Yet another stunning read from DK Hood! This book was amazing I really enjoyed it, I feel this series gets better with every book. Who would want to live in Black Rock Falls? It’s a Mecca for serial killers, but luckily Jenna and her team are around to solve the most hideous of crimes. Full of tension, darkness and danger this book was a real page turner that I found hard to put down. It was non stop action from start to finish so it kept me engaged right the way through the book. This book is an easy 5 stars it was really good and don’t hesitate to recommend it.

I was pleased to read a copy of this book to give an honest review on it.

This is a stand-alone novel although I had not read any of the previous books I felt it would have been better to have done so as there are so many characters involved within the story I feel I would have known who each person was and what relationships are involved within the book. I believe previous storylines were mentioned within this book that would have given a better insight to the characters.

The race is on as Kane and Alton try to catch a killer who is kidnapping and murdering young girls with the ultimate goal being to kill the Sherriff Jenna Alton. There are a number of suspects interviewed and introduced throughout the book and you are kept guessing until the end which was good. The tension ramped up a bit as each person was taken and as they were held captive. There are a lot of characters involved in the story not just Kane and Alton. This is where I would recommend probably reading the books in order but this is just how I like to read books and is only my opinion based on preference.

This is a good read has you gripped at times but occasionally I felt the story dropped a little or there was too much repeated within a couple of the conversations. Which is why I gave this 4 stars rather than 5. I would definitely recommend this book and have decided to start the series with the first book so that when number 7 in the series comes out I will know all the characters.

Whisper In The Night is the 6th book in the series featuring Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy Kane - but it really should 'feature' her entire support system (Shane Wolfe, Deputies Webber and Walters, Maggie, et al) as they all have crucial roles to play in every case.

This one hits close to home: young girls are being abducted from their homes - homes that are so well-protected by security that it should be impossible. Lindy swears that there has been someone in her bedroom for a number of nights, but her parents never find any evidence; then she's gone and no one can figure out how.

Thus begins a cat-and-mouse game between the perpetrator and Sheriff Alton - his ultimate prey.

Two more girls go missing and then are found dead; like Lindy, booby trapped. Each time, Jenna is contacted by text and with videos attached that up the ante.

Many suspects are brought in, interviewed, premises and cars searched... the whole nine yards; but no clues are found that point to any one of them. They are released for lack of evidence, but one or more has openly threatened Jenna.

When a fourth girl is grabbed, they go all-out, and Jenna is set up as bait to flush out a killer who claims to have murdered over twenty others. Will they catch him or will the Shadow Man elude even Alton and Kane?

As one of the characters reiterates at the end: "That's our town, beautiful one day and crazy as hell the next". And we wouldn't have it any other way.

This one had me from beginning to end. Recommended, but please read the other five in the series, too.

This is a race against time to save young teen girls who are being abducted, then brutally murdered in Black Falls. To make matters worse the killer makes it personal for Jenna by taunting her for not finding the victim before the clock runs out, Tick tock. Tick tock.
What makes this story so great, is the way the author builds up the intensity, with a large suspect pool to begin with. Jenna and Kane whittle it down to three, but finding out which one is anyone’s guess. Dodging bombs, bullets and a crafty lawyer only adds to the suspense. Well worth the read, another winner for D. K. Hood.

Another good read from DK Hood and as usual although the culprit is mentioned along with other people, I like that you're left guessing to the end. I'm usually not one that likes the leads to get romantically involved in this genre but the author is cleverly spinning the back story for this in a subtle way. I would like to thank the publishers and netgalley for letting me have the book to review and the opinions expressed are entirely my own views and are completely unbiased.

Another book in the fabulous Alton and Kane series.  This book was more suspenseful to me then the others and still had the wonderful built up tension that the other books have.

The story was a bit harder for me to get into as it deals with teens going missing.  I am not saying it wasn't great because it was but just the subject matter isn't as much to my liking as the other books in this series.

Jenna Alton is still a person you are so happy to see.  She has such a good personality and doesn't see things in the traditional black and white.

David Kane is the knight in shining armour.  He has this personality that makes him always running to the rescue just as the white knights would have.  It seems that Jenna is usually the one whom he is trying to protect not just from those who try and destroy the idyllic town of Black Rock Falls but even from herself.

In this book Shane Wolfe really comes more out and shows just what he really could be.  He isn't just the behind the scenes man that he comes off as but instead is the one who is the glue holding things together and can be as ruthless as Kane and just as strong and self sufficient as Alton.

I like seeing and getting to know Wolfes kids as well as they form as integral part for the story and show a more human side of things as well.  They make things seem normal when nothing is as it should be in small town USA. 

One thing I always detect is there is a lot of sexually charged tension between Kane and Alton.  It seems that Kane is fighting himself at each step and Jenna so much baggage that you just don't know what will happen.

The ending of the book wasn't as good as it could have been.  I was hoping for a lot more from the end game but it was happier and at least it had a full conclusion.  With the dark nature of this book I was waiting for Wolfe or Kane to go and exact revenge for what had happened.

All in told still a great book from one of the better series.  With each book you see so much growth in each of the characters you just are never sure what you should expect.

This book had me from the first page and I loved reading every word. I love the characters, both human and canine.

