I was fortunate to read the uncorrected proof of this novel, the book will be published in July. I'm already familiar with Kerry Lonsdale's work, because I've read her all her previous books and I like her style. So this is my honest review. Ella Skye panics when she wakes up in a hospital with no memory of the accident she suffered in which she lost her unborn baby, which she also doesn't remember, she has no memory of having been pregnant and her husband Damien thinks she's lying. Ella is a journalist in a celebrity magazine, when she returns to work she’s assigned to an exclusive interview with the handsome extreme outdoor adventurer Nathan Donovan, she doesn't remember him, but they knew each other, In the course of those days of the interview she discovers things she never imagined. I devoured the book because it had me hooked from the very first page, I literally didn’t want to put it down the day I started reading it, but It was 2 in the morning and I had to wake up early to go to work (so annoying). The story is fast paced, full of emotions, from the characters and yours too!, as Ella had no memory it was very intriguing to discover things along with her, and the twists, oh my goodness!! I can’t even. One thing's for sure, this story will keep you entertained. This book is my new Kerry Lonsdale’s favorite. Thank you to Kerry, NetGalley and the publisher for this opportunity. |
A wonderfully enticing romantic storyline combined with a thrilling mystery of missing memories will leave you wanting more by the end. I could not put this book down! I was so entranced with all the characters, who I thought I was getting to know completely and yet come to find out I never fully knew the entire book. When I finally reached the end it left me wanting more of the story. I am so grateful that I received an ARC of this book and did not have to wait until July 2019. |
Wow, this story really was a sucker punch! Twisted, yet not quite diabolical, but close. Ella awakens in the hospital, with no memory of why she is there or what happened. Her husband Damien is vague and obviously hiding something, as he avoids answering her questions. She is told she had a stillborn baby after an accident, but has no memory of being pregnant or even the accident. So begins her journey in trying to recover what happened Last Summer. A twisted tale of love, secrets, betrayal and heartbreak. Don’t even try to anticipate an outcome, because you will fail. Kerry Lonsdale is a gifted story teller, with a talent for great character development. It’s all here! I receive an ARC for my honest review. Thanks to #NetGalley, #KerryLonsdale and #AmazonPublishing. I loved this book! |
What would you do for someone you love? How far would you go for your child? I devoured this book in 2 days. I couldn’t stop wondering what was going to happen. I have loved Kerry’s other books so I had high expectations of this book. It did not disappoint! So many questions and so many twists. I found myself loving Nathan and feeling so sorry for Ella. I can’t wait to read the sequel!! |

I found this story to be a bit predictable and the twist unoriginal. I feel like I've read too many stories recently that are similar to this one. With that said, I found this to be a fast read. |
Wow; what a thrilling ride. I couldn’t stop reading and spent an afternoon and evening doing nothing else. You won’t be able to put this one down until so many pieces of the puzzle are answered. Great locations for scenery (took me back to my visit to the area many years ago). Such an exciting twist of a story and the ending...!!!! Perfect! Thanks to the author for the ARC. Kerry Lonsdale never disappoints! |

Another awesome book by Kerry Lonsdale. From the beginning of the book, I was drawn in and hooked. The characters were intriguing and the storyline kept me guessing. I could not put this book down and why would I even try? It was that good! I loved it |
I loved this book! This is my favorite book she has written so far. I read the first 2 pages at work and I was hooked. I could not wait to get home to devour it. The 3 main characters were all so well developed. The plot twists and turns surprised me and then BAM shocker! I did not want this book to end. I stayed up way to late enjoying every word. It was fast paced and I want more! This book was so original and ends in a way you just do not see coming! |

