I enjoyed this book because it was full of emotion. The two main characters meet up after many years. He doesn't realise that he is a father and a grandfather. The book tells of the troubles that they have gone through and now they have the chance of happiness again. I would recommend this book to be read.

Kara, pregnant, abandoned by her own parents, and deceived by Harry’s parents. They gave her some money and sent her away , promising to pass on letters to Harry and that soon as he’d graduated he’d send for her, but in reality told him nothing.

Fast forward 27 years & Harry reappears in Kara's life to unexpectedly find out he is a father. The story follows their journey as Kara & Harry reconnect & Phil gets to know his father.

Well, there’s a few 5 star reviews for this story so I really expected to enjoy it but unfortunately it kind of underwhelmed me. It’s one of those that seems like a good book, just not a great one for me.

Loved this emotional, heartwarming, engaging and relatable second chance romance filled with longing, regret, family dram, forgiveness and passion.... This is a thrilling and sweetly sexy romance filled with witty banter, lovable charters and life altering, regrettable miscalculations. Loved this journey and looking forward to more from this series.

This beautifully written second-chance romance immediately pulled me in and I held on for a rollercoaster ride of emotions, unable to put the book down until I read the last word. I laughed, cried, sighed, rolled my eyes, and I loved every minute of it! I felt a real connection to smart and independent Kara and enjoyed her dynamic with the other characters especially her granddaughter, Jessica, and Harry, who she hadn't seen in 27 years when he shows up at her Seattle art gallery opening.

The Road Leads Back is the perfect debut for the Stonehill series and a must-read for fans of this genre. This is the first book I have read by Marci Bolden and I look forward to reading more by this gifted author. She far exceeded my expectations with this heartwarming and at times heart wrenching contemporary romance.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my voluntary and unbiased review. I liked it so much, I purchased a copy for my keeper library.

This was so good! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I really enjoyed. I would most certainly recommend. Will be looking to see what else Ms. Bolden has written.

Kara and Harry have a huge crush on each other all through high school. However, they are both painfully shy so, they never act on those feelings until Graduation night. Kara wakes up the next morning, to find herself alone in her friends bed and, Harry is nowhere to be found. When Kara realizes she is pregnant, she tells her parents, only to be literally thrown out and, told to NEVER come back. She finds Harry's parents' address and, goes to this home. When she tells his mother about her problem and his mother ships her out the next day to a commune on the West Coast that cares for pregnant young girls. This becomes home to Kara and her son for the next 27 years. When Kara feels all the anger and resentment bubbling up again, she moves on then, always returns sooner or later.
When Kara has her first art show in an Oregon Gallery, who does she see but Harry. Harry, who is shocked when he sees her but, even more amazed when he sees the 27 ear old man standing next to Kara, who is his spitting image!!!
Harry manages to talk Kara and Phil into returning home with him because,, he truly believes that they all need to face the past and put it behind them. This is a story about a second chance with the love of your life.
It is a uniquely original, perfectly paced ebb and flow, story that you do not want to miss!.

I thought the representation of family in this book was a real eye opener. Some families might work this way, but I thought it was really harsh. Although I am certain some people have been in that situation. I think the relationship between Kara and Harry progressed rather quickly and they made some decisions that should have waited until the whole situation had time to cool down and start to heal. I didn't like how Kara had to leave to heal, but I am glad Harry went after her.

The feelings in this book are a lot of back and forth, like life.

Kara and Harry spent one night together which resulted in Kara being left alone and pregnant. Her family rejects her and so she leaves town and gives birth to a son Phil with the help of Harry's mother who promises that she will tell Harry.

Twenty seven years later they meet again at an art exhibition and she realises that Harry never knew about Phil and that he is now also a grandfather. Phil ask them all to move back home with him but they all have a lot of emotionss to work through - Harry is furious with his mother for not telling him and Kara has not been back since her family rejected her.

This is a great story of family emotions and how hard it can be to forgive and forget and move on
