Got to be honest, I wasn’t feeling the first few chapters, and then, BAM, I fell head over heels in love with bad boy Ashley Dunne. Ash was not selling drugs and breaking legs because he wanted to, no, Ash was stuck in a life of crime because his younger self was trying to provide for his mum and brother. A victim of circumstance trapped in a life of crime, he was considerate and kind with a lethal edge. I loved his interactions with Ryan, who he was besotted with from the very first time he saw her. Two people from entirely different worlds, both knowing that a relationship was impossible. Wonderful writing (dual POV), a story that I truly didn’t want to end. It’s been a long time since I’ve wanted to go straight to the beginning of a book and read it again, I wanted to do it that with My Little Secret. I loved the characters, Ash, Ryan, and all the misfits in and amongst made for an emotional and passionate story, with a few twists. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest review. |
I am afraid I was unable to complete this book and had to resort to skip reading through the second half. Ryan and Ash are interesting characters moving in an intriguing setting, but I felt like the rhythm of the story was off, which ended up distracting me and making me lose interest in it pretty fast. Side note: there’s a sex scene near the beginning of the book between Ash and another girl, before he meets Ryan. I never have problems with this kind of situation but I found this scene was sexier than the later longer scene between Ash and Ryan and this felt weird. |
I'm a sucker for these type of books (especially by L.A Casey) so it didn't surprise me that I loved this one. Ash and Ryan had a great dynamic, along with the secondary characters. Ash really grew onto me and Ryan with her naive mind did too. The plot also never got boring with Ash's personal gang crisis and Ryan's daddy issues. Thank you for the ARC, it was lovely. |
Ashley just leaves his girl speechless at times, “where d’ye live?” My tongue flattened to the roof of my mouth. “Babe,” he said, tilting his head to the side . “I haven’t got all day. Which road do ye’ live on so I can drop the potatoes off at the door?” Ash loves to shower his girl with compliments, "...when he suddenly closed his hand around my bum and fisted a handful of it. “Christ,” Ash growled. “Ye’ve a great arse.” I liked this book, I really fell in love with Ash. |
