Not necessarily a philosophy that I subscribe to but I can understand why some might. Fans of The Secret will enjoy this book.

I reviewed this book via my Goodreads and YouTube at the time of release. I thank you for the opportunity to read and review this title

I am a great believer in you being the source of your own happiness, success, etc etc, but I am also a firm believer in the Magical, in putting out what you would like back and sadly I just didnt get on with this,
Its taken me forever to get through it and I feel no more or less myself.
I imagine it will be wonderful for some, but its certainly not for all.

I think that the students in our school library need to hear lots of diverse voices and read stories and lives of many different kinds of people and experiences. When I inherited the library it was an incredibly sanitised space with only 'school readers' and project books on 'the railways' etc. Buying in books that will appeal to the whole range of our readers with diverse voices, eclectic and fascinating subject matter, and topics that will intrigue and fascinate them was incredibly important to me.
This is a book that I think our senior readers will enjoy very much indeed - not just because it's well written with an arresting voice that will really keep them reading and about a fascinating topic - but it's also a book that doesn't feel worthy or improving, it doesn't scream 'school library and treats them like young reading adults who have the right to explore a range of modern diverse reads that will grip and intrigue them and ensure that reading isn't something that they are just forced to do for their English project - this was a solid ten out of ten for me and I'm hoping that our students are as gripped and caught up in it as I was. It was one that I stayed up far too late reading and one that I'll be recommending to the staff as well as our senior students - thank you so much for the chance to read and review; I really loved it and can't wait to discuss it with some of our seniors once they've read it too!

A very interesting read as long as you are open minded to different approaches taken by people. Whilst it offers guidance on how to have a better life, or the life you want, not everyone will necessarily find this works for them. But I always think its important to read and understand all different approaches in order to find the one that works for you. A real scientific approach to the law of attraction.

I enjoyed this book I found it very interesting and informative. For me it does have a touch of fantasy surrounding it though.

Was hoping for better, but it's simply another self-help book praying on the vulnerable to convince them wishing awfully hard will manifest worldly riches. Another nonsense akin to The Secret which ignores there are many many external factors which prevent everyone on the planet from manifesting millions through wishful thinking. An unfinished disappointment.

Really interesting concepts. Good starter for people who want to know more about law of attraction and manifestation but are slightly sceptical about the idea. With useful tools and techniques to change your outlook and help visualise a new path.

Having done a lot of manifestation work, I was intrigued to learn more about the science behind it. "The Source" doesn't disappoint.

Filled with practical exercises supported by anecdotes and scientific research, if you follow the advice in this book, you too can untap the limitless potential of your mind.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC without obligation to review.

Another variation on The Secret. A few too many references to manifesting etc for me - but there is a bit more science involved in this one and some exercises to help you make the most of any opportunities presented.

This is an interesting book similar to the concept of the secret, basically all to do with the power of the mind. With exercises , and stories there was a nice flow to this book that kept it interesting.

I am a great believer in this kind of thing so this book was up my street. I enjoyed it very much, especially the personal stories alongside the scientific. I like the way that you are taught to think of today and the future, rather than the past. Having finished the book, Ive now started to do the activity exercises. I'm a nurse and the things that I've learnt and seen over the years make me truly believe that there is so much more to our soul and brain that we'll ever know.

This book cover is absolutely stunning. A great self help book with some good practical tips. It really did have a very good insight into the brain and it's workings.

A great read for anyone who loved / loves 'The Secret' this is almost like the logic behind it and is inspiring and uplifting, I absolutely loved it!

Dr Tara Swart's THE SOURCE focuses on the power of positive thinking and how the elements of mindfulness and visualization can be used to help improve our lives. Chapter by chapter, Dr Swart details how she came to this way of thinking in her own personal life and career, before outlining how she decided to turn her experience into a method that can be followed by others in order to work towards their own goals and achievements.

I was disappointed to find that this book didn't seem to hold much new information for me, in that there didn't seem to be much I hadn't read before elsewhere about the power of positive thinking, how to approach mindfulness, etc. The author herself references books like THE SECRET, and I felt that THE SOURCE did not provide a great deal of new information that was really any different from the sort of "positive thinking" mindset that has been discussed in books such as THE SECRET, except perhaps that Dr Swart provides several lists of steps to take, whereas THE SECRET is slightly more ephemeral.

Sadly, for me, there wasn't a lot else that I found very stimulating or fresh as a reader. The book felt quite heavily autobiographical at times, and there were also a couple of parts that rubbed me up the wrong way (a casual mention of the author's fondness for a tidy wardrobe being "a bit OCD", a reference I found rather inappropriate from someone working in the psychiatry field; and a sentence that literally said items outside of one's control, such as "...getting married, pregnant, or getting a promotion" will simply "fall into place" once the reader starts doing the things on their To Do list. As someone who has personally experienced infertility, this was a massive clanger for me and a surprisingly conclusive statement to make in a book like this).

That being said, THE SOURCE was still a fairly interesting read at times, with the best parts for me being the various sections about how the brain works and the various studies Dr Swart looked at during her research - that, and the clear, concise steps she gives the reader when it comes to things like the making of vision boards were, for me, the most illuminating aspect.

I'm sorry I couldn't give a higher rating.

This book is great. But it's really for those who haven't read The Secret or alike. It's a great intro into the mind business for those who haven't yet been introduced to the power of our minds, and the fact that most religions speak ultimately about the same things which just lead back to the man himself/herself etc.

So I think this makes for a great gift for someone you wish started reading about how to change your life with your own thinking.

But if you're familiar with this science then I must say I didn't find anything new here. Just the voice of a new writer. But I'm always glad to see more people fighting for this to be heard and seen in a new light. We all prefer personal stories to scientific theories!

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this in exchange for my honest review.

There’s lots to love about The Source, unlike some self help style books, it is easy to understand and forgiving. Ultimately you have the power to change and The Source helps you to tap into the power within.

A nice self-help book that reiterates how to practice the law of attraction, while being backed by scientific results. It took a while to get to the exercises as there were a lot of explanatory chapters and this may be easier to digest as an audiobook, however I did enjoy it and found it worthwhile.

There is a lot of good stuff in this book and most of it is backed up by cited research. Dr Swart uses "the source" as a kind of shorthand for the steps and the changes required to change how you perceive things and how you set your goals and ambitions. I have highlighted loads of this book which is a good sign and I will be using some of the steps described and I have increased my journalling from very occasionally to now and then but I do want to get to do it regularly. The book is well written, the science is all understandable to the lay person and the tone appealed to me.

"On autopilot, we don't question where these underlying, entrenched habits come from and whether they serve us any longer; we switch off and let life happen to us, assuming that much of it is out of our control."

"Having a strong sense of purpose correlates with well-being; it ensures we are goal directed, motivated by a desire for a particular outcome that gives us the tenacity to keep going."

The book has a fair amount of padding and sometimes drifts into non scientific realms but overall I got a lot from it and now I've highlighted the core ideas from the steps I'll be revisiting them.

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley in return for an honest review.

I really enjoyed reading this book, that said it probably goes without saying considering the subject matter of the brain. I have a background in psychology and was interested to read this book because of its various links to the brain and how it works.

It goes into some detail about neuroplasticity, which is a relatively new topic. I mainly came across it through Vishen Lakhiani's, Mindvalley and it is a subject that I will continue to write about.

Although this book was not in the 'couldn't put down' category, it's definitely original and well worth reading.

Many thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a ARC version.