This is the first book by this author and for this series for me and it's a definite read and you can bet I'm going back and catching up on these characters.

If you love a good mystery/thriller you'll like this one. I did. I didn't want to sleep so I could finish the book.

I would have given this book five stars had I not guessed the bad guy early on, but reading to confirm was still worth every second.

Another hit in a great series! The pacing is spot on. The characters are ones we have come to love and are invested in. This case was one of the best of the series. There were so many viable suspects and it was written so believably that I definitely guessed wrong. The twists are many and perfect to the story line. I am never disappointed by this author and I am waiting impatiently for the next book.

This is Book 6 in this series. I will only visit Black Rock Falls in this Author's books! So many twists, turns and suspects as Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy Dave Kane track down the kdnapper of teenage girls who also has Jenna in his sights. I barely ate or slept while reading this book. I love the characters and this Author's imagination is scary good. Please hurry with Book 7. I have enjoyed every single one of these books and this latest is no exception. The pages just keep turning in this story set in the marvellous setting of Black Rock Falls. It follows the team as they hunt for the killer of teenage girls who also has Jenna in his sights. The pace never drops and the story is full of twists and turns and to me it is probably the darkest of the series so far (this is just my opinion though). D K Hood has a way of describing things in such detail that you feel as if you are breathing in that pine scented air and that you are working side by side with the team in their hunt for the suspect. This is another roller coaster of a ride, so strap yourself in and be prepared to be hurtled along at 100mph through the pages. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this book or the series.

I can't get enough of this series and whizzed through yet another blinding instalment!

Detectives Jenna Alton and David Kane of Black Rock Falls (Montana) have another murder to solve. This time someone is kidnapping teenage girls and openly taunting the detectives by contacting Jenna directly and stating the clock is ticking as the girls will be killed if they don't find them in time. It's a fast-paced story that kept me turning the pages eager for more.

There was a large cast of suspects, all naturally with the means but not necessarily motive, and it kept me guessing to the wire which is always a bonus.

I love the chemistry between Alton and Kane, a relationship is getting closer and closer to fruition and I am a sucker for some romance on the sideline. I also enjoy seeing a female lead with a male sidekick which isn't always the norm.

Bring on the next instalment, it'll be another thriller I'm sure!

I love this series. As soon as I received this it jumped straight to the top of my TBR list- I’ve even left a book half read to start it - something I never do! You know it’s a bad move then they mention the q word and suddenly all hell breaks loose in Black Rock Falls. Brilliant main plot which of course becomes personal as they start to target Jenna and the team. Subplot continues to develop nicely
Number 6 in the series which just gets better and better. Black Rock Falls has to be the most dangerous place in the world and Auntie Betty’s Cafe must have a turnover in millions!

This is book #6 in the Kane & Alton series. It can be read as a standalone, but for continuity and to understand the story better, I would recommend reading them in order.

I love this series of books, so I just knew that as soon as I received this latest one it would push its way up to the top of my To Be Read pile, even though there were many more books I needed to read first. I have read all of the previous books and have been hooked by the stories of Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy Dave Kane right from the very first page of Don’t Tell a Soul, the first book of the series. In this latest book, 15 year old Lindy Rosen has been having nightmares for weeks, thinking there is someone in her room. When she disappears one night, Sheriff Alton and her team are called in to look for the missing teenager. When Alton receives an anonymous text message telling her she has 24 hours to find Lindy, it becomes clear that she has been abducted. Can Sheriff Alton find out who has taken her in time to save her?

If there’s one place in the world where you don’t want to live its Black Rock Falls out in the wilderness of Montana. There are so many murders and serial killers that even with the best Sheriff team of Kane, Alton & Wolfe, I would still feel decidedly worried about living anywhere near here! Sheriff Jenna Alton is back on the case of the missing teenager, alongside her deputy Dave Kane. As in the other books, the partnership between these two characters is fantastic! Even though it’s a crime series, I keep my fingers crossed with every book that Jenna and Dave will have more than just a “working relationship” because they are just perfect together! Kane maintains his role as protector, security expert and general all-round tough guy in this story and whilst women’s rights and equality does go out of the window here, I certainly wouldn’t object to someone like Kane being my own personal bodyguard!!

The story jumps straight into the action in the first few pages and this doesn’t let up until you turn the last page. I think I’ve said this with almost every book in this series, but the descriptions of the location of Black Rock Falls blows me away every time, with the vast wilderness of where this little town is based being really hard to understand for someone who has very rarely left the UK! This storyline is a little more upsetting than previous books as it does predominantly feature the abduction and murder of schoolgirls, and I find this always makes me a little teary with the reactions of their parents, family and of course the Sheriff’s team.

There is absolutely nothing negative which I can say about this book though. I was genuinely disappointed to finish it, and I feel sorry for the next book I read as it will it be very difficult to live up to the high standards set by this one! The list of suspects throughout the book got bigger and bigger as the story moved on and it was written in such a way that I found it impossible to work out who the killer may be as, to be honest, it could have been any of them!! This book had me completely hooked and had me reading well into the early hours as I just couldn’t put it down! It was a fantastic crime book that was filled with so much action and suspense that I’m sure I could feel my heart beating just that little bit faster! This is definitely down on my list of one of the best series that I have read and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
