Julia's career arrives to a cliffhanger after a very bold move. Looking for time and space she decides to return to her old town and visit her estranged sister and niece to sort some things out.
Ginny's life is going through a rough path. She's trying to keep her business afloat while struggling to develop a healthier relationship with her daughter.
Once reunited, the three of them work to improve as a team, and as a family as well.
I liked this book. The pace is good and the characters are very well developed. It's not usual for me to remain interested in stories like this, but this time it worked pretty well. I was sad to put the book down once it was finished.
I'd also like to add, it's a good book for the soul. And I will not give more additional information because it would be a spoiler alert.

A wonderful family drama about finding your place in the world. A very well written book that keeps you engaged from beginning to end. I enjoyed the rotating point of view between the two sisters, Julia and Ginny. It was a great way to get to know the characters better and helped the story flow from chapter to chapter. Overall, the story is emotional and relatable with engaging characters that were a pleasure to get to know. Both of their lives were at turning points and I enjoyed experiencing the way they both resolved their career issues and personal relationships. What It’s About: Julia is a news anchor for a morning show in New York and seemingly has it all: great job, fiance, and fame. But she's getting older and in her field getting older means losing your job, insecure and desperate to hold onto her job, Julia pushes too far on a story and it comes crashing down around her. Her reputation in shatters, she flies to Arizona to escape to her sister Ginny's house who she hasn't spoken to in three years. But Ginny has her own problems: trying to save a business that has become unprofitable and save any shred of a relationship she has with her daughter.

What I Loved: This book is really quite good. It's a story of a family that is torn apart and then because of circumstances is forced to come together and reconnect. The book is relatively light and the family dynamics and watching a family heal, brought joy to me during the pandemic. This was comfort reading in a similar style to Elizabeth Berg and it was great, sign me up for more from the author.

What I didn’t like so much: Things seemed to resolve relatively easy in the book but again the book was short and its up-lit so there's less conflict but at times, it felt like things magically cleaned up and that could be frustrating.

Who Should Read It: People who like books about family. People who like books about careers going wrong and people finding themselves. People who like up-lit.

General Summary: Two sisters who are at a sudden crisis in their careers find their way back to one another.

While I liked the premise of this book, it just wasn't for me. Character driven novels are ones I typically don't enjoy. I do feel that many readers will love this book,

I loved everything about this incredible book.. This book had me from the first few pages until the very end.. I would love if the author did a follow up to this book because that is how much I loved the characters.. Thank you Nicole Meier for writing an incredible story that covered every emotion..

I loved this book! It was family drama, it was redemtion, it was finding yourself and it was contemporary women's fiction at its best. Sometimes you just need a refreshing breath of second chances and a feel good story! It made me want to go visit my sister!

I love a good general fiction book and this one did not disappoint. The story captivated me from the beginning and I couldn’t put this one down. I connected with characters on my levels. This is would be a great Book Club read.

Thanks for the opportunity to read this book. I just cannot get into the writing style or the plot/story. I'm sure it will appeal to the right reader, but it is not for me, so I will not be reviewing it on social media.

This book was ok. I didnt find that much happened in the book so it was quite slow at times. I made note half way through that nothing had really happened and I didn't feel particularly fond of any of the characters. I did however plough on and the ending was quite as expected no big twist or exciting finale.

Although I didnt care much for the plot, or lack thereof, it was well written and I liked the authors writing style.

This book alternates perspectives between two sisters - Julia, a morning news anchor in New York, and Ginny, a chef running a secret supper club in her home in Arizona with a fraught relationship with her 21 year old daughter. When the book starts, they haven't spoken in 3 years, but when Julia makes a mistake at work, she decides to go to Arizona to hide out and to reconnect with her sister. Not a book for the ages - not the most original plot, characters never quite came fully to life in a way to make me really engage with them emotionally, and I can tell I won't remember this book a year from now. But yet it was a quick and cute enough read.

The Second Chance Supper Club was a wonderful novel about family relationships and second chances. I enjoyed how the sisters' relationship was portrayed in the story. Sisters Ginny and Julia haven't spoken in years. After Julia runs into trouble at her job, she takes off and shows up at Ginny's house. Ginny has been having her own work related difficulties and trouble with her daughter. The sisters seem to both have been holding a grudge and misunderstanding for something that happened years ago. Both women have to face changes in their lives as they also deal with their damaged relationship.

I do enjoy family dramas, and especially sister-centered! This was a good storyline - kept me hooked and I'm pretty sure that my teenage daughter is the same person in this book!
