Layla has always found herself attracted to or men are attracted to her that are on the bad boy side of life. Now being away from her ex-fiancé who by the why was as it turned to also be a murder. She finds herself attracted to Xavier. She really does not know anything about him other than he is in finance. She would like to start something anything with him but after a kiss and then another of hot making out he shuts her down. She has now shut him down. That all comes to a screeching halt when she is kidnapped. Why because someone is really after Xavier. His real job hit-man and he now has to find her and tell her everything. Even the one thing that he dreads he wants to be with her. What will happen? Read this fast paced and exciting story to find out. Really liked this book with all of the different characters.

Visiting Redemption Harbor is like coming home and catching up with old friends. Although each book is a standalone read with its own HEA, there are friends and colleagues from previous books that give a real depth each story. Xavier and Layla's story in "Chasing Vengeance" is filled with drama, suspense, falling in love, and a connection that is hard to deny. The last book in the series, I am sad to be leaving the "Harbor", but look forward to the next great series by Katie Reus. **I was gifted copy of "Chasing Vengeance" from NetGalley. Leaving a review is voluntary and completely my own.** 5 Stars!

Finishing this wonderfully suspenseful series is Xavier and Layla. When Xavier's past puts Layla in danger, they forego trying to be "just friends" any longer. This was a great story, and there were a few twists to keep it interesting. I'm glad Xavier saw the light, and his abuela is glad too! Sorry to see this series conclude, but it was great nonetheless!

This is the next story in the Redemption Harbor series and we get to catch up with all of our favorite couples. Layla was introduced in the last book as a good friend of Nova’s who Gage helped out of a bad situation. The romance between Gage and Nova needed a little push and Layla’s life-threatening problem brought them together. Now she is part of the Redemption Harbor group of friends and she is eyeing Xavier as her new best friend, hopefully with some benefits.

Xavier is a mystery man. We are aware he’s a dangerous man with a very dangerous job. He doesn’t want to risk falling for someone only to put them in danger. But the pull with Layla is new for him. Can he deny himself, especially after he knows she feels something for him too? But Xavier’s job has drawn the attention of the wrong person. He is out for revenge and is going to get it through Layla.

This is another suspenseful and fast moving story with just the right amount of heat and you should enjoy the entire series but if this is the only one, it is easy to read for a stand alone….

I binge read the series in the span of two days and I shocked when I reached the final page of the book and found out that this is the final book in the Redemption Harbor series. After seven books, it's time we said goodbye to these characters and that made me a little sad. I do feel like the author could have given a better ending to our characters, but at least this way we have room for the author to revisit the series if she wants to do that someday. The ending was good, but not perfect.

For most of the book, I was picturing myself running after Xavier with a rolling pin, on one hand, trying to make him see how wrong he was. He was so hot and cold when it came to making Layla his which was frustrating. He could have acted a lot better in some situations, but it's all water under the bridge now, I guess. Layla was quite likable and a good person. If you have read the previous book, you will know that her former fiance was not a good man and she is now trying to have a normal life. Of course, when Xavier is your soulmate that possibility flys out of the window. Especially considering that someone is trying to harm her and she and Xavier must run and hide until they find out who that person is.

The suspense part of the story was the part I liked the most. Xavier's reluctance to have Layla in his life because of his profession while was understandable to some extent, made me wanna throw some sense into him and it made him treat her badly in some cases which is the reason why I wasn't a big fan of the romance in this story. Overall though, I would not only recommend the book, but also the series.

Well it is here at last. Chasing Vengeance is book 7 and final story in the Redemption Harbor series. It is a must read although you would be best reading the series in order. You will not be disappointed. This book centres on ex-hitman Xavier and Layla. Loads of action, romance and a great story.

I received this ARC from NetGalley for an honest review. All views are my own.

