind of seemed a bit old times types,

Overall  a good read when travelling, light enough and short enough .

Stevie has had a run of horrible luck.  That includes the death of her Aunt but that last has actually given her an opportunity to remake her life.  Buying a teashop in a small town and getting it up and running isn't easy for an outsider but Stevie makes friends and even deals positively with a woman who is waging war on sugar.  Then there's Nick, the romantic interest. You know these two are going to have some witty repartee, some misunderstandings, and then......Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.  This is light, fluffy reading that's perfect for a rainy day, travel, a day at the beach, and so on.

My thanks to Canelo for an eARC via NetGalley of this frothy romantic comedy by Lilac Mills. It’s published on 31st January and proved perfect comfort reading for a chilly winter day. 

Patisserie chef Stevie recently had broken her leg after being knocked down by a bus and subsequently lost her job at a flash London restaurant, could no longer afford her rent (so moved back home) and finally was abandoned by her boyfriend.

Stevie’s beloved Great-Aunt then dies and unexpectedly had quite a nest egg that she leaves to Stevie. Cue Stevie’s mother and sister being very upset as they had only received token sums. Both of them frankly are quite horrid.

Stevie decides to move away from London and uses her inheritance to open a tea shop in the Welsh Marches village of Tanglewood. Amusing adventures ensue and when the handsome owner of the local stables comes into her life....

I rarely read romantic comedies but I think now and then I really should as this novel was a delight and full of charm, warmth and humour.  Also, very yummy descriptions of cakes and pastries for a vicarious teatime. 

I think I may investigate more of Lilac Mills’ books when I need a little escapism as she seems highly regarded in this genre.

Based off the description and the first couple of chapters, I didn't think I'd like this book. It's very cutesy and I just didn't think I'd enjoy it. However, I ended up really liking it. It's a very light, quick read and the story is predictable, but still enjoyable. It's the equivalent of a romantic comedy- you know how it's going to end but it's still fun to see how you'll get there. 

I managed to read this in about 24 hours, so if you need a good beach book or something to read on a long flight, it's perfect for that!

I loved everything about this book and wish this little cake shop was real so I could try some of those delicious cakes.

Stevie is a good hearted girl whose career has been cut short after an accident.  She loves her Aunt Peggy and is devastated when she dies.  However Aunt Peggy leaves Stevie a large amount of money much to the annoyance of her mother and sister.  Stevie uses the money to move to Wales and buy the Tea shop.  There are lots of laugh out loud descriptions.  I particularly liked the part where Stevie went out for a drink with her new friend from the Florist shop. 

Nick has a stables and lives with his sister Tia.  Tia has her own story to tell as does Betty, the old lady that Stevie takes under her wing.  Will Stevie and Nick become more than friends or will she chose the other guy who takes her on a date. Although Stevie worked in London she settles into village life and we watch her confidence grow as she interacts with the other residents.

Oh I loved this book so much! Tanglewood is the perfect little town and all of the characters are so well developed. The writing is very descriptive and now I want to own a little tea shop in a perfect little town! The sense of community and love that developed throughout this story really captured my heart and warmed my soul. I highly recommend this book!
