Mystery, murder, and mayhem.
I didn’t want to put this book down. I read it in one day and wish it was longer.
Definitely an author I want to read more of.

A great story, The Girl in the Woods was intriguing and grabbed me from the very beginning holding on to my interest until the very end.

The story is about a murder that occurred fifteen years ago. Someone went to jail for the crime, but it was the wrong person. The killer is out there and when a devasting deathbed confession comes to light this killer will do anything to keep the truth from being revealed.

I found the premise interesting but I struggled to finish this book because I didn't love the writing style. I also did not like the characters which made the book harder to get through. However, despite the plot holes, it was a fun read once I got used to how irritating Blair was, it's not the best book - but it is fun.

I am MIND BLOWN by this book.. Two consecutive nights that I really should have been sleeping, I spent it reading this book and though I am very much sleep deprived.. I have no regrets.

Guys this book was just something else. After the prologue that left me in shambles wondering just who could have murdered a little girl & dump her in the woods all those years ago, I was more than ready to figure out who had committed such a heinous crime. When our main character Blair comes back to town after making a life for herself (quite successfully I might add) we hear that she hasn’t been back in this town that took her best friend all those years ago. & the reason she came back? Her older sister is dying of the same deadly cancer that took their mother so many years ago. Upon sitting at her sister’s bed side she learns that her sister had lied at the trial that convicted a man for the murder of Molly (the little girl) so many years ago by saying that she was not his alibi meaning that this man had spent over a decade in prison for a crime that he did not commit leaving Blair to right the wrongs of her sister.

Now, finding clues and leads to a murder that happened 15 years ago is no easy feat. As one dead end leads to her hiring a private investigator, things start to pick up momentum as she notices something that just keeps niggling at her mind leading her to take the investigation into her own hands despite the danger. Never in a million years will you even think that the person truly responsible for Molly’s death could have been a cold blooded psychopath. I for one was left reeling at the knowledge and I just know that you all will too.

It's great to be in a position to recommend much more diverse books to our young people at school. Building the senior school library as a place where students actually come and find books that they want to read as opposed to books that teachers think they ought to read is an important responsibility and one we take really seriously.
Books like this are such a positive move as they will appeal to a broader set of readers than we are usually attracting. Dealing with modern issues in a clear and captivating way with a strong narrative voice and characters that the students can relate to is critical as we move forwards. This book is both an intelligent and compelling read that will hold even the most reluctant reader's attention and keep them turning the pages long into the night. It keeps the reader on their toes and ensures that you give it your full attention too. I found myself thinking about its characters and events even when I wasn't reading it and looking forward to snatching kore time with it and I hope that my students feel the same. An accessible, gripping and engrossing read that I can't recommend highly enough. Will absolutely be buying a copy for the library and heartily recommending it to both staff and students.

Blair Butler has avoided her childhood home for fifteen years - ever since she left following the brutal murder of her best friend Molly. But now her sister is dying, and Blair must return. What she isn't expecting is her sister's deathbed confession. Is the wrong person in prison for Molly's murder? And if so - who was really responsible?

I enjoyed how this story gradually unravelled, and although I did guess at the twist(s) it didn't take away from my enjoyment. The characters were well written and the details revealed in a way that held the reader's interest. I will definitely look out for more books from this author in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher, who granted me a free ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

One of my long standing authors who often delivers a good satisfying thriller. And......she did it again.

I listened to this on audio as I’ve been way behind with my reading plans. This year and last year was my resolution to read more busting my backlist books and this is one of them.

A great thriller, it has a great plot, great characters and told so well.

If someone close to you told you they know a person who is in prison is innocent and they’d been serving their sentence for years what would you do?

What surrounds this statement is told so well you will get lost within the pages from start to finish.

I received a digital arc of this from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I wasn't sure what to expect as it has mixed reviews and I've not read anything by this author previously. It took me a while to get into it but then I didn't want to put it down. I wouldn't say that the person who killed Molly was a shock to me but other aspects of the story were definitely unexpected.

This book sounded like it would be good and i had such high hopes for it. Even the cover caught my attention.
I usually love anything this author writes but this one failed to gain and keep my attention. The characters were not fully devolved and i could not really connect with any of them. Some parts of the book were a little repetitive. I figured out who the killer was very, very early in the story. So many things in this book were just so unbelievable. All in all this was an ok read.

This was a superb psychological suspense thriller. It was a book that I knew I was going to love right from the first chapter. This book kept me guessing the whole way through. At times I thought I had it all sussed out only to discover I was completely on the wrong track, 5 stars 🌟

This was the first book I have read from this author. It was a very quick read-I read it in 1 day-but it fell a bit flat for me. This storyline has been overdone in recent years and the book was very predictable. I actually figured out who the killer was before I reached the 5th chapter. I’m not sure I would ever pick up another book by this author.

Thank you NetGalley and Black Thorn for the advanced copy of this book.
This was for me, then it wasn't, then it was, I couldn't decide.
I didn't get on with the style of writing, as is It constantly flipped between younger style writing and serious writing. I couldn't keep up with the store and got confused at times. To be honest this wasn't for me but it will be for some. .

The premisewas great, and the pace was to my personal liking! The dialogue wasn’t the greatest, sometimes it was too formal. But overall enjoyable read

Blair was raised in a pretty shitty environment. After her mother's death she was forced to live with her racist, Nazi loving Uncle, so when she left town and restarted her life fresh she nevee thought she'd return...until her sisters cancer brings her back home to say goodbye. Blair ends up staying far longer than anticipated when on her sisters deathbed she reveals a secret she'd kept her whole life - which involves the murder of Blair's childhood best friend.

This book started quick and had me glued in from the first chapter. It did seem to drag at times but not in an unpleasant way. The characters were well fleshed out and the story was strong. It was a little easy to figure out the 'who' for me but I didn't guess the 'why'. Also felt like a quick read - hard to put down.

It touches on some pretty taboo topics but all of it felt very relevant in today's world. I'd recommend. I enjoyed it!

Blair's best friend is murdered one raining night, body dumped in the woods. The wrong man is put away for it. Blair's has a death bed confession. This was a nail biter for sure. The untangling of the mystery of what happened to Molly will keep you on edge.