Woohoo! Another fantastic Redemption Harbor story that might be my favorite so far. This one hits all my soft spots and Xavier is on my list of book boyfriends! He's swoon worthy! Starting with one of the sexiness names and moving on to just all out sexy with his handsome face, hard body, alpha attitude and a sense of humor. I love a guy with a badass profession and hitman certainly meets that criteria. Although being a hitman doesn't lend itself to having a romantic relationship, Layla is a temptation that Xavier tries to ignore without much success. Layla doesn't believe that her luck with men has changed so she's not surprised by Xavier's reaction to her. But all is not as it seems and when Xavier shows his true colors it's hot. Great connection between these two. When one of Xavier's many enemies puts Layla in danger he jumps into action to save his woman and defeat the bad guys. I love a good suspense romance and this hits all the marks from the fantastic, sexy characters to the intriguing, danger-filled storyline to the wonderful RH characters from previous stories. The strong community feel of the story is terrific as all RH folks rally to keep Layla safe. I can't wait for the next one. Spectacular writing! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC. 4.5 stars

Layla is attempting to start over in Redemption Harbor with the help of her bestie and lots of wine and since her and relationships don’t mix she has no business fantasizing about her sexy and funny new friend, Xavier. A good hitman has no business forging a personal life and no matter how much he wants Layla, wanting her puts a target on her back and Xavier is determined to keep her safe.

The final book in the Redemption Harbor is an exciting, explosive and emotional story that holds readers captive from the very beginning. Xavier and Layla are strong, vivid characters that are full of volatile chemistry that flows from the pages as they easily draw readers into their tempestuous romance. Xavier and Layla prove the adage that opposites attract in that Layla is quite feisty and Xavier is reserved but there is no denying the sparks and the magnetic attraction between these two as they navigate the their rocky relationship which if full of emotional turmoil as Xavier is determined to stay away.

This fast paced and smooth flowing plot steadily builds up the thrilling suspense with adrenaline pumping action and unexpected twists that ensure that the hero and heroine along with the readers are surprised. During all the excitement of this story, readers may want to pay special attention to an explosive car chase and the creative way Xavier puts a stop to it (chills). While readers are sad that the series is ending, they can’t help but enjoy this spectacular conclusion from beginning to end.

It is always sad to see the finale to a series, but this one ended on a high note, and for a romance reader a wedding is always a good place to end.

If you are looking for a warm, sweet and steamy romance, with a hitman falling for a substitute teacher who can handle more than she thinks, add in danger, intrigue, and the support of a group of people that treat each other like family then get your hands on CHASING VENGEANCE.

What an awesome read! I truly am sad as this is the last book in this series and my heart is broken. I fell in love with all these characters and Xavier and Layla was no exception. Layla and Xavier were friends with deep feelings for each other but Xavier felt he couldn't be with her because of his current lifestyle. After some angst and Xavier finally getting his act together, him and Layla find their HEA! Filled with all past characters, action, humor, hot sex and so much love between all of them made for a marvelous read. I loved it. 4.5 Strong stars****

Katie Reus saved the best for last! Xavier is my favorite hero in the Redemption Harbor Security series. He is perfectly imperfect, and I loved everything about him! Layla and Xavier are by far my favorite couple in this series!

Chasing Vengeance by Katie Reus is book 7 in the Redemption Harbor Series. This is the story of Xavier and Layla. This could be made into a standalone book but it is a great series so you might not want to miss it.
Layla is feeling bruised after some bad choices she has made one being almost married to a murder and another big one was trying to kiss Xavier. Now she is just trying to move forward making better decisions...or trying too. Xavier is a hit man who is now working with Redemption Harbor Consulting team but he knows someone as sweet as Layla shouldn't be for him. Layla would have to accept his lifestyle and she would also possibly be put in danger....so he tries to stand his resisting ground. But when he realizes she going to be stepping out with someone else he can not longer stand on the sidelines. But of course there is danger adding to their story.
Exciting Read!

