Having been in menopause many years due to an emergency complete hysterectomy, I was intrigued by the concept of the book. It didn't seem to really go deep enough, and yet seemed way too long. Plus, only four body types seems like it isn't enough. We are far more varied than that.

Took a bit of understanding but it was quite informative, not your normal menopause book!
Thank you netgalley

An interesting concept. For someone new to the theories of yin and yang there was a lot to take in. I think it would maybe need reading a couple of times to fully get it. Thought provoking though.

This was a weighty read, so full was it with in-depth topics, studies, FYIs like gingko nuts being poisonous, but also considered a healing item for certain conditions. It took me a long time to get through this one, and I did bookmark some excellent points related to the onset of menopause. I'll keep this book handy, as I'm sure that as my menopause journey begins, I'll pass through many phases that the book covers. I'm happy to have read through it now for advance notice on effects and practices, and found it heavy yet packed with fascinating details.

This book was interesting and a bit different to what I expected. At first the pervading sailing references throughout the contents page put me off as I really don't relate to it. I found the information quite indepth, so will take a bit to process some of the ideas.
Thanks to NetGalley for the review copy. The opinions expressed are my own.

I read this book shortly before my 49th birthday and I’m so glad I did! Packed full of useful information and tips on how to deal with the common complaints of menopause, I’m sure it will become a ‘go to’ resource for the next few years of my life. It provides practical, useable information and dispels some of the myths surrounding the ‘change’.

Having discovered that I am a YIn Type A , I can now use some of the recommendations to optimise my health and improve my wellbeing.

I was fortunate to receive a complimentary digital copy of this book (through NetGalley) in return for an honest review.

Yin Yang Balance for Menopause has some interesting information, but I don't think you can neatly fit women into 4 categories. This would not be my go-to book on menopause.

A self-help book written with the intention of empowering women to cope with the menopause. The writer identifies four body types and suggests how each type should deal with various symptoms.
Much of the advice given is common sense and applies to everyone, not matter what their body type. Nevertheless there are some interesting observations on menopausal symptoms and I found the chapter on hot flashes thought-provoking.
However, overall I found the book rather disappointing. It seems far too simplistic to divide all women into one of four neat categories. Despite lengthy chapters on how to work out your body type, I was still unable to work out where I fitted in.
Menopause has so many unanswered questions surrounding it and this book qualifies everything with "possibly", "probably" and " maybe" so there is no sense of a confident answer.
At the end of the day, this book didn't come up with anything helpful for me.

Very helpful book about menopause. A great read for others who, like me, receive acupuncture therapy to help with menopausal symptoms.
