Ella wakes up in the hospital not being able to remember the car accident that cost her the life of her unborn baby, in fact, she can’t remember being pregnant at all. She tries to figure out the missing parts of her memory and she discovers secrets, lies, and betrayals along the way. The story kept my interest the whole time, I found the characters intriguing and I did not predict some of the turns and twists in the story. I could not put the book down, I was curious to see how it would end. The book also made me think of what I would do if I were in Ella’s shoes and what choices I would make. I honestly did not care for her that much and I found her husband Damien and Nathan, the retired adventure TV celebrity more interesting. Nevertheless, the book was entertaining and fun to read. Kudos to Kerry Lonsdale for writing another great novel.

Lonsdale, fresh off her popular Everything series, shines with her page-turning stand-alone Last Summer. Readers will immediately be drawn into the story of Ella Skye, a journalist who finds herself hospitalized with short-term memory loss. Suddenly, nothing is as it seems. Not her marriage and not the man she's been interviewing. As she tries to piece together the chunk of time seemingly lost to her, the reader is taken on an exhilarating (and sexy) journey with a surprise twist you won't see coming. Readers, prepare yourself for a fun ride this summer!

I want to thank Author Kerry Lonsdale Netgalley & Lake Union Publishing for the arc of this novel.
Wow, I really don’t even know where to start. Rarely does a book catch me off guard, I usually have the ending figured out before I’m done with the book. Honestly I thought I had with this one too, but boy was I wrong! This book kept me so interested I couldn’t put it down. This was one of those books that I was up until the wee hours of the morning because I had to know how it ended. It did NOT disappoint.
This book follows lifestyle journalist Ella Skye who is assigned to many high profile clients. She meets and marries Damien, the man of her dreams. Life is good until Ella wakes up in the hospital after a car accident and a miscarriage. She also wakes up with no knowledge or memory of ever being pregnant. This sets a very determined Ella on a course to recover all the previous months she can’t recall. In the process, Damien seems off and not forthcoming with all of the details.
Ella is given a follow up assignment for a second chance cover interview with celebrity Nathan Donovan. A shocked Ella, takes the assignment because she has no memory of her previous time with the elusive man and thinks that Nathan may hold the key the her memory loss.
Ella is swept up in a world of love, lies and deceit. Unsure of who she can trust, including her own mind. This book is full of twists, heartbreak and a desire to achieve the happily ever after, at any cost

Great googly moogly. That was such an amazing trip I just took. Come closer. I am going to admit something here. Generally, I know what I'm going to rate a book before I even finish it. A bit short-sighted, but whatever. They're my ratings to do with what I like. With this one, I loved the story, I loved the writing, I loved the characters, but something was bothering the heck out of me. And it was fact that this woman rightfully had so many questions, and she let all the people who could give her the answers off the hook time and time again. She let them placate her with all kinds of versions of "we'll talk later" or "not right now" or "after we have coffee" and myriad other excuses. It was infuriating. I was getting all "bitches be crazy" and thinking that there is no way in hell that anyone would have gotten away without answering every last question I had for one moment longer even if I had to lock them all in a room together and threaten to take away their cell phones so they'd HAVE to talk. So, I knew I was going to rate this 4 stars...and I kept plugging along. Now look back up there - yep, 5 stars. What turned it all around? Because it certainly wasn't my belief that any woman in her right friggin mind would be gullible enough to allow herself to be so easily shut down. Not to mention that our heroine is a journalist. She digs for the truth as her chosen career for all that is holy. Nope, it was the twists and turns this story took. There is such deceit and treachery and manipulation in the storyline, and it was brilliant. I did roll my eyes once and thought, "do you really expect me to believe this?". However, I picked my eyes back up, put them back in my head, and just went with the story. I stand here loudly clapping my hands and bowing to the talent and creativeness of Kerry Lonsdale. This is one author that I will easily read time and time again, just to see what she comes up with next!

I received an ebook ARC for review purposes
I really enjoyed the majority of this story-it grabbed me from the start and I hated to put it down! There were a couple of parts that felt a little forced (for lack of a better word) to me, but overall this was a very solid book. That being said, I would still recommend this to anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers, twisty turns & endings, and plenty of drama. This will leave you wondering if you can ever really know the person you’ve chosen to spend your life with....
Be on the lookout when this is released in July!

Whoa! What did I just read? I had to re-read the last few chapters several times making sure I caught everything! It has more twists and turns than an old country road! I loved the characters and they are so complex with many layers. This book takes you on a ride and asks the question who can you trust? It is a story of secrets, lies, love, and betrayal. This is a definite must read book if you love suspenseful, thrilling books! I received an advanced readers copy and all opinions are my own.

I received an ARC of this novel through Netgalley in exchange for my review. Ella Skye wakes up in a hospital room and can remember everything about her life right up to the part where her husband told her they had lost their baby. The doctors don’t seem to have a good explanation for what happened. Since Ella is a famous reporter, she decides to treat her memory loss like a story she is tracking down to see if she can get to the bottom of her memory loss. Her detective skills lead her to an interview with Nathan Donovan, a famous nature survivalist that she had interviewed in the past. That is when she figures out that her memory loss may not be due to medical issues, but something more suspicious. This story has lots of twists that I didn’t see coming. Kerry Lonsdale is quickly rising on my list of must-read authors!

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. A complex and exhilarating story that will drop a ton of bombs on your heart before it is over. I will warn that the ending is a cliff h hanger. You will be fully committed once you begin reading. Ella wakes with no memory of why she is in the hospital. At first I thought this would be another typical amnesia story. Boy was I wrong! Ella's story was one of love, lies and deceit. Problem is, you will never be quite sure who is doing the lying. I was hooked on every word and can't wait for the next story. Unputdownable!

