I really like Bette Lee's books. And this one was no exception. Her subject matter was a bit darker in this one, the abduction of a baby from her home, her crib. My heart broke for the parents of little Emmy. I burned with indignation at the abductor, wanting justice. Well written (as always) and very compelling. Plenty of heartbreak moments and outright blubbing. I'm just not sure about the ending. Would it really be that easy? I'm just not sure about that. . Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the free ARC.

Ten stars to this author for writing a novel that is beyond all expectations and is everything a story should be. Fabulous writing style, a plot so different you won't see it coming, and characters that you can truly empathize with. This was SOME read, My only question is, why did the book have to end? Mesmorizing and a not to be missed read. Highly recommend!

Losing a child is devastating for a parent. When Rachel Dixon's baby girl was kidnapped from her crib, heartbreaking does not even begin to describe the feelings.
A roller coaster of emotions as a marriage is tested, life goes on and a baby is never forgotten. A story of grief and healing. Tugging at my heartstrings as I kept reading.
This was an intense book that captivated me from start to finish.
Keep tissues close by for those tears.

Thank you NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the opportunity to read this amazing story.

This was such an amazing book - I finished it a couple of days ago and am still thinking about it. Bette Lee Crosby did an amazing job conveying the sense of loss experienced by Rachel Dixon when her baby daughter, Emily, was kidnapped. She also did an amazing job with the character of Vicki, the woman who took Rachel's daughter. At first, it's easy to crucify Vicki as a monster for taking another woman's child, but as the story unfolds you can see the events that unfolded that drove her to do so and the psychological issues she was dealing with (which of course still did not make the kidnapping okay). This is a book that you won't want to put down once you start. It grips you from the beginning and keeps you hooked as you hope that somehow Emily is found and reunited with the Dixon's. I highly recommend this book!

Emily, Gone by Bette Lee Crosby is such a wonderful book. It is a bittersweet story that will have you crying but, then, at the end, smiling. It begins with a terrible tragedy that has a wonderful, heartwarming ending. Bette Lee at her finest. I became so engaged with this story that I read it in one sitting.

Sitting down with a new Betty Lee Crosby book is like sitting down with an old friend. You know you are going to enjoy a great few hours. I was not disappointed when I picked up Emily, Gone. Ms Crosby has a way of writing that makes you feel like you are right there in the story, She reveals all the characters and you can’t wait to turn the pages and get to know them better. Her stories all have lessons and usually the main character is someone super special. Gone , Emily is no exception. As the main character, Rachel, unfolds it is remarkable to comprehend her sorrow and yet her extreme compassion. It is a beautiful story of loss and love of family and how two families come together in what could have been a heartbroken situation. More people in this world should be like Rachael and the others characters in the book. It is truly just a beautiful story.

Wow! Seldom is a book woven so well and tightly as this book is constructed! If that sounds boring, rest assured this book is anything but boring. The book blurb gives us the sketch of the plot of this story, but it does not give us a hint at the superb writing style, the plot twists or the tear-jerking conclusion. Every word that was written belonged in this story. Every sentence was necessary and added to the plot. I have read every, or nearly every, book Bette Lee Crosby has written and I have enjoyed each one, but this stands alone as the most engrossing and most well-told book she has written. Needless to say, I stayed up way later last night than I should have, telling myself "One more chapter", before I had to put the book down and finish it today.

What a wonderful story!

This was different to books I normally read. I was expecting a straightforward read about a missing child, maybe details about a lengthy search or continued drama. The book turned out to be different to what I was expecting in many ways. It first of all seemed over before it had begun but this was to turn out to be just the beginning of the story. At only 25% of the way through I couldn’t see how it was going to develop but develop it did and I really did not want to put this book down. I have been away for work and yet I found myself picking up the book for ‘just 5 minutes’. I couldn’t wait to get to the end butnow I have i am disappointed. The story kept me hooked right to the end. I thought It was going to be a rushed ending after a drawn out story but it wasn’t at all. I really recommend this book, the style of writing was easy to read and, while at first i could have disliked some of the characters, I found myself being able to empathize with them all. I’m so glad I picked up this book

This was a beautiful family drama, containing fascinating and complex characters. There an element of a mystery ingrained, and no one was perfect. I will be happy to read more books by this author.

I was unable to read more than about 15 pages of this book when I decided to stop reading it. I didn't care for the writing or the characters and how close minded they were not allowing the music festival, throwing temper tantrums over it screaming at the sherriff-just not my cup of tea at all. The plot sounded interesting when I read the description of the book and about the missing child but I just couldn't stomach the characters and their whining.

Bette Lee Crosby has done it again. Received this book from Net Galley, Portraying both sides of this heartbreaking story without passing judgement on anyone. BABY Emily is kidnapped from her crib at 6months old...her Mother is killed in accident and she is raised by her Aunt and Uncle, considering them her parents. A chance car breakdown finds them with her birth family and unravels the history of her true parentage. Devastating to all but how they work it all out was done with class and love on both sides.
Highly recommend!

Exciting, unique, unusual and a real tearjerker. Be prepared to read this book from start to finish in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. The plot is outstanding. One cannot second guess what happens to these characters. Bette Lee Crosby has written another award winning story.

A crime of opportunity: a grieving, unhinged young woman breaks into a home looking for food — and comes out with a 6-month-old baby she's convinced is her own stillborn child. While her boyfriend agonizes over how to get the baby girl back to her parents, Vicki settles right in as a mom. Meanwhile Rachel finds it impossible to get over the loss of her baby. There are plenty of wonderful small-town characters, and this story of grief, resilience, and healing is compelling and well written. This book should come with a warning label: Don't start reading this unless you can commit to the whole novel immediately!
