I enjoyed this book immensely. Sarah has had rotten luck with boyfriends. She yearns for Finn, the doctor she works for, to notice her. And she loves performing with the Greenley Players, where she's playing the lead in The Tempest. She's having a hard time getting into the character. There is a lot more to Sarah than meets the eye. She is estranged from her dad. He was in prison when her dear mother died, and she can't forgive him for that.

Nate, an actor who is in hiding, ends up in Greenley-on-Sea. He agrees to help the cast with their production to take his mind off his worries. He works one-on-one with Sarah to help her understand the character, as well as figure out why she's struggling with it.

Will Finn finally make a move on Sarah, or will Sarah begin to have feelings for Nate?

I won't go into a lot of detail, but this was a charming book. I must thank NetGalley and the Publisher for a copy of the book in return for an honest review.

A great range of characters and a fun read.

This has a wonderful cast of characters who are all involved with the summer production of The Tempest. You can just imagine all the egos rubbing along or not, throughout the story! They are so well drawn that you can imagine sitting amongst them- maybe helping out with the prompts in the middle of the play. It's a lovely setting for a book and a theatre on the seafront sounds so enticing.

Sarah is looking for love- but has had some disastrous dates. She's also nursing a troubled heart. There are some love interests in the book- who is going to be Mr Right?!

I loved the character in hiding - and the way he was looking to escape the confines of the house he was staying in, without upsetting his hosts.

I will read more in this series.

Summer Season on the Seafront is the second book in the series, but could be read as a standalone novel. I have read and enjoyed the first book in the series - The Little Theatre on the Seafront which I also really enjoyed and would recommend.

A story about friendships, theatre productions and a little romance too. A cast of well rounded, likeable characters which I enjoyed and could relate to. I loved being back in Greenley-on-Sea - a perfect seaside location.

A perfect easy light hearted beach read or for a sunny afternoon in the garden.

Summer Season on the Seafront is the second book in the Seafront series by Katie Ginger and the first one I have read! It is a rom-com and while I tend to shy away from them, mainly because of the cheesiness of them, I had none of those issues with this book, even when Sarah played crazy! I completely enjoyed the author's take on the crazy world of online dating! The whole scene in the Chinese buffet is hysterical!

Overall the book was very enjoyable, well written and made me laugh my fool head off and had me missing all the summer shows I used to watch at The Cliffs Pavillion with my Mum and sister before I moved to America!

Although this book is part of a series it works beautifully as a stand alone and after reading this one, the first part, The Little Theatre on the Seafront has been bumped up on my TBR list.

The first things that catches your eye is the incredibly cute cover which just lures you in. The opening pages are hilarious and begin with poor Sarah on a blind date with an unappetising meal and an even more unappetising man. From this point I was hooked and couldn’t resit racing through Sarah”s story to find out if she would meet the man of her dreams…. as if I’m going to give the game away.

Set around a theatre group, which I loved as I have recently joined one and I have made some lovely new friends there, each character in this novel brings an abundance of personally and quirkiness to the novel making them more than just background characters.

The main protagonist Sarah and her friend Lottie are simply delightful and mischievous together but when Sarah’s absent father turns up, her character is given an added depth that takes her from just being a romantic interest. Nate Hardy is a refreshingly sensitive and loyal man and despite being famous and labelled as the nations ‘bad man’ he’s endearing and sweet. Add an ensemble cast of other players and it’s difficult not to become part of the Greenley Players and their antics.

This is such a lovely light read and is perfect for the summer.

This book has a fantastic story line, excellent characters and is just wonderful. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and I enjoyed it immensely.

Absolutely delightful, immensely entertaining and enjoyable. Many laugh out loud moments, clever characters each unique, and a good plot that continually moves the story forward.

I loved loved this one so much the town the beach the everything about it I can not wait to read more!!!! Please everyone go read this one! It was a beachy read just how I like

First of all that title! Try to say it five times fast! Kind of fun and a little complicated, just like this book. Sarah’s life is not going quite as planned, especially when it comes to love. She seems to find herself on bad date after bad date. Thank goodness for her good friend Lottie and the local theater Group. Nate is a well-known actor but with fame comes infamy. When his jilted lover confronts him during a theater performance it is big news, especially because Nate is married. But things aren’t always as they seem his wife has had many indiscretions of her own and the couple was planning on announcing their separation, the problem is nobody knows that side of the story. Sarah and Nate’s paths cross when Nate fleas to the small village of Greenley to wait out the scandal. What follows is not quite what you’re thinking. There is no Insta love between these two. These are too complex people with complicated lives who have lots of things to figure out. The romance in the story is subtle, slow, and secondary to the story. This really is more of a story about quirky characters, a theater performance, and a sprinkling of love.