Another great book by Kerry Lonsdale. Thank you for the early opportunity to read and review this book. Ella Skye journalist wakes up in the hospital and can’t remember months of her life prior to being there. She does know she has a great marriage with Damien but doesn’t remember a very important part of her life that she just lost. In her attempts to get some answers, she finds some truths that she had wanted to block out. Great story, but I really need a sequel.

Ella wakes up in the hospital with no memory of her accident, her loss of the baby she was carrying, or anything that has happened to her in the last seven months. Quite a page turner as she tries to remember her life before...
What happened last summer? You’ll have to read it yourself to find outl

WHAT AN AMAZING BOOK! Perfect for curling up and reading in one long go on a rainy day/ sunny beach/ literally anywhere. Kerry Lonsdale is a genius storyteller and I got totally lost in Last Summer.
I'd absolutely recommend for anyone needing a pick-me-up or a really easy-going read to get into. The only thing I take umbridge with is the CLIFFHANGER at the end - I'm desperate to read the sequel now. Great characterisation, twisty plot, and a lot of fun.

Let me start off by saying Last Summer starts off with tremendous momentum. It continues to build until it reaches a crescendo of unbelievable proportions. If twisty psychological books are your thing then Kerry's book will hold you captive. Fast paced and crazy pick it up ASAP and enjoy the roller coaster ride. Thank you Kerry Hall Lonsdale for the ARC. #LastSummer #NetGalley

Last Summer is a thought provoking book that is well plotted and has many twists. Nothing in this story is extraneous- each word/sentence serves a purpose to somehow further the plot even when you don't realize it. It is so rare that a book surprises me that I almost didn't recognize the feeling. The basic plot surrounds a woman named Ella who wakes up in the hospital after an accident to find that she has no memory of every being pregnant with her husband's child or losing the baby in a horrific car accident. In fact, her memory loss actually occurs several days after the accident when supposedly she had already learned the news. This is a book that is hard to put down so make certain you have plenty of time to enjoy this wild ride!

4.5 stars
Kerry Lonsdale knows how to write a gripping novel and Last Summer definitely is that.
This novel follows Ella who has awoken in a hospital following a terrible accident that she doesn't remember and suffering the loss of a pregnancy she doesn't recall having. From there the story begins as Ella tries to remember what she's forgotten and hold onto a marriage she feels is suffering due to her memory loss.
While I did figure out some of the twists early on many were surprises as well so the book kept me on my toes from the first pages. I personally found this novel hard to put down and read it very quickly.
If you like twisty books this will be your jam, especially if you like one with a bit of mystery involved.
Thank you to Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for an eARC copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

Difficult to categorize, that said I liked this book, Starts with main character in hospital after mva. Hubby beside her. Finds out she lost her baby in accident. Problem number one, she has no recollection of being pregnant...
As a journalist this poses a large problem( as if personal life not bizarre enough) first assignment after acc. Is with adventurous tv sportsman. Problem? She spent several weeks with him "Last Summer" and does not remember. All her notes are gone from her computer. Hubby acting distant...Whats going on? What happened? Good book, read it and see if you figure it out...

Another well written book by Kerry Lonsdale.
Intriguing characters and storyline
Ella wakes in hospital following and accident and subsequent loss of her baby with no memory of her pregnancy or the time leading up to it.
What is causing her memory loss?
This book tells Ella’s story as she struggles to come to terms with the loss of her baby and her memory. What lies behind the memory loss? Are there secrets to be found, will she find all the answers and if so what will happen next?
Thanks go to Kerry and Netgalley for allowing me the opportunity to read early in exchange for an honest review

First of all this book is a knockout! I absolutely could not put it down! As a reader, the story draws you in right away, by the 6th chapter I could not put it down. The momentum of the character development, complexities, and arcing and sparking lines will steam-roll you! At some point after reading for six hours straight, I accepted that I would be up all night finishing the book!
I'm not sure emotionally which characters I love, like, despise, and feel for, however, they were all astounding and perplexing!
I have had the opportunity to advance read all of Kerry's books and this is my current favorite! I recommend it and think it would be a great introduction into her work as an author!

I loved everything about this suspenseful novel from Kerry Lonsdale. She's at the top of her game with Last Summer, which left me guessing until the end. There's a love triangle and memory loss to deal with. The ending is conclusive, but there's an opening for a sequel.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Lake Union publishing for an advanced read in exchange for this review.
I love Kerry Lonsdale. The Everything series was one of my favorite reads over the past couple of years, so I was excited to see that she had a new book. It did not disappoint!
Ella Skye is a lifestyle journalist who has been in a horrible car accident. She's lost a pregnancy. Her husband is devastated. However, she does not remember ever being pregnant. As Ella tries to recover, she's given an official interview with a retired adverturer - Nathan Donovan. Ella does not remember him either, but he seems to know more about her. She follows him on an adventure and slowly begins to realize that not only are people hiding things from her, she is hiding things from herself. Will she figure out the truth?
What I really appreciate about Lonsdale's writing is she does such a fantastic job developing characters. Even though they are not perfect, you can't help but to connect with all of them. Also, she writes a lot about the human memory and its limitations. The twists in her novel are not too over the top. I was captivated by this story as Ella worked to figure out the mysteries around her life and why she could not remember important things. Lonsdale also captures the grief and struggle of other characters who are affected by Ella's memory. The only downside is that we have to wait over a year for her next novel!

This was my first book by this author and I totally enjoyed it. I liked her writing style and truly cared about the characters. There were many twists and turns through this novel. A few of which I didn’t see coming. I didn’t have time to sit and read this book for long periods at a time but it stayed on my mind and I couldn’t wait until I had a chance to get back to it! Can’t wait to read more by this author!
