She Will Rescue You was a fascinating read. The story revolves around two women from different walks of life who will do anything for what is most important to them.

One, a criminal forensic psychologist is surrounded by very disturbed individuals. The other a lonely working at a low-paying job. She is faced with a dilemma. Their paths will cross and this is where the story becomes very interesting. Unexpected ending! A must-read.

An interesting thriller with a few triggers people should be aware of for sure. I enjoyed it as a read it but I'm not sure it will stick in my mind in the future. Fun and interesting but slightly forgettable.

This book contains a few triggers that might not appeal to everybody, but it was a good solid read. This was a good read, and recommended.

She Will Rescue You is a strange kind of thriller that I found myself enjoying, and then was horrified that I found myself enjoying it. This is the kind of book that will send goosebumps up your spine, not for the way it’s written, but because it shows you the mirror and what your own moral reflexes are. I’ve never read a book like this before, I must say!

She Will Rescue You is the story of two women, each on the opposite sides of the law. Ellie Grant takes it upon herself to open animal rescue shelters after coming into a lot of money through a lottery ticket and on the side, serving justice to the people who indulge in animal cruelty. Dr. Mia Langley is a psychologist who is trying to apprehend criminals. But soon, the line between law and justice begins to become bolder and Mia is forced to be confronted with this reality that seems to be upending her life. But does Mia really consider this an ‘upending’? Or is she going to cross over to a point of no return? What will she decide?

The point where I thought my own moral lines were blurring were where Ellie inflicts injury, torture, and death on people who are cruel to animals with the help of a small team. While I know that animal cruelty is wrong on so many levels, I wondered if Ellie’s means were justified while thinking of how so many other people got away with crimes directed at animals. It made me realize that this whole story is about how far you are prepared to go for what you believe in. It will make you reevaluate your thoughts and beliefs as well.

The book is fast-paced and makes you want to keep turning the pages, pulling you in and keeping you hooked for its entire duration, right from the point where Ellie is just someone working in an animal shelter to the point where the book ends. The multi-dimensional characters in here make the story and the plot that much more engaging, and they allow you to put yourself in their shoes and think about what you would have done if you were them. Right from Ellie to Mia to Mark (who’s a bit of an a-hole at one point, will explain later) to Mick to Matt to Alex to Craig – everyone has their shades.

I do have a couple of issues with the book, though.

1. Ellie’s jump from being an accidental lottery winner to part-criminal is too abrupt. Maybe that’s the charm of the plot or whatever, but I found the abrupt change a little difficult to accept, although I was left with no choice by halfway.

2. I even felt Mia’s life was too easily glossed over and shoved into obscure background details for the convenience of the plot.

3. The end of the book was too abrupt as well. I think the author was going for an ambiguous ending to allow the reader to interpret it as they will. But somehow, sometimes, it’s just that the onus remains on the author’s shoulders to proffer details and not push it onto the reader.

4. MARK JOHNSON, OML. It seemed like he wanted the person he was investigating to be convicted of terrorism charges just because they had spurned him and found love elsewhere. I felt like smacking him in the face, but he combined these with intelligent arguments as well. So I was left fuming but also side-eyeing myself. Ugh, it’s annoying.

Otherwise, the book is really intriguing, fast-paced, and gripping, and will keep you on your toes for its entirety. The questions it raises are pertinent and will make for amazing philosophical and humanitarian discussions. Maybe that was the intent behind the writing of this book. If it was, it succeeded with a few bumps along the way.

I would recommend this if you’re looking for a crime thriller that will keep your attention at all times!

I really enjoyed reading the blurb of this book and thought it would be a book that I would really enjoy.

After reading the book, I was a little bit disappointed, but it didnt effect how much I enjoyed the book, if that makes sense! I expected more, but it was good.

A new author for me and not my usual kind of thriller. The lives of two women who have nothing in common are thrown together by circumstances. Usually when I read a thriller you have a goodie and a baddie but this book blurs the lines. The more you read the more you think, what is really right or wrong?. A surprising ending and definitely not what I was expecting. Almost five stars and highly recommended. Will be searching for more of this authors work.

This was a typical thriller with a few twists and turns. It was good, but not great. Some parts felt unfinished and thrown together. I'm glad I read it, but won't remember it later.

