This book was a disappointment for me. I never really connected with sisters Ginny and Julia. I enjoyed the premise of the 'underground supper club', but for me, so many more things were wrong with this book than were right. The characters all seemed extreme when it came to emotions - either incredibly angry or incredibly sad - no in-between. And why was this woman running a supper club that was making no profit from it's guests? I still don't understand why Ginny was so broke - even after settling her parent's estates? It was drilled into us that she was broke, again and again.

I am going to assume that plans are in place for a sequel as so many loose ends were left. What was the point of the Julia/Shane meet if they are not getting together by the end of the book? Bravo for Julia not seeking love after calling off her engagement to James, but Shane seemed such a moot point in the story, why include him at all?

This book is so easy to read and enjoy and would make a wonderful story to sit and relax with on a beach.
It tells the tale of two sisters filled with anger at each other and estranged for years.
An act of fate will have them meet again, still unreconciled.
The struggle to accept each other continues until ultimately family love and loyalty bring them together.
There are some lessons that we can all learn from this story.
1) Family love and loyalty is an undeniable fact which somehow always emerges.
2) Compromise is a wonderful middle ground rather than walking away, which solves nothing and leads to hard feelings.
Open minds and open hearts can really do so much to bring peace and harmony into our lives.
It was a pleasure to open this novel and read it!

"Two estranged sisters reunite in an emotional novel of family, forgiveness, lost hope, and new beginnings."
There was no emotion and I felt like Julia, Ginny and Olive all let me still not liking them very much. There was so much disconnect with the characters. There was no real exchanges between any of the character and they got over their conflicts so easily or pushed aside.

This is my first book by Nicole Meier, and I really enjoyed the story.
I love the cover design.
Two estranged sisters reunite in an emotional novel of family, forgiveness, lost hope, and new beginnings.
Two sisters seemed to be bonded forever, until tradegy struck and they went their separate ways to cope in the own way in grief.

Julia's care takes a nasty hit and her reputation is destroyed and she is left reeling and she turns to her sister Ginny to pull herself together. Ginny, on the other hand, doesn't want drama in her life, but Julia is her sister, so she feels obliged, as long as Julia pulls her weight.

Can they work together to heal their heart from past tradegies and become true sisters again?

Loved this book and definitely will be looking for Nicole's other books.

A heartwarming story about the love and bond between sisters. Having sisters myself I really connected with the story of these two sisters with very different personalities. My sister and I are complete opposites too and have had our moments but that deep heart bond between sisters always pulls us back. This book really explored the importance of family and how much we all need them and our support system. The idea of the supper club was so charming I'd love to do something similar myself. Nicole Meier really showcases the importance of maintaining important relationships in our life amd opening out heart and sharing our feelings with those who love us.

Thanks to NetGalley, Nicole Meier and the publishing company (Lake Union) for allowing me an advanced read of this book.

This is an amazing book of second chances, sisterhood, family and the power of forgiveness and growing up. These 2 grieving sisters learn what love and forgiveness is during the time when both of them are struggling each day. I thoroughly enjoyed the heartfelt moments during the book, and the way the sisters became a family unit and were able to start to work through their issues throughout the book

This was this first book that I had read by this author, and I will be looking for more from her to read.

The Second Chance Supper Club is a well-written book. It is an excellent story of two sisters and how life can change, but there is still no better feeling than that of coming home. I loved the intermingled stories of each sister with the life experiences that they had created for themselves during a few years of being estranged from each other. This book is an excellent reminder that your family will always be there, no matter what. And while some things ended up becoming predictable by the end, it was a good, heartwarming story.

Sisters and second chances. After their parents died in a tragedy, Ginnie moved back to Arizona and Julia, a broadcaster, stayed in NY. After years of not keeping in touch, their paths finally cross again when Julia lands on Ginnie's doorstep at a much needed time for both. I loved how the author used food and hospitality to bring them together again. I love novels about families reconnecting and I highly recommend taking a bite out of this one.

Julia is a host of a network morning show who feels that her job is in jeopardy. Taking a chance on a rumour she overheard regarding the mayor of New York, she confronts the mayor who is a guest on the show without first broaching the subject with her boss. Needing to flee the city as a result of her actions, she travels to Arizona to her estranged sister Ginny and niece Olive.

Ginny is the chef behind the secret supper club - a one table dining experience she operates out of her home. The supper club has done well and has built a good reputation, but has also proven to be a financial liability for Ginny and Olive. Olive has been working for Ginny as the server for the supper club - a responsibility she doesn't want. As a result, the relationship between Ginny and Olive is anything but ideal.

When the three women work and live together under one roof, each with their own problems , the reason behind their estrangement must be confronted in order for the family to move on.

I loved the discussion of the food served, and the ambience created, in the supper club. I appreciated the relationship work that needed to be done for this family to grow and thought that this was described with compassion by the author. The story is a little predictable, but perfect for the reader wishing an easy read. I would rate this book 4 stars out of 5.

Thank you to Netgalley and Lake Union Publishing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Every now and then I take a chance and request a book that I hope I'll enjoy. "The Second Chance Supper Club" was one of those books and I found it both entertaining and a good read. Two sisters, second chances, hope all bound together in a sweet story.

An easy and enjoyable light read about sisters, mothers and daughters and food. The author struck the right balance between the story and using food and place to enhance the flavor, if you will, rather than overwhelm it. This was a great break between some heavy reads.

The Second Chance Supper Club is a sweet and enjoyable story about sisters. While I have read many similar stories, I always enjoy stories in which the power of sisterhood is explored. And as a trained chef, I always enjoy stories that have a food/cooking element to them. It may not be a completely unique or new story but it was heartwarming, quick, and sweet.

A reminder that there are always two sides to every story - it just depends on your perspective. Enjoyed learning about the very different lives of two sisters, who became estranged after the death of their parents. Great summer read.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is a must a sweet story. Two sisters who have no idea how badly they need each other. Ginny is a chef that left the city life and relocated to Arizona. Julia is a n anchor or a morning show that is about to make a terrible mistake. These two women are stronger than they believe and more resilient than anything life throws at them. Very enjoyable.

So Ginny and Julia are sisters. They lost their parents and their close sibling relationship disappeared due to differing coping methods. But Julia returns to her sister and home state when life starts to unhinge.

This is not a complicated book. Neither does it have a twist that takes you by surprise. But it is a nice book. It is easy to read. It is a journey that we all go through at some time in our lives as we suddenly realise that we are not where we need to be. Julia is seen as cowardly for running away but actually she is brave. She follows her instinct and understands what is required at that period of her life despite the disapproval and disbelief of those closest to her.

Both sisters are in a similar predicament but Ginny has the added pressure of Olive. She loves her daughter but the pressure of helping to keep the supper club going is forcing Olive to view the prospect of life with her father through rose tinted glasses.

This is a good read, simple but enough to stir thoughts; what will I do when my parents die? Will I be the one to feel committed to deal with everything and resent my sibling despite probably not wanted them to have control? Probably but I hope that those around me don't let it happen. I hope that I don't let that happen.

One thing that made me really happy about this book was that not only did it feature a type 1 diabetic, but the story-line was medically accurate! Well done Nicole Meier - you deserve an award for that.

Good book, you'll find yourself reading it really quickly, would be great for a holiday feelgood read.
