Thank you to Lake Union Publishing and Netgalley for an ARC of this novel for my honest opinion.

A twisty, turny story about a lot whole bunch of self absorbed people! If you like people who are just plain messed up this is the novel for you! Set on one street (Raven Lane) where the inhabitants are artistic, party goers, cheaters, liars, murderers and more! A quick, fairly entertaining read.

It started well but I really started to lose interest near the end of it. I couldn't connect with the characters. I didn't really enjoy all that much.

I highly recommend this, as I have done to friends of mine already. I expect great things from this author and I think she'll deliver.

Raven Lane for the Win
I really enjoyed Rapid Falls so was very excited to be approved for Raven Lane, I wasn't disappointed either! I find myself drawn to a good suspense novel and this is one of the better ones for this year. If you like slow-burn domestic suspense, where no one is quite what they seem, you'll love Raven Lane. I raced through this book in just a few days, because I was so curious to find out everyone's secrets! I loved the multi layers of the characters and the unorthodox ending is very unexpected. If you have money to spend on books I would recommend adding this to your list. Esme, her husband Benedict & their daughter Zoe live in a close-knit neighborhood where nothing stays private. Benedict's car hit their neighbor who was riding by on a bicycle as Benedict was backing out of the driveway. Torn's bicycle was twisted beneath Benedict's back tire. I will not say more about the story because I think you have to peel this one back like an onion without the tears this was great.

I devoured Raven Lane and was quite annoyed when it came to an end as I was so enthralled by the characters! You could have a sequel on Esme and all of them for sure. Raven Lane’s inhabitants have secrets, so many and no one is really able to trust anybody, so when an accident occurs you can guarantee it’s going to bring deception and more trouble.
You must read this book!

Interesting plot with awkward characters. I was disappointed that the book did not meet my expectations.

I’m sorry but I was disappointed with this book and it became a DNF. I tried so hard to like it. To me it just started dragging and I put it aside. I picked it back up several times but finally just gave up.

Thank you to #NetGalley, #RavenLane and Lake Union for this arc.

Raven Lane is a tense chilling domestic thriller that drew me right in from the first pages and kept me reading long into the night. This book takes place in a quiet neighborhood, with nice houses and artistic people. There is a lot of socializing going on amongst the neighbors. The perfect neighborhood until the day of the accident, when Esme’s amazing life comes crashing down around her. Everyone turns against her, then they start discovering deep dark secrets in each others lives that they didn’t know about before. I love the characters of Esme and Benedict. A great surprise ending. I highly recommend this one. I would like to thank Netgalley, the publisher and the author for providing me with an advance reader copy in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion of this book.

Esme & Benedict's relationship was awkward and weird and I found it painfully irritating how the story of Esme's past/secret was built up and dragged out especially when it turned out to be something far less than mind blowing. The way everything ended made it worth the read & I thought Torn's story within the story was great.

I found the plot extremely interesting. Great mystery/ who-done-it that kept me guessing and the ending floored me! Good solid writing and interesting quirky characters.
Strong 4 stars. Really enjoyed reading

This is not what I expected it was going to be. The book is listed as a mystery/thriller, and it is more a domestic drama. Although it was not what I expected, it was still a well-written story about deception, lust, and obsession.

You must be someone special to live on Raven Lane. The neighbours are close friends and, like with any close friends, lines are often crossed. Benedict is backing out of his driveway on his way to get more wine. He did not see his neighbour Torn passing behind the car on his bike; now Torn is dead. This is a dramatic event and, as in all good drama, the truth comes out. No one is innocent.

A twisty turny novel about lies, scandals, murder, and all of the betrayals and secrets that a neighborhood could hold.

I couldn’t get into this book at all unfortunately. I found it quite far fetched and the characters were all really unlikeable .

This book had the potential to be an amazing book but the story never really picked up and I found it a bit dull and the characters very one dimensional.

If you love secrets, lies, and drama.. this is your book. Raven Lane is about a culdesac of adults behaving badly.

The street is shook when a resident is arrested for a terrible crime. Everything friends and neighbors thought about each other is turned upside down!

As with most books on NetGalley, this book is a great read. Captivating and intriguing. Thematically beautiful. Gorgeous writing.

I’ve had this one sitting in my kindle for a few months, and I was SO excited to finally read it. From the second I read the plot I knew this was one story that I could really enjoy, but in the end it fell just a little too flat for me.

Esme and Benedict Werner have everything – a great marriage, a wonderful daughter, and an amazing house in the exclusive cul-du-sac of Raven Lane. After a horrible accident leaves one resident dead, the once close-knit community is torn apart after Esme’s husband, Benedict, is arrested for murder. With Benedict on trial, Esme’s friends and neighbours begin to turn, and secrets that were once hidden are revealed.

I thought this book had such potential, but in the end, I felt that the story was honestly a little boring. It took me quite a long time to get into it, and I felt that some of the scenes included were unnecessary. For most of the book, I kept asking myself when it would pick up, and when it finally did…it was the second to last chapter. This story just wasn’t able to grab my attention, and I felt that some of the elements that were meant to be surprising were actually quite predictable.

This one might be a fun read for some, but there are so many good thrillers out there right now, that I would hesitate to recommend it to others.

Thank you to Netgalley and Lake Union Publishing for an advance copy of Raven Lane in exchange for an honest review.

An interesting book to say the least. It takes place in a small cul-de-sac in an affluent neighborhood, with a close knit group of neighbors, carefully sorted out to include those with artistic backgrounds, writers, an actress, classical musicians and a successful real estate agent, who basically hand picks the buyers.
Close friendships are threatened, when a tragic accident invades the peaceful coexistence of the neighborhood, as secrets are revealed, relationships are not what they seem and the tragic accident evolves into a murder trial.
Amber Cowie is a skilled writer who develops interesting characters, and in this case, they are pretty unlikable people. I saw my initial perception of close knit neighborhood friends evolve into a lying scheming unlikable group. As friends turn against friends, we see that nothing is ever as it seems. An excellent follow up to Ms Cowies debut novel, Rapid Falls.
My thanks to #LakeUnionPublishing #AmberCowie and NetGalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

Esme, a former actress who now owns a restaurant, and her husband Benedict, a former model who now runs a modeling agency, live on the exclusive Raven Lane cul-de-sac with their teenage daughter Zoe.
The social clique with their neighbors includes lavish parties and gatherings.
One afternoon Benedict backs out of their road, distracted by Esme, and hits their neighbor Torn, a writer, riding his bicycle. Inexplicably, he is not wearing a helmet.
Torn ends up dying of his injuries.
What first appears to be a tragic accident begins to take on sinister implications as the secrets and lies of the insular community start to fracture relationships.
Though there wasn't much that was likable about these complex characters, this domestic drama fiction kept me very intrigued.
This was billed as a mystery/thriller which seemed to disappoint some readers.
I felt there was a considerable amount of psychological suspense as we learned the motivations behind the characters actions.
Excellent writing from the author captivated me, along with the many twists in the story.
Looking forward to reading Rapid Falls soon.