I really like new authors and so was looking forward to reading this one by Chris. I was not disappointed as it had me gripped from the start.
The book is different from the normal Joffe books as it is not a straight forward thriller, and is a very unique book.
The book follows two women from different backgrounds, one is a wealthy forensic scientist who likes the finer things in life, and the other is a poorer woman who works in an animal shelter.
When Ellie, the young poorer woman suddenly finds a lottery ticket her life changes and she now has the means to change the lives of the animals she looks after by turning vigilante.
The great thing about this book is that it becomes harder to work out the lines between right and wrong as the people being hurt have tormented and hurt animals, so do they deserve what they get or should they be allowed to get away with it.
Overall this is a brilliant book, which had me hooked throughout as it is such a different book to normal, and the characters are so well written that you have to feel for them all as the story progresses.

The lives of two women who seem to have nothing in common, find themselves thrown together by circumstances. The central theme of "rescue" animals lends a unique back story to this thriller. As the women work toward a surprising ending, their stories are both interesting and compelling enough to keep the pages turning. A good book by an author I had not read before.

I found this book...odd. Like legitimately, I don't even know what to say about it. Twists and turns galore, yes. Unexpected content, also a yes. But the ending was really abrupt and out of nowhere. This book definitely needed an epilogue. All in all 3 stars.

the concept is interesting but it also felt like i had read this book before, now i haven't but this was what i felt. I read it reluctantly, only finishing it because i was committed to reviewing it but it was slow going for me. perhaps i am spoiled by some five star books i have read recently.

An unusual story with regards to animal protection. Dr. Mia Langley, a forensic psychologist, is working on cases that have some similarities. Ellie "wins" the lottery and uses the cash to bolster animal rights in her own way. Makes you wonder how far people are willing to go to protect animals. I have 3 cats and would not go to such extreme measures as Ellie...

An interesting entanglement between a forensic psychologist and an avid animal rights activist.

She Will Rescue You is a unique premise and an overall good plot but this novel reads more like an early draft than a finished book. Had it not been a NetGalley book, I probably would have given up on this one.

None of the characters really seem plausible and some of the revenge antics are over the top. I can usually suspend disbelief quite easily, but found it extremely difficult to do so with this one.

I think the premise of women on opposing sides of the law is good, as is the rescue/revenge premise and the animal-loving messages, even the lottery winning is ok, but feel that the story needs more depth, especially the events after the two women meet, since the story starts spiraling and unraveling quickly after that.

I appreciate the opportunity to read this book. I think this author has good potential, while this novel fell flat for me, I think that future works will continue to improve.

A debut novel which certainly made an impact on me (I loved it!) and which has a very unique feel about it. The story revolves around two women, both sad and lonely in their own ways. Ellie Grant lives in Wales on her own since the recent death of her mother apart from three dogs, three cats and a Macaw, all rescue cases. She works long and tiring hours for minimum wage at an animal shelter, driven by a hatred for those who ill treat animals. What she lacks in looks is more than made up for by her huge and caring heart. Poles apart from Ellie is beautiful Doctor Mia Langley, working for the National Crime Agency as a criminal forensic psychologist and living in London, with a love of the finer things in life like expensive cars and designer clothes. By an accident of fate, Ellie ends up with a winning lottery ticket. She knows she should give it back but the rightful owner is such a nasty person and she knows what a difference she can make with it, so she faces a real dilemma. Mia finds a link between two horrific murders which sets her on the path to seeking out a dark and brutal killer. Although they don't know it yet, both women are on a collision course for the same man. This book is well written by an author who clearly knows her stuff, both within the police and also concerning animals, dogs and horses in particular. The story is beautifully told and demonstrates how much normally straight lines can become very blurred in certain circumstances. As an animal person myself I could empathise very much with a lot of this story, and I think it will leave many readers questioning which side is right at times when retribution is called for. Great ending too, but you’ll have to discover that for yourself! I can't wait to read more by this author very soon.

I started out really enjoying this book and hooked as to what was going to happen. About 1/3 way through when they started kidnapping animals and threatening people, i lost interest. I'm a huge animal person so I applaud the character wanting to help them, but i ended up skimming the test.

Vigilantes are not usually my style of character or type of story. This was a well written story that does have vigilante as a theme but the characters are so well written and the plot is well thought out that I was able to think somewhat differently as I read this story. This is a slight twist in this story that I liked..

Then there are the murders where the dead bodies are left with a turkey feather on the body. This is a morally ambiguous narrative about two women who find them unexpectedly connected., about principles, a drive to put a stop to animal abuse and ethics. This was a good crime read, intense and dark, with interesting plotlines. Thanks to Joffe Books for an ARC.
