Personnel is a different kind of book, with smaller stories you don't realize are connected. I liked the sci-fi aspects of each character but wanted more at the end. Hopefully there is more coming that will help tie things together! |

I was intrigued by the description of the book and really looked forward to reading it, but was disappointed. I couldn’t develop empathy for the characters and the writer’s style made it difficult to maintain interest. The promise in the description didn’t materialize in the book. I was given a free copy of this book and am voluntarily posting my review. |

Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this this for an honest review. Unfortunately I disliked the style of writing in this book and it didn’t live up to my expectations after reading the description . |
Personnel provides a fictional conspiracy take with a sci-fi slant on some of our more recent tragedies: the attack on the World Trade Center, the Tsunami, the death of Princess Diana and more. I'm not a big fan of conspiracy, espionage, or sci-fi so when I review this book I take that into consideration and rate it more as if I was. Like any conspiracy, these chapters are not simple and I wouldn't call this an easy read. It does read like science fiction and I was glad that there is no real conspiracy theory pushing here on these real events. With Personnel you get a thriller, sci-fi, monster, superhero, disaster, chases, good guys, bad guys corporate evil. Maybe even a tip of the hat to our old friend the Mothman (if I'm correct). #Personnel #TylerHansen #Netgalley |

Timeline, smimline. This book will bring you from some of the world's greatest semi recent tragic events and throw you for a loop. By the end, you meet a set of people you get to know just enough of to start to care throughout this tale. By the end, you are freaking out about it all being a matrix, yet making sure you have ample tin foil within reach. A fun story with interesting choices of plots. Great characters that fit in seamlessly. My only bemoanings are, I want pure set origins of all of them, and I want more! |
DNF. It didn't cut it for me, and the writing is so choppy that it made it even more difficult to get involved with what was going on. |
This one didn't work for me. It read more like a movie (think 80's b-movie or SyFy original). There is a lot going on, but it moves at such a pace I never felt any tension build. It seems to go from overexplained science dialogue into action/chase scenes in an instant. This book is a big, big world and as a reader if a book decides to bite off more than it can chew, I have to review it honestly. That being said, Hanson obviously has some talent and is passionate as an author and I would love to read some short stories or more straightforward works. |
I am fascinating about true events, theories about what could have happened to make these events happen. And if you are anything like me then you will find this book really fascinating. It is a collection of five case studies that explore what happened in tragic events that shock the whole world. If the theories of what people think happened could be real and will open your eyes to things not being exactly as people want you to believe. |
