If psychological thrillers à la family drama, give you a buzz, then you must read Lies Lies Lies, the latest novel by Adele Parks. Having read some of this fabulous author's earlier work I knew I was going to be in for a treat with this one and it was stunningly good.

Daisy and Simon have a contented marriage. After several years together, the arrival of longed-for daughter, Millie was the icing on the cake, making them a happy little family of three. Simon drinks a bit too much sometimes however, Daisy's used to it and she knows he's unwinding, relaxing and letting off steam. But then, one night at a party hosted by Daisy's friend Connie, things spiral disastrously out of control, changing things forever for their contented little family.

In Lies Lies Lies, bestseller Adele Parks explores the darkest corners of a relationship in meltdown in a mesmerising tale of marriage and secrets. The story opens with a prologue, outlining protagonist Simon's first experiences with alcohol when he was just a six-year-old, without the knowledge of both of his parents but with their careless attitudes. Written in alternating chapters, the reader is first introduced to protagonist Daisy. I felt immediately that she was an unreliable narrator though she clearly doted on Millie and appeared to be very caring. Adele Parks' characterisation was incredibly impressive, especially as I spent much of the book constantly speculating who would be one of the good guys or turn out to be full of menace. I particularly liked the portrayal of Connie who I was sure was going to turn into a she-devil. Each character had a part to play in the story and all of them came across as being both good and bad, which made this a very believable read. Everyone has different motives and priorities for their actions, thoughts or behaviour.

Another of my loves about this compulsive tale was the clever writing. I spent a lot of time pondering over how I would behave or the decisions I might make if I found myself in any of the situations faced by either Simon or Daisy, whether I was doing so proactively or re-actively. I think this was one of the author's intended aims.

Lies Lies Lies brought me no disappointments and was one solid domestic noir novel that captured my attention from the prologue to the final word. I cannot recommend this novel highly enough. If Adele Parks' next book is as good as this, I'll be in for another great triumph!

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from HQ via NetGalley at my request. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

Daisy and Simon, married with a young daughter appear to have a happy life but all is not as it seems. Sorry to say I found this book really tedious and it was a struggle to carry on reading it. Awful characters and awful ending - such a letdown I’m afraid. Very disappointing!

This is the first Adele Parks book I have read so wasn’t sure what to expect. Overall I enjoyed the story, although The book covers some difficult subjects .
I found the switching narrative between Daisy and Simon throughout difficult at the beginning, not how I usually like to read a book but I did get into the swing of it. Overall, I did enjoy the book and it certainly gets you thinking.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It had a different feel to the usual popular psychological thrillers and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I found myself rooting for Simon and was pleased with the ending, although I didn’t see the twist in the last paragraph coming.

Implausible but enjoyable

Enjoyable, light reading but it's not one to overthink. I really enjoyed it at the start - I love a book where everything is normal and relatable before it all goes wrong. The problem is how implausible the 'all' became, how underdeveloped the characters are and how uninteresting the twist at the end was. It's entertaining, it kept me amused during a weekend away and it wouldn't put me off reading any more of her books - Adele Parks is clearly a good writer. This book list seemed to go off the rails a little at times.

Thank you to NetGalley, Adele Parks and HQ publishers for letting me read this book.

This is a story told from two sides. Very twisty and turny. I was hooked on this one and just when I thought I knew everything something else was revealed that I was really not expecting but OH MY GOD I loved it.

Well done Adele on writing such a dark and twisted book. I thoroughly emjoyed reading this and would definitely recomend the book.

I’ve not read anything by the author before but I’m familiar with her. I had the impression she wrote chick lit or romance so clearly I’ve been misinformed. I enjoyed this book so much I definitely plan to read more of her work. I loved the title. I’m not sure why but I can picture someone with a sneering face chanting it. I raced through this book, desperate to read the next clue, feel confused and scratch my head again. This is the kind of thriller I love, full of twists and turns, ups and downs and misdirection. I thought about a dozen things were going on and was mostly wrong. Love it! I knew something sinister lurked beneath the cheesy happy façade of Simon and Daisy’s marriage. This book is jammed with secrets and I loved the way the author gradually reveals each one. I will read more by the author.

Daisy and Simon have on the surface a fairly happy marriage, and both dote on their daughter Millie. Simon drinks too much, but Daisy tries to convince herself that it's not a huge problem. It comes to a point when she has to face facts that it is in fact a major problem. As the story progresses it becomes clear there are secrets on both sides. There are a few twists in the story, which I did not guess, and it made for a bit of a psychological thriller. A good read.

This is one of those books that was popping up everywhere and I was really excited to read it. I've read several books by Adele Parks and I love domestic thrillers.

Unfortunately, this fell a little flat... It all started off brilliantly, I was gripped to the story, to the unravelling relationship and was intrigued about where it was going. I thought the storyline about Simon's descent into alcoholism was well written, but I couldn't stand the character of Daisy, and that, along with some horrendously unnecessary animal violence, was my biggest issue with the book. I did like the way in which the lies unfolded, and I do think it was well written, but I didn't find the story itself believable at all.

