This is a well thought out, complex story of Grace and Audrey, their lives, how they meet and how their similar circumstances lead to them being best friends despite the age difference. Grace flees to Paris after her husband David asks her for a divorce on their 25th wedding anniversary. Audrey flees to Paris to escape her alcoholic mother. These two meet and become best friends and confidants.
A definite must read by Sarah Morgan and I will certainly re-read this book again and again.

Really enjoyed this book. I thought the 2nd half was less enjoyable than the 1st and if I had reviewed after the 1st half would definitely have given 5 stars. The storylines for both Grace and Audrey were really well written in the 1st half but fell a bit flatter in the 2nd. I have read nearly all Sarah Morgan’s books and always look forward to the next one being released in the hope that they will be as good as her earlier Manhattan series. However I have felt that the previous 2 or 3 have not been as immersive and I felt this one was better as she did not try to involve so many characters . Really enjoyed it and look forward to Sarah’s next book.

This is my first book by Sarah Morgan but I'm hoping it won't be my last.

An easy read with wonderful descriptions of Paris that drew you in so you could hear the sounds & taste the food. I loved the unlikely friendship between Grace & Audrey and enjoyed their personal stories that in the end brought them closer together.

This is a lovely inspiring read about a friendship which changes lives. Grace and Audrey are from totally different ends of the spectrum, but somehow they find each other while following their dreams. Their meeting will change who they are in ways which totally warmed my heart.

I had my own ideas as to how I thought the story may turn out, but at least once I was surprised when the author took the story in a different direction.

I haven’t read this author before but I will definitely be checking out her other books after reading this one. Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy.

This has to be one of my favourite Sarah Morgan books. The setting of the book in Paris was great. The characters were so real and vibrant. I loved the unusual relationship and friendship between Grace and Audrey. Their different approaches to life seemed to increase their bond and that made me smile. In two very different stages of their lives, they managed to find much common ground and support each other through their issues. The support stories around the main one also were interesting and well written.
I couldn’t put the book down.
For me , a different style of book from usual which I loved reading.

Well I am a massive fan of Sarah’s writing so when the chance to read ‘One Summer in Paris’ came up I just had to get involved. Literally squealed when this came in the post.

We meet Grace and Audrey who find themselves in the romance capital of France for the summer. Sarah writes an amazing backstory for both characters by alternating from chapter to chapter, I for one wanted to find out about both characters equally so found myself turning the pages quickly but still wanting to savour it at the same time. We find events happening where Grace and Audrey’s lives cross paths in Paris. They are complete opposites in their personalities yet they develop the most special connected friendship. Grace is all about organisation and routine whereas Audrey is taking life each day at a time and finding herself feeling as though she has to cover up parts of her life. You will find out why when you read this beautiful story for yourself. I am actually quite jealous of the relationship that these two characters develop and the connection they have.

The diversity of events that happen in ‘One Summer in Paris’ leaves you wanting to leap into the book yourself to join Grace and Audrey on an adventure of a lifetime. I also loved the other characters that pop into this story such as Mimi (we also hear a bit from her perspective) and Etienne. ‘One Summer in Paris’ is about love, friendship, forgiveness and above all self discovery ❤️

This is my favourite book of Sarah’s so far and I urge you to go and buy it to enjoy it for yourself, you will not regret it! I give ‘One Summer in Paris’ a very well deserved 5*/5* 😊

What a well written book. I love all of Sarah Morgan books and couldn't wait to open this because it's set in beautiful Paris.
I have to say though, the main character is me.. grace is going through an ordeal that sends her to Paris alone and upset, I did the same but to Athens. I found some things hard to read because I was attached to the book by this character and if tok me longer to read due to my emotional attachment.
The story of this is set mostly in central Paris we see a sad single woman not knowing what to do in Paris. She meets another single woman Audtey.. and we find the best story erupting.
Loved the story, the characters and the author. Fab story. X

I always love Sarah Morgan books one of my highlights and favourite authors for a happy light read, sadly to my disappointment this one wasn’t for me. I’m not quite sure why but it couldn’t hold my attention and I can’t usually put her books down. I couldn’t connect with the characters as much and I found I wasn’t that interested in what happened to them. But then I got to the end and I was angry, I’m sorry but no, just no (no spoilers) but I’m annoyed with that end, nope angry and just felt the MC lost all her spine, all she had learnt and I hope this isn’t a sign for future books, or she will lose a fan.

Provided by NetGalley for an honest review.

Sarah Morgan is one of my favourite authors and she most definitely didn’t disappoint this time.

It was amazing to see Paris through the eyes of so many characters, each at different points in their lives.

I loved this book. I loved the writing, the depth, the characters. Each one was fleshed out well and you fell in love with them the more you read about them.

Beautiful all round.

Enjoyed this story and couldn't wait to see what happened with the main characters. Grace and Audrey are unlikely friends that end up at the same book shop in Paris and their journey together is a joy to read. The story is full of warmth and humour and they both give each other something that is missing in their lives.
Read the book in a couple of sittings and wanted to get to the end to see what happened.

Absolutely wonderful book about life getting stuck in a rut, having a life-altering change, and finding yourself again, all set over a summer in Paris. It's funny because I've never been interested in visiting Paris, but I've read a few books set in Paris and it always sounds like such a magical place that I may have to change that view!

