I read an excerpt of Never Have I Ever by Joshilyn Jackson, and even though it was just a part of the book, it immediately pulled me in. The story starts off with what seems like a typical neighborhood book club, but things quickly take a strange turn when a mysterious woman named Roux shows up and starts playing a twisted version of “Never Have I Ever.”

From what I read, the tension builds fast, and there’s a strong feeling that something big—and dark—is coming. The main character, Amy, seems like she has a quiet life, but Roux clearly knows something about her past, and it’s enough to shake her completely. That added a layer of suspense that made me want to keep reading.

Even though it was just a small part of the story, the characters already felt real and complex. I liked how the author created an uneasy atmosphere so quickly and hinted at secrets without giving too much away.

Overall, the excerpt made a strong impression. It was intense, mysterious, and made me curious about what secrets are hiding beneath the surface. I’d definitely want to read the full book to see how the story unfolds.

I read this book when it first was published and I still remember it! I found this to be such a unique thriller that was interesting right up to the very end. This story is about a newcomer to a neighborhood book club and the shake up that she brings. She is someone that draws everyone in but with it, draws out secrets and stories. This was a fun read especially if you have ever been in a neighborhood book club :).

This was an interesting read by an author that I was not familiar with having never read their work before. I always enjoy a new to me author and I wasn’t disappointed.
I found the characters interesting and really had a depth to them with lots of details described for me to portray them in my mind and really get inside them.
The story line took me to a place I wasn’t expecting and kept me intrigued right until the end.
I would recommend to anyone interested in this genre and will be reading more.

It starts as a game at a book group one night and from there you are captivated. I could not put the book down!

Never Have I Ever EXTRACT is one of those books you will want to read over and over again. WOW!

This author is new to me, and I will definitely look into more of their books in the future, as I thoroughly enjoyed this one! Highly recommend.

This book was my very first by Joshilyn Jackson, but hopefully not the last! This book is about a stranger who comes into the main characters life and attempts to turn it upside down by revealing too much of Amy’s past during a game of “never have I ever”. Amy has to try to figure out a way to get rid of the woman and beat her at her own game before the woman ruins her life. This book Kept me on the edge of my seat for sure and I gave it 4 stars!!

I am instantly hooked on this book and can’t wait to read more, great sounding premise and intriguing characters. Bring on the rest!

I really didn't like it. Too boring and predictable. Yet another author that focuses on descriptive words too much and not enough on the darn story.

I think this sounds like a great novel, from what I can tell from the extract.

I didn't realise this was an extract when I started it so I was quite disappointed to come to the end of it instead of continuing on with the story. The extract definitely built suspense due to its flashback mode.

It's also quite attractive to book lovers and readers because of the involvement of a book club - it makes us feel more relatable and closer to home.

I apologise for the short review, but I find it difficult to review on extracts without reading the full novel and, as I've previously explained, I thought I'd applied for the full title - sorry!