Amazing ! Twist after twist after twist. All so devious ! I read this in one day. Could not put it down. Through the whole book I liked these characters and felt for them for all they had been through. But in the end, OMG ! These people !!!!!!!! Blown away by the concept. Such a well written, fast paced crazy book !! #buythebook #teamnathan |
This book was definitely one that I didn’t want to put down even when I was supposed to be sleeping (I work nights). I love all of Kerry’s books because her characters are relatable and you feel attached to them. Even after you are done with the book they stay in your mind and make it hard not to want to read the book all over again. They make you laugh, smile, and even cry with the different circumstances going on in their lives. I really enjoyed this story because like in her “Everything...” series there are three main characters. Each one unique, but then not so different from each other. Just when you think you figured out the plot, here comes the twist! I truly recommend this book to anyone who likes to stay on their toes and likes surprises! Once again, amazing storytelling from one of my favorite authors. I’m very proud and honored to have received an advanced copy of this book and to be part of the Tiki family! |
This story is so powerful and moving that it'll be hard to even discuss it without getting caught up in those emotions. As a mother the worst is losing your memory and not being able to recall the most precious moments of their children's lives or worse their children. Folks I don't know about you but when this came up on NetGalley I immediately requested and then tried to work my way up to it on my ever revolving TBR list. It was so far up the front that I immediately jumped the line to get to it...Literally I couldn't wait so my apologies to other author's waiting for reviews. Last Summer is an action packed, non stop, heart pounding thriller! It all began with a young lady as a journalist named Ella who was involved in a horrific car accident and can't recall her memory or the days events. The key to it all is locked into memory with her husband Damian and the events that led up to their quaint intimate wedding but unfortunately she can't recall anything about the loss of her child. Memory suppression was a key to Dr. Irwin Whitley's job as a cognitive scientist and he was the expert. Could the unimaginable and unthinkable have happened here in which certain memories were locked in while other parts suppressed on purpose? Manipulation? or Monster? Well Ella, Damien, and Nathan are 'All Stars' in every right. They are all in play on this game of cat and mouse and certainly an issue comes up about love, marriage, and procreation. Children are essential to many newlyweds but what if you're unable to experience such and need assistance in having your own biological child? What if adoption is necessary? What if other means may be utilized? Trickery, forgery, and outright lies can never be successful but what if it's for good reason does that make it acceptable? What if good intentions overrides the crime of passion? OMG! I'm beyond myself thrilled to have been blessed with this ARC as I've been a fan for years. Thank you Kerry, the publisher, NetGalley, and Aldiko for this ARC in exchange for this honest review. |
If there were 10 stars, I definitely would give this book all 10 stars. I quickly became immersed in the book, and couldn't put it down. The story line was very easy to follow, and the ending of the book was like no other book I have read. I started to really fall in love with the handsome outside enthusiast, Nathan, and my heart ached for him throughout the book. His loss truly resonated with me, and I still can't stop thinking about him. I will read more books by this author anytime she has one. |
Simply amazing!!!!! Ella wakes up in a hospital. She was in a horrible accident and lost her unborn baby. But she has no memory of the accident and her pregnancy. As she tries to regain her memory she finds herself wondering if she wants her memories back. The story is riveting and has a twist at the end I never saw coming! I hope there will be a sequel to this book! I highly recommend this book! |
This book had me hooked from the first page. It was hard to put down. I wanted to know how it was going to end and now that I do......I want more. Ella was such a likable character. Her not remembering what happened to her was heartbreaking. I can't imagine waking up and finding out you lost a child you can't remember. Damien was so good to Ella, but my heart ached for her because he wouldn't open up about his grief over losing their baby. I don't know how I feel about her interaction with Nathan Donovan and their time together. I think Ella helped him through the loss of his son and the end of his marriage but my feelings about their time together is murky. I didn't like how things ended in Alaska. I wanted to reach out and smack him myself. Ella through out this novel is dealing with grief, guilt, blame, and finding forgiveness. I think she was able to finally get and give the forgiveness she needed but IF this story continues I wonder if that will remain. Kerry Lonsdale......wow!! I did not see this one coming and I LOVED it!!! I received an ARC from NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to both. This book was a thrill ride. |
Last Summer is a captivating new novel by Kerry Lonsdale. Lonsdale shines again by diving into the tough questions: what secrets are we keeping from our spouses/significant others and if you could erase a tragic memory or event completely-would you? Readers meet journalist Ella Skye and cyber security expert Damien Russell, a golden couple by most standards, during a devastating loss-their unborn son who was killed in a car accident that Ella can't remember. In fact, Ella doesn't remember being pregnant. Lonsdale skillfully peels back the layers of this more-than-meets-the eye story. Ella and Damien appear to have it all but underneath their California cool lifestyle they each have secrets that are harming their relationship. Why doesn't Ella remember the accident-let alone her pregnancy? Just how does handsome outdoor extremist Nathan Donovan-a celebrity and interview Ella can't recall-fit in? This provocative story challenges readers to ask themselves how far are they willing to go to create and protect the life they want. Her first novel after the acclaimed Everything series, Lonsdale has hit another home run. The story is fast paced, captivating and twisting-her unique style exploring psychological issues and theories continues to be a success. Characters are flawed but draw you in and I found myself rooting for Ella in spite of her shortcomings. The twists keep coming and the ending left me speechless and wanting more-a hallmark of a great read! This book is a must-have in your beach bags this summer. |
WOW!! loved this book, it’s definitely a winner. Well written, easy to read with well developed characters. A book you will not want to put down. Twists and turns abound in ways you would never expect. A little romance, a lot of psychological thriller and suspense, this is a book that will stay with you. |

Well done! I was hooked from the get-go. This spine-tingling read had elements of a mystery with a twist at the end. A seemingly perfect couple had elements of some distrusts which may have brought on the actions that took place throughout this book. At times, I was led to believe that it was another person who not to trust, and then low and behold, it turns out to be someone else. I don't want to give anything away. Trust me, if you like a good mystery/thriller, you'll enjoy this fast-paced entertaining book. Thank you NetGalley and the author for this ARC. |

I love this author, I loved this book just as much! It made me laugh, cry and even angry. You will think you know what’s going to happen but don’t hold your breath. The last 25% will have you saying “didn’t see that coming”! I didn’t want it to end but had such a hard time putting it down. When this book comes out this summer, get it! You will not be disappointed!! |
If you enjoyed Kerry Lonsdale's "Everything" trilogy and the stand-alone "All the Breaking Waves," this is a must read. She is a gifted story teller and writer who excels at creating storylines that take her characters (and readers) in unpredictable directions. I like that! "Last Summer" has twists and turns, and love and romance and a bit of s-e-x, deception, gorgeous people, and an "OMG" factor that made it hard to put down. The three main characters - Ella, Damien, and Nathan - are, in their own ways, sympathetic and vulnerable, and you feel their desperation as they make their way through life's challenges. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised (and would love) to see a follow up. (Hint, hint!). I am an early reviewer, in exchange for an honest review. |
