This book for me was a slow starter because in my head I couldn’t decide where the story was going....BUT keep reading I ended up not being able to put it down I know so much about addiction now and the consequences how life can change and assumptions are not always what we think they are if you want a gripping story with meaning then this is one to read loved it!!

Told from the dual perspectives of husband, Simon and wife, Daisy, we follow their decision (an ambivalent one in Daisy's case) to undergo IVF in order to conceive a sibling for their beloved daughter, Millie. However, a shock revelation during a consultation sends their marriage into a tailspin. This also sets Simon on a destructive downward spiral into full-blown alcoholism, which has devastating repercussions for the entire family. I enjoyed this novel as an easy read (despite its weighty subject matter), but at times I felt frustrated with the actions of some of the characters. The ending was a huge disappointment; I couldn't reconcile the resolution as being consistent with the thoughts and motivations of the characters throughout the rest of the novel.

Adele is such a superior writer, her novels are consistently good and this was no exception. I loved it, read it in 6 hours, a record for me! Engaging characters and twisty storyline, read it now!

This is another great book by Adele Parks. I enjoyed it so much I had it read in less than 24 hours. The main characters Daisy and Simon have always had a good marriage, apart from his liking for a drink. But the more he drinks, the more their marriage unravels. And secrets start to be unearthed! If you like a book where you don’t see the twists coming then this book is for you. I will definitely be in line to read the next novel by this author.

I have to say, although this book isn’t a crime book, which is my genre, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had more twists and turns than most crime novels, and whilst relationship books are not my cup of tea, it was excellent.

At the beginning Simon’s drinking really annoyed me, but as the story enfolds you can see why he does it, and in the end o had a great deal of sympathy for him. Daisy, is no saint and she has her own secrets too, but of course you tend to sympathise with her. Her friends are a tight bunch, and while a little ‘over the top’ they are true friends and stick together through thick and thin. There was only one character I disliked intensely and you will know when you read the book.

My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for the ARC.

Mild spoilers.

Absolutely brilliant - like all of Parks' other books it grabbed me from the beginning and didn't let go until the end. A storyline I have thought about many times since putting the book down. Clearly well researched regarding prison, this realism really added to the story as too often prison life just isn't 'right' within novels.

Definitely one to reread now I know all of the twists - always the mark of a good book.

Very, very highly recommended.

Daisy and Simon have been together for a long time and have a six year old daughter Millie. They struggled to have Millie, so it's no surprise they are struggling to have another child. Simon has always relied heavily on alcohol, and we quickly learn how their family is quite strained.
When Simon and Daisy go to a party one night the night doesn't end well. Everyone's lives are turned upside down and no-one can get any lower.
When you tell a lie another lie usually replaces the first lie, and as the story unfolds, we learn a lot of twists and turns which made this book a great read.

You know when you pick up an Adele Parks book you are in for a good read. Again this book does disappoint. Simon and Daisy to the outside world have everything. They are parents to Millie. However,Simon is desperate for another child but Daisy already feels their little family is complete. They struggled for a decade to conceive last time. She doesn’t want to go there again.
Following an appointment at the fertility clinic , Simons life begins to fall apart.
Adele Parks describes in this wonderfully written book how lies destroy the lives of Simon and Daisy and those around them.

This book is amazing and one of the best that I’ve read this year.
Adele Parks is one of my favourite authors and this is definitely a stand out of hers.
I was hooked from page 1 and couldn’t put it down.
I’d recommend this book to everyone and it’s worthy of a big fat 5 stars. Go and read it, I can guarantee you’ll love it as much as I did!

Amazing! I read this in 2 evenings. Told as a duel narrative from the two main characters, it keeps you gripped and intrigued all the way to the end. Definitely recommend to everyone!!
