First one for me from this author. Enjoyed the storyline and characters a lot! 4 STARS. I’ll be thinking about this one for awhile!

Nicely done thriller. Who is, or was, Danny? Gemma thought she knew but then he disappeared and bodies started to turn up. No spoilers from me.

"The Perfect Couple" is a delightful mix of romance and mystery. Kabler weaves an engaging plot with charming characters. The coastal setting adds a refreshing backdrop to the story. It's a perfect read for those who enjoy a balance of love and intrigue.
Not 100% my thing, but did enjoy reading it.

The Perfect Couple
by Jackie Kabler
4 Stars

An engaging tale with twists that pulls the reader in. It makes the reader question who said what, who is doing what, and who is telling the truth.

The perfect couple … or the perfect lie? A devoted wife, a missing husband, a serial killer and suspicious police.

This mystery keeps you guessing until the last chapters.

A really gripping read from the very start. Keeps you guessing, with so much tension. I couldn't stop reading! Looking forward to reading more from the author.

I wanted to like this book, the premise was interesting. Gemma’s husband Danny disappeared while she was on a business trip, and she’s horrified to find out that the victims of a local serial killer all look like Danny. The beginning of the book was strong but it went downhill from there. I’m not a “CSI” expert, but even I could tell that the way evidence was handled etc. was incorrect.
The book read very slowly for me, despite all of the twists and turns in the plot. 3 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I love the cover of this novel and the inside. "The Perfect Couple" is an suspenseful novel by Jackie Kabler. A page turner for sure.

This novel is just another cliche. You'll guess the plot twist at about 30% and honestly when they revealed it I just slipped the last 13% of the book because it was just so...standard.

There are better novels out there for things like this. I wouldn't recommend this book.

Have you ever ordered crab cakes at a restaurant that have way too much filler and not enough crab in them? Well this book was like that. There was some good meat in the story. In fact, the mystery aspect was incredibly intriguing. I wanted to know what happened to Danny and that kept me invested through most of the book! BUT...most of the story was filler. It had repetitive dialogue, meaningless tangents and not enough plot to keep it exciting and fresh. It felt like I was re-reading the same plot elements over and over again. The characters lacked color and the detective in particular was off-putting.

The ending was unusual in a not so good way. By 80% the mystery was resolved yet the story kept going and going. It felt like the author was trying to draw this book out to make it a novel but honestly would've been much better as a short.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book is told from two peoples perspectives in alternating chapters.
It is very addictive and compelling.
The authors writing is improving with each book that she writes.

An enjoyable and quick read, but not one I am convinced is going to stay with me. Gripping but a little over the top at times, and I struggled to connect to the characters.

Gemma and Danny have been together for a year. The relationship seems to be solid ... the couple is seemingly happy.

But then one night, Danny doesn't come home. When she reports him missing to the police, she's stunned to discover there is a serial killer running rampant ... and the photos of the victims all look just like Danny.

When the police investigate, what they find is more questions. Why is there no trace of him i their home? Why has no one except Gemma heard from Danny in weeks?

Is she telling them the truth .. or is there something more sinister in the works?

This started out with a genuinely interesting plot, although the writing seems a little choppy. I would like to say it got better the more I read ... but I can't. There's nothing unique or magnetic about the characters. The police were not credible at all. I found myself skipping pages to get to the end ... which was less than satisfying. Not the worst I've ever read ... but very disappointing.

Many thanks to the author / One More Chapter - Harper 360 / Netgalley for the digital copy of this psychological crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

This was okay but I felt like the author was trying to write to two different stories and as a result the central one suffered.

I love a book that grabs me right from the start ! All in for a wife frantically searching for her husband ! Where could he have gone ? What follows is a crime mystery that has the reader questioning everything and everyone ! One it is discovered that the missing husband bares incredible physical characteristics to another man ( murder victim) you can’t help but wonder if in fact that was the missing husband!
Not one to give up - the Mrs is convinced he is alive somewhere and as she pursues and desperately seeks leads - we along with her - discover that not is as it seems !
Great read that will have you guessing right up to the end ! Loved it !!!

I was hoping to get into this novel but I found the beginning too slow to continue reading. Unfortunately, it was a pass.
