Cracking great fun of a modern fairytale 'romance'. The story whooshed along at a very enjoyable pace with a lovely mix of humour, self-deprecation (that us Brits are 'oh so good at') and a sprinkling of naughtiness. There are some laugh-out-loud observations along the way and quite a bit of pregnancy intimacy and descriptions which may come in handy if you're lucky enough to fall into the 'horny as a male teenager' bracket during your own pregnancy! Lil is a very likeable protagonist with not too much self-flagellation or destructive behaviour that can get very annoying in romantic reads and her friends and family were pretty cool too. It is a total fairytale and Max may be too good to be true for some but the complete modern day Darcy for many others. And there's some quite profound observations on the uptight aristocracy along the way. I think I'll be reading more adventures from Sophia... |
This is a very easy to read book but it felt, at times, too crass with unnecessary words/descriptions. I struggled to feel any connections with the characters and whilst there were times I'd feel like I was rooting for the main character, the overall feeling just wasn't great. |

Who wouldn't love this book!? The characters make you feel you are part of their lives, you experience their highs and lows just as you would in your own lives with the hope that the ending would turn out well for them, after all a fairy tale always does doesn't it? Set in wonderful London this is a fabulous book, humorous, poignant and a true reflection of modern life. A great read - highly recommended. |

I am not a fan of rom coms, so I put off reading this book for a little while. I should not have done so, as I found this to be an engrossing and charming read. The narrator is a realistic and interesting character about whom I quickly came to care. A lovely book with delightful characters - highly recommended. |
Lil Bailey, a primary school teacher, thought she had found her soul mate, the one. After 8 years together, however, he dumped her for his new colleague. She meets Max Rushbrooke via OLD. He is an intrepid mountain climber who, after a great one night stand, subsequently ghosts her. She discovers that at 31 years of age she is pregnant and single. She decides to have the baby and finally tracks Max down only to discover his parents are Lord and Lady Rushbrooke and maybe he wasn’t ghosting her but merely uncontactable as he is leading a mountain climb! The rest of the novel follows Max and Lil navigating friendship, imminent parenthood and romance. A hilarious read. I especially enjoyed the interaction at the school with the rich parents and her TA. I wonder how how this book will age as it is right on the cusp referencing all the popular social media and dating apps but will this date the book and put future readers off? I received this novel from HQ via NetGalley in exchange for an honest reviewThe |

A light summer read about a millennial singleton who finds herself pregnant after a one night stand. With flashes of humour, ideal escapism to read on holiday. |
This book is hilarious and be warned - you won't want to stop reading! This will have you hooked from start to finish. |

Funny and sharp. I enjoyed The Plus One last year, and What Happens Next was a great sophomore outing. Sophia Money-Coutts has a great knack for the experiences and nuances of the (pretty hapless, really) millennial singleton. I would recommend this to my friends. |
Brilliant laugh out loud book Lil goes on a first date with Max and ends up back at his place, weeks later she finds out she is pregnant with his baby, but he is not answering his texts. Brilliant laugh out loud honest account of pregnancy and dating. |
I had read The Plus One from Sophie Money-Coutts and really enjoyed it and was so pleased that I was accepted to review her second book, What Happens Now? It following Lil’s life from breaking up for a long term relationship and having her first date with Max, him ghosting her and then finding out she is pregnant and the following 9 months. It had me laughing out loud a lot of the time throughout the book. I love Sophie Money-Coutts writing, both her books have made me laugh but also have the emotion and rawness that is very real for most people too. Absolutely brilliant! |

Loved this! Hilarious, sexy, funny, this could be the autobiography of a lot of people on the rebound, or a one night stand! You just need some tissues, a bottle of wine and a night 9n your own to sit and read this on one go. |

Such a hilarious light romcom that I thoroughly enjoyed. Nice break from my usual thrillers. P.S the sex scenes are hilarious! would recommend. |
Hilarious, from the opening few pages until the last, this is fabulous writing. Although I should say I was on the verge of tears of happiness towards the end too, but other than that I was laughing. This is an author that is not afraid to show what being a woman is really like, from the rather too graphic description of childbirth, to self pleasuring, which doesn't seem to appear that often in books.. and a whole lot in between.. ... its a no holds barred look at the 9 months from accidentally conceiving a child with a one night stand, and everything that may happen in between. It feels very honest, and quite eye opening as someone who hasn't been pregnant. I also loved the school that Lil was working at, I can really picture it so well, and the class she has is fabulous! All of Lil's friends and family are fabulous too, and it is really hard not to like Max despite of the initial ghosting. Even better than her first book, I absolutely adored this book and had a good few hours of pure enjoyment from it. Thank you to HQ and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily. |

Nothing to say about this except absolutely hilarious! You want fun and humour then look no further than this. |
Absolutely loved this book. It was extremely witty, the sex was saucy and it was such a feel good plot. The characters were so relatable and I really warmed to them, especially Lil.. This book is perfect to read on holiday. It flows really well and is so uplifting. There is a bit of steamy sex but not in a crude way. I can't wait for more by this author as she writes beautifully. There wasn't any page at all where I was bored. Thank you so much for making me laugh, smile and blush all in one go! Perfect in every way. |
Lil Baileys life gets turned upside down pretty quickly. She gets dumped by her boyfriend of 8 years and after a rebound first date with a handsome stranger she ends up pregnant ✨ Trying to do the right thing, lil tracks down her mysterious baby daddy (after he ghosts her) and it turns out he is the one and only mega famous eligible bachelor son of a lord and lady!! The book follows lil and max try to navigate friendship, dating, parenthood and everything in between! ✨ This story really made me laugh, it was sweet and funny and I became really fond of all the characters! I loved the relationship between lil and Max and their ‘will they won’t they’ romance! Such a fun book! ✨ https://www.instagram.com/theresalwaysanemma/ |
A surprisingly enjoyable read about what would be (to me at least!) a nightmare scenario - a one-night stand resulting in pregnancy. While a bit crude in places for my taste, it's a fun and easy read. I enjoyed the book more for its familiar London setting and various pot-shots at the upper classes than I did the characters, who I couldn't get 100 percent on board with. I also didn't think there was much chemistry between the hero and heroine. But it's a book that's clearly working hard not to be a cliche, and to show that families and love can come in all kinds of unexpected and different shaped packages, and for that, it's worthy of three stars. With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC. |
I really liked this book, great characters and a good storyline A thoroughly enjoyable read that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend |
I really enjoyed this. I love romance/womans' fiction, but something about this one just felt really honest and true - the characters and situations felt real, with real dilemas. I really liked the romance - again, it felt real, and wasn't instantly easy, or straightforward, so the ending felt earned. Would readily recommend. |