Sarah was a likable character and I instantly sympathize with her. Especially after her disastrous date at the Chinese food restaurant! SOS indeed! I also really liked Nate from the beginning. I really would not want to be famous in this day and social media age. I mean I wouldn’t mind the money in the perks but I wouldn’t want everyone all up in my business all the time. All the secondary characters were wonderful as well. Loved Lottie and Sid and time permitting I’d love to go back and read the first book about them. Mrs. Anderson was great for some laughs as were many other of the theater members. A fun well told story perfect for poolside or fireside.

There's certainly 'no business like showbusiness' when the Greenley Players are in full swing. It was a joy to be back with the gang in all their thespian glory and witness the wild and wonderful antics leading up to this year's performance of The Tempest.

Someone somewhere said that 'the course of true love never did run smooth' and these wise words are still a true fit for today's lessons in love. The spotlight in this story is on Sarah, and boy is her life going through the mill at the moment. From wayward father's, smouldering doctors down to heart throb famous actors, her road to love and happiness is taking unexpected left turns, causing chaos, confusion and hurt along the way.

Sarah is a sweetheart and a dream of a character who I loved getting to know better. Her life has been touched by plenty of heartache and as a new fan I was cheering her on from the sidelines to get that much needed happy ending. As for the rest of the gang......well it felt like grabbing a coffee and a catch up with old friends. My favourite am-dram players were in fine voice and I loved every minute of my time being back in Greenley-on-Sea.

This is one of my favourite series out there at the moment and this latest installment did not disappoint. Love, laughter and nerves a plenty were bursting off the pages.....the Greenley Players have certainly done it again - another perfect performance. Bring on book three!

My Review:

This was a fun and witty rom-com with a few heart-squeezing issues and a side order of stubbornness. I enjoyed Ms. Ginger’s crisp writing style, it was brightly entertaining and easy to follow yet pleasantly engaging and wryly amusing. Her characters were endearingly quirky and humorously detailed. This was my first exposure to the author, who was quickly added to my new favorites list. And it has been a while since I’ve had an addition to my Brit Word List and Ms. Ginger has provided me with dustman – which is a garbage collector, and squiffy – which is slightly drunk (and oh, so, fun to say).

This book was a perfect summer read! My first book by this author, and you know it’s going to be a good book when it had me laughing by the end of the first chapter. With the story focussing on Sarah and her love life (or lack of it), the book opens with Sarah and Dean’s blind date at the local Chinese buffet restaurant. Apart from making me very hungry, Sarah’s predicament made me realise how lucky I am to be well out of the dating game! By the end of Sarah’s date, I was well and truly hooked and even though it seemed to be part of a series, I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything!

This book also brought back the actors and actresses of the local amateur dramatic group of the small village where Sarah lives and of which Sarah has joined to keep herself busy. Here we, and Sarah, meet Nate, an actor who is leaving London somewhat under a cloud. I didn’t initially like Nate’s character but as the story moves on, you begin to understand more of his character and he becomes much more likeable. It’s obvious that Sarah and Nate will become romantically involved, but it’s not your typical romantic read as it doesn’t just focus on their relationship as a couple but also on their relationship within the theatre. The story revolving around the theatre group and their next production is just as captivating as Sarah’s love-life, and I found myself really getting involved in this part of the story!

This was a completely different book to what I was expecting, and I really enjoyed it! The storyline was great, the characters were all so likeable and easily relatable and it had both funny and tender moments within in. I would definitely recommend, and I’m now off to read the first book, The Little Theatre on the Seafront to complete the story!

A different story, not what I expected but interesting and enjoyable. Took a few pages to get into it but once in it took off and was a very good novel. I would recommend you read this and enjoy it.

Perfect chick lit! I loved the premise and the characters were well developed! I recommend this for anyone looking for a light and fun read!

I loved this book. Speaking as a member of our local amateur dramatic society, Katie Ginger has got this book spot on. If you add in a dishy doctor and a TV star on the run with some over the top characters this book is engaging from the start. The seaside setting is so realistic I think I want to live there. An easy to read book that is just perfect for a little bit of summer indulgence.