Grace lives in the States, is married to David and they have a daughter, Sophie, just about to go to college and fly the nest. Then David drops a bombshell on their dinner out for their 25th anniversary that he's having an affair with a 20-something friend of theirs. Grace has arranged an anniversary surprise for her and David to spend the summer in Paris and had everything booked, so she decided to take the trip on her own, something she would normally never contemplate.

Audrey lives in London and shares her home with her Mother, who is a functioning alcoholic that Audrey always seems to be looking after, instead of the other way around. But her Mother has just married and so Audrey takes the opportunity to escape too and live a little, taking a job in a bookstore in Paris that includes accommodation, even though she can't speak French and had someone else fill in the application for her!

Once in Paris Grace and Audrey meet when Grace is nearly robbed in the street and Audrey comes to her rescue, and from then on the completely different personalities and ages (Grace is 47 & Audrey is 18) start a fabulous friendship that helps both of them grow and blossom over their summer in Paris. There are some lovely side characters in Mimi, Grace's 90 year old unconventional grandmother, and Etienne, Audrey's co-worker who turns into a love interest, along with Grace's old love Philippe, who was the only character I wasn't that keen on, and it just all blends into a wonderful, laid back, journey through the summer that I never wanted to end.

The ending with Mimi visiting Paris (and a few revelations) was so lovely, I definitely had a tear in my eye! I love Sarah Morgan's books anyway, but I think this is her best to date. Loved it!

I loved this story, the characters blended well together and it was great to see such a range of individuals come together to pull through their problems.
I've enjoyed several books from this author and this was no exception.
The setting of Paris was lovely without taking anything from the characters journeys it provided a chic and quaint backdrop.
It took such common life experiences and showed how with the help of new friends and different outlooks of the situation people can pull together and make it through harder times in ways they'd not imagine.

Wow a book which takes you through a roller coaster of emotions. Set in a summer in Paris the way Sarah writes draws you in so you feel like you are there with the characters in the book. Who would of thought that a middle aged American woman who have anything in common with a British teenager. A chance meeting changes both Audrey’s and Grace’s lives forever. I throughly enjoyed going along for the ride with Audrey and Grace as they both tried to sort out their lives. I was sorry when the book came to an end and I look forward to Sarah’s next book. A highly recommended read.

Sublime.
A charming story of self discovery and friendship. When I read the first chapter I wasn’t sure whether I was going to enjoy this book but I soon became drawn into the story and I loved the descriptions of Paris. The characters were masterfully portrayed and totally believable, being at turns vulnerable and courageous. I especially loved the relationship that grew between Grace and Audrey.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Having never read any Sarah Morgan before I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was a really enjoyable read, I particularly liked that Grace was in her 40’s. Paris brings together two very different women to form an unlikely friendship, Audrey who has just left school and can’t get away from home fast enough and Grace who wasn’t expecting to be in Paris on her own. True friendships are when you can turn to one another in a time of need and know they’ve got your back and understand you.

Like all previous Sarah Morgan books that I have read I loved it! It started with Grace's life in the US and Audrey's life in the UK. They both go to Paris to escape family problems and meet up at the start of their life in Paris.
Despite not having anything in common and being at completely different points in their lives the two women become close friends .They provide support for each other and encourage each other to follow their dreams and to open their lives to other both new and old relationships.
One interesting factor was the influence that alcoholism can have on family members and partners and how it damages lives and relationships.
As usual it was a well written and well researched book.

Thank you Net Galley for introducing me to the book and for providing me with an ARC of the book.

Grace and Audrey have nothing in common, but when chance leads them to the same bookshop in Paris, they begin a friendship that will mend their broken lives.

I received a free copy from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

I was looking forward to reading this book when I was on holiday earlier this month. I thought it would be a fun and flirty Rom Com, and... it was, but it was so much more.
The main focus of this story is the friendship between Grace and Audrey, and I loved it.

Grace lives in the US with her husband and 18 year-old daughter. She's in her forties, and has worked hard to maintain a good family life. She is super-organised, and as she always put others first, she has neglected herself somewhat. She even organises a surprise summer vacation in Paris, as a 25th anniversary present!
Unfortunately, things don't go to plan, when her husband asks for a divorce, and it turns out that he has already replaced her with a newer model.

Audrey lives in London with her alcoholic mum. At 18 years-old, her closest friends are buggering off to university, whereas Audrey feels stuck where she is, trying to hide the worst parts of her life, and make it seem like she is OK. When she sees an ad for a summer job in a bookshop in Paris, she thinks it's the perfect escape - even if she has dyslexia and can't speak french.

Despite not having anything in common, and being in completely different points in their lives, the two women become close friends. They provide the support, that they didn't realise was missing, and encourage each other to go after their dreams, and to be open to romance.
This was really sweet, with plenty of humour and lightness; but at the same time, it embraced the harsh realities of life.

I have the same age gap with one of my closest friends, and I really connected with this story!
I would definitely read more books by Sarah Morgan.

This was a lovely story that made me wish I was in Paris right now. The book transports you to Paris, following Grace as she experiences heartbreak, heartache and making new friends. This was a great story that follows unlikely friendships and how Grace gets over her broken heart.