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

All I can say is that I am so sad this is the last book in the Redemption Harbor series! Layla and Xavier are friends and they would each like more but Xavier doesn't want to endanger Layla with his life as an assassin.

Poor Layla is treated to hot and cold from Xavier as he tries to keep his desire tamped down but keeps giving in a bit each time they are together.

When Xavier's past catches up and endangers Layla, he rushes her to safety and uses the Redemption Harbor gang to help in tracking the person behind the attempts on Layla's life.

Lots of intrigue, drama, and romance fill this book and it is a bittersweet end as Layla and Xavier get their HEA but this is the last book in this series!

Katie Reus is the bomb! I love her books, most especially this series, this was the last book in the series and though I long for more the ending was very satisfying. I loved seeing Layla at last, getting her HEA.

Chasing Vengeance by Katie Reus is part of the Redemption Harbour series.
Xavier is a professional hitman who has become friends with a woman named Layla. Layla is sweet and an innocent in most of the ways of the world. Except she has a lying, murdering, dead ex in her past. Xavier is hardened, battle weary and very good at his job so he has enemies. When his enemies target Layla he has to stop avoiding her and keep her alive.
I always enjoy reading Katie Reus books and can't wait for more.

Chasing Vengeance is the seventh and final book in the Redemption Harbor series. After narrowly escaping death at the hands of her ex-fiance Layla has moved to Redemption Harbor to start over and be closer to her best friend Nova. One of the new friends she makes is hitman Xavier and although the relationship is platonic Layla would like more. Xavier is determined to keep her at arms-length thinking no woman could ever accept his career choices. When things do start to escalate between them, his past rears it’s head. Now Xavier will do whatever it takes to protect Layla even from himself.

Katie Reus is an author whose books I can pick up and know I’m going to enjoy. Her characters are well rounded and her plots always keep the pressure building until the very end. One of the best things about her books are, although she writes series, each book can be read as a standalone without giving away any details which might spoil your enjoyment of any previous book in the series.

I am so sad that this is the end of the Redemption Harbor Series. I have loved all the characters and relished their stories. This last story about Layla and Xavier was so enjoyable. The hit man comes in from the cold was my subtitle for it because that is exactly what Xavier had to do to win his girl, and join the Redemption Harbor crew. Layla was a a great strong female lead. As always, I will read almost anything Katie Reus writes. I don’t read paranormal soo that series is out for me, but anything else she writes is automatically a “one click” buy for me.

This is the final installment of the Redemption Harbor Security series, and while I am sad to see the series end, I also feel like this is a good place to tie it all up.

Layla hasn’t had the best of luck with men, and that’s an understatement. After running to her best friend, Nova, in order to save herself from her ex-fiance, Layla isn’t in a hurry to start a new relationship. But meeting Axel’s friend, Xavier, at a wedding sparks a new friendship and a flame that Layla does her best to keep hidden. After all, she isn’t confident that she can pick a good man anymore, though Xavier doesn’t always look like a good man.

Xavier is blown away by Layla, but knows he needs to keep his attraction on the down low. He isn’t the man she thinks he is, and he isn’t ready for her to meet his truth. It’s easier if they remain friends, keep in touch via technology, and get together platonically when he is in town. But his best efforts to keep the two sides of his life separate have crumbled, and his worst fears are brought forth: Layla is in danger because of him.

I loved these two together. Layla is everything sweet and good, while Xavier is hard and dangerous, at least on the outside. Layla has more strength than she gives herself credit for and Xavier has a protective streak that is clear when one sees how much he has done for his family. I loved when these two stopped hiding the feelings that were clearly building between them. Layla is exactly what Xavier needs: soft, yet strong enough to challenge him when needed.

This was a fitting wrap to the series, with cameos from many of the previous couples and all the pieces of Redemption Harbor safe for now. It is full of suspense and danger, heat and heart. The epilogue ties things up nicely and leaves a warm feeling in its wake for the characters and the series as a whole.

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
