Angst, suspense, sex, lies, danger. THIS BOOK HAS IT ALL!!! I don’t even know where to begin, Kristy took this book to a whole other level, I’m blown away. What a jaw dropper, I don’t know what I was expecting but this book was everything I didn’t know I wanted. The storyline, the characters, the writing, all of it phenomenal. THE PLOT! GENIUS! Strong females, arrogant males, trouble all around. I was hooked from the beginning. It’s addicting and full of surprising twists. And that CLIFFHANGER OMGAHHHHH! I’m dying for the next book and this ones not even out yet. Don’t let the cliffy stop you. READ THIS BOOK! I promise you will be glad you did. WHAT A FREAKING FANTASTIC BOOK. |
I have loved K. Bromberg since I read her first book!! I did love Resist, however I wish someone would have told me that this book is a major cliffhanger! I typically hold off reading books with cliffhangers until more of the series is out, so I can remember the story! Resist is the kind of book you want to stay up late and binge read! I can't wait to read the 2nd book in the story! |
Apart from the whole cliffhanger thing, I really loved this book. Wonderful writing, a gripping story, and two main characters that grapple at your heart. Divorce attorney, Ryder Lockhart (I’ve got a thing for sexy, macho male lead names, and this one takes the biscuit), he’s all man, and the fact that he only represents men in divorces and not women let’s you know he’s also a bit of an a-hole. There’s a history there yada yada. Deciding on an escort service to manage his unlove life, he accidentally comes across Vaughn, who owns the escort agency, and never ever meets clients, only to intervene on occasion if they get handsy with her girls. She’s in it for the money, and the money alone. Herein develops a tumultuous relationship that had me addicted and in awe of the author. Sadly I’ve got to wait to see how their possible relationship will turn out, I have a couple of theories, all of which I’m keeping to myself. Book two can’t come fast enough. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review. |
Addictive. Sexy. Sweet. Thrilling. And I'm not just describing Ryker. This book was FANTASTIC. I'm ready for the next in the series. I need it like....yesterday. Heart poundingly good. I'm big fan of K Brombergs work. She did such a wonderful job writing this one. Its mysterious, sexy, funny. Loved it so much! |

Where do I begin? Well let me just start by saying, anything Kristy writes I love. RESIST is amazing! Meet Vaughn Sanders & Ryker Lockhart Two very strong willed characters , both very jaded about love and happily ever afters, each for their own reasons. Vaughn is the boss of an escort dating service and Ryker is a divorce attorney, The two meet although not by any conventional means. Sparks fly and so begins a story that leaves one deeply devastated and the other playing a ruthless game of cunning and destruction unbeknownst to her. There are a lot of twists to the plot in this story that will leave the reader aching to resist (ha pun intended) putting this book down for even one second. The characters and the plot are captivating , which is pretty much how I felt reading the driven series, Readers will be tickled with some guest appearances, too. I can’t wait for the second book to come out I’m dying to know what happens to these characters and if a certain someone will get his comeuppance! I truly hope the floor gets wiped with his a@*s!!! Snap this baby up! You will love RESIST! |
I'm finding it difficult to decide how I feel about this book. At first I didn't like Vaughn. I couldn't wrap my head around why she chose the profession she did. But, somehow, Bromberg drew me in and made me care about the characters. I'm also not a fan of books that leave you hanging for the end of the story. Despite these 'cons' the writing, the relationship between Vaughn and Lucy, and my need to know the outcome of the story have me hooked. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #Resist #NetGalley |
Sweet Jesus! That ending! I don’t think I can wait very long for the next part! Ok so it took me a little while to get invested but then everything just had me hooked. I actually feel a little bit heart broken myself after that. Really liked the characters. Would love to see more of archer and a whole lot less of Carter. Bring in part 2! Like now please! |