We all have our little secrets that we want to keep private but Lies Lies Lies tells a story of what happens when you and your partner are keeping major secrets from each other.

Daisy and Simon seem to be living a charmed life with their young daugther Millie, however their failure to conceive another baby leads to a shocking discovery that will ultimately unravel this family to a point of crescendo that will lead to dire consequences. Both Simon and Daisy have their own demons to battle. Simon, an alcoholic who cannot seem to escape the demon drink and his own insecurities and Daisy who is hiding a devastating secret from her past that will turn up world upside down if it were to be discovered.

As the book unravels it does seem a little slow at various stages and I'll be honest that at times I found it very slow and difficult to get into. It was only when Daisy's secret emerged that I thought 'wow'. Be warned there are some graphic scenes towards to the end that pretty much come out of nowhere.

All and all this is a steady read but it's just not my usual type of book.

So this book was OK I suppose. I will say the second half of the book was much better than the first. I found the first half just dragged on and on and was a bit wishy washy.

The book centres around a couple with problems which quite frankly is an understatement! Its quite hard to explain what the book is about without giving too much away but there is a terrible accident the consequences of which are devastating for the couple and their daughter.

I will say that I didn't guess the major twist which was good although one of the elements was a bit far fetched and I wasn't entirely sure would even be possible...but hey ho I suppose sometimes you have to suspend your disbelief!

This was an enjoyable read.. it started off a bit slow in the start then picked up throughout. The characters were quite interesting. And a few twists and turns towards the end. All in all it’s worth a read
Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to read this

The book follows Daisy and Simon and I really liked the way tha narrative switched between the 2 characters. I instantly liked Daisy but too me a while to warm to Simon. They are trying for another baby but Simon is an alcoholic and it's taking the toll on the family. A visit to the fertility clinic sets in motion a chain of events that change both of their lives and that of Millie their young daughter forever.

I liked a lot of this book it was faced paced enough to hold my interest but some parts I really didn't like.

What I really hated contains SPOILERS: I hated the fact that Daisy tried to impregnate herself with her best friend's husbands sperm without anyones knowledge at a party this just seemed so unrealistic to me not to mention risky!. I also didn't like how Simon changed so much he killed Daryll in cold blood on the day he was released from prison again to me seeking justice would have been more fitting. However all this happened in the final few chapters and up until this I loved the book but sadly the ending did ruin it for me and dropped my rating to 3 Stars.

I really enjoyed this book and loved the way the lies unravelled. Lies always come out in the end. How different might their lives had been had they told the truth. It was a very engaging read and left me shocked at the end.

My 4 star review of Lies Lies Lies by Adele Parks.
"Daisy and Simon's marriage is great, isn't it? After years together, the arrival of longed-for daughter Millie sealed everything in place. A happy little family of three. And so what if Simon drinks a bit too much sometimes - Daisy's used to it, she knows he's letting off steam. Until one night at a party things spiral horribly out of control. And that happy little family of three will never be the same again."

When we meet Simon he is a pathetic, embarrassing drunk, who has lost his job again and with it Daisy's respect. However, Daisy as well as being a loving wife and overprotective mother is hiding secrets of her own. As the story unfolds we get insights into their marriage and I was under the impression Daisy was weak to stay with Simon and for Millie's sake should end it. However, as the book continues following the accident on the night of the party, we are shown different sides to both characters and I enjoyed getting to know them when they were vulnerable.

Lies Lies Lies is a true indication of what secrets and lies. addiction and abuse can do to a family and their friends and although it made for uncomfortable reading at times, it was so well written that it gave a balanced view of life on the outside and behind closed doors. I changed my loyalties several times between Daisy and Simon, and so was pleased to be surprised later in the book when you find out that nothing is ever black and white or exactly as it first appeared.

Totally addictive reading and once you are into the book it was hard to put it down and stop, so I read it well into the night.

A true psychological thriller, which for me fell short of 5 stars because I felt the ending had one final twist too many, which was a bit unnecessary for me,but only my opinion.

Family life can be hard especially when we keep secrets. A tragic tale which goes full circle with many surprises.

This is a very slow book and not one of Adele Parks best ones, in my opinion , but still worth a read

Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was definitely a slow burner, and I didn't feel anything was really happening until about three quarters of the way through. The story then livened up, and I kept reading avidly to find out what was going to happen next. Although quite exciting for a while, it then took a strange turn. It was quite a surprise when the epilogue suddenly popped up - and wow what a convoluted piece of writing that was!
Some parts of the story line were a little more detailed than they needed to be, and some parts seemed a bit pointless and unnecessary.
I did enjoy this book, but I found it somewhat weird and unbelievable. It certainly isn't up the top on my favourites list though.
