It's well written, the characters are fleshed out and the plot is engrossing.

This novel has all the pieces necessary for a good story: the drama, twists, turns, and the power of female relationships. Unfortunately for me, I wasn’t impressed with the writing style, finding it a bit basic, choppy, like a harlequin or airport airport impulse grab.. A great style book for fans of Jill Mansell.

This was a fascinating story about the younger generation meeting the older generation, and vice versa. The dialogue and storyline are very good, and I enjoyed reading about two such different women from two such different eras, and how they connected and helped each other through a difficult time. From time to time, it felt a bit too bogged down with info about the past… But that is my only complaint!

A wonderful read. I was captivated From the first chapter. It's very well written as the author adeptly captures the younger generation as well as the older generation. Two women who have recently had the rug pulled out from underneath them, find themselves sharing a house and a lot more. Lydia and Erin bond and form a true friendship that endures. I loved the pluckiness of both characters and the realizations both discover through their friendship. The book has a great theme and is a great read.

They meet when Erin becomes a tenant in Lydia's home and soon become good friends despite their age gap. They are both starting over in their lives, and helping each other move on.

A agreat read, at times emotional.

Absolutely one of the best books I have read this year!! Loved it from the first page till the last word!! It flows very quickly and you will not want to put it down.

A story about the power of friendship and love. Two woman born decades apart form an unlikely friendship and help each other through some of the hardest times of their lives.
I’m going to be honest this was a bit of a slow read for me. However, the story was so beautiful and I actually enjoyed the book even though it was a little slow at some parts. I think I just need to realize not all books are going to be super fast pace and I just need to enjoy the story development.
There was some great unexpected twists in this book that left me with my jaw dropped and once again the ending was pure perfection! Another light read to add to your summer TBR List.

I found myself reading this in one sitting and while I feel like some of it could have been cut out and still been a wonderful book, it’s an excellent story about two women from different generations sharing their lives and learning from each other. The author could do with some better descriptions of laughter though as “roaring with laughter” was used so many times I actually went back and counted (10).

This is a delightful book that I felt engaged with from the start. The introductions to both Erin and Lydia gave me a good background to both and laid down the foundation of their stories well. Erin is a very pleasant and kind girl whereas Lydia is somewhat more forthright but empathetic, they are both suffering a loss and are a very unusual duo however the situation they find themselves in as lodger and home owner is very believable. The chemistry between the two women works really well and you can feel the growing friendship and respect between them, not to mention the frustration and occasional spat that make up most strong relationships! This is a gentle story, well written and very enjoyable.

I so loved this book and the friendship and love that Erin and Lydia have for each other and the fact that one is old and one is young. This was a easy quick read and I loved it so much I love books where the older generation has a friendship with the younger generation it was good

I thought the emphasis on friendship, rather than romance, was refreshing (and a friendship between different generations too). I liked the different take on getting older - that life isn't over. Loved the antiques element, plus the story of the hidden letter. Throw in betrayal, Alzheimers, death, selfish parents, a trip to Paris, not forgetting a new love, what's not to like? Erin and Lydia were both likeable characters.

When seventy-six-year-old Lydia's husband passes away, she discovers her husband had hidden things from her. Her son convinces her she will need to take in a lodger in order to help ends meet. She meets twenty-six-year-old Erin, whose fiance and best friend betrayed her. Erin moves in and for reduced rent helps Lydia and does the driving. As the two of them are cleaning out the attic they discover a letter that Lydia's husband Harry had hidden from her all the years they were married. The friendship the two of them create is amazing. Erin teaches Lydia how to use a smartphone and social media. Lydia decides she wants to learn to drive so she takes driving lessons.
We watch them pick themselves up and grow even though there is such an age difference, they learn so much from each other. The book is their journey with the ups and downs, the successes and failures, and a bond that is so special. The book is so well written that you can feel their excitement of learning something new, the anger of learning of lies, the sadness of betrayals, and the love that keeps them going on. We meet their old friends and new friends and this isn't a fairy tale it is life, with all that life throws at you and how you can make it through.

A beautiful love story transversing all kinds of love from friendship love, maternal love and romantic love. The whole novel quakes with sadness, heartbreak and betrayal and yet is bound together by an unshakeable force of love, support and promise of the future. It is a truly magical read and I highly recommend it. What an emotional rollercoaster, do not forget the tissues!