As a big fan of the Driven series, I'm excited to read this new series from Bromberg. Vaughn is trying to run an escort service while working as a waitress in a club to earn enough money to pay her debts. She has medical bills left over from helping her sister with rehab before her sister's suicide. She is also trying to become the guardian of her young niece with Down's Syndrome, Lucy. Ryker knew that his date with a last minute escort is unusual but he didn't realize it would change his life. The long time divorce lawyer became jaded representing many wealthy, cheating husbands. After meeting Lucy with Vaughn one day, the couple realizes they can't stop thinking about each other. Bromberg excels at slow build and potent chemistry. Vaughn and Lucy are especially vivid and it's fun to see Ryker's character arc as he falls in love. Readers will be looking forward to the next one in this series! It was also fun to see a cameo from Driven's Colton! |
“Appreciate the Unexpected” - I didn’t expect that this would end as a CLIFFHANGER! I couldn’t put this book down! Well written. Great read - hold on to your seats. Ryker and Vaughn are HOT, irresistible couple displaying vulnerabilities in the quest for power. A story empowerment, of memories and fulfillment of needs until it just isn’t what it seems or is it? A toying of ones emotions - well crafted, skillfully done Bromberg. You don’t really know or do you ? You question your beliefs while relying on your instincts. |
⇨ R E V I E W ⇦ First off, K. Bromberg is a huge favorite author of mine. Been reading her books and actually have read every single one, so far. Vaughn is a BADASS woman!! From the very first pages, you’ll see why. I instantly fell in love with her character. After taking care of a little problem, Vaughn finds herself in the company of the handsome Ryker Lockhart. Interesting choice of career for Vee (can’t say, I don’t do spoilers) but a brave one at that. But Vee has a goal, a plan…soon she will be able to hop that fence over to the green side. Vaughn is a woman who wants to do the right thing, knows how to hustle to get though life but is still a woman… with feelings even if she hides behind that facade. Her childhood was beautiful, until she lost her mother, it all spiraled from there with well i can’t say but a lot. Be prepared to be surprised by Vaughn on every turn. Now Ryker, is a peculiar creature. A successful high rise divorce attorney that not only has the money but power. Big names, big clients and always men only clients. His issues run deep and something that may not have been as dramatically as Vee’s but not less influential. I have to say that he is the ultimate-bookhusband because your pants will be swooned off. As arrogant and blunt he is, he is still alpha, in control yet reasons with Vaughn over the power. Power struggle? Absolutely! But when Vaughn let’s her guard down even for a second, gosh it is beautiful. Secret’s are revealed, a sweet moment of unicorn scenes (will melt your heart) and danger. If you’ve read Bromberg before you know her style, so this is exactly what I would want from one of her books & more. I can’t really say much to be honest, it would be a huge shame to spoiler alert this because it’s worth a full focus read!! You’ll be hooked, I couldn’t stop and kept reading faster then slowing down because I didn’t want it to end. The ending, I kind of want to say I was expecting it but I did not expect how it happened. Shame on your Ryker!! I’m going to say this once and then deny it if anyone else asks me again but….I think i loved this book even more than DRIVEN *goes to hide under desk so lightning doesn’t strike me* phew, nothing yet! That said, this is huge and I am very much looking forward to BOOK #2! p.s. Now, don’t get me wrong I know there were cover reveals of TWO books (hell I even took a photo just for it) but my stupid-head didn’t comprehend until i realized this is a CLIFFHANGER! *sigh* Want to see quotes from the book and TEASERS I MADE -> https://tgtrnbookreviews.wordpress.com/2019/06/24/r-e-v-i-e-w-%E2%9E%A0-resist-by-k-bromberg/ TOP 2019 MUST READ! This is book one in the Wicked Ways series. This is Ryker and Vaughn book , Ryker is a high powered attorney he’s also Rich, handsome, and definitely intriguing! Vaughn Definitely made a big mistake in meeting Riker, he thinks his blackmail will bend her to his will but he is oh so wrong! Vaughn May have done a few sketchy things in her life that weren’t exactly legal but she has her own reasons for all that! She’s not about to let some high-powered divorce attorney have her body and rule her heart not to mention ruin everything that she’s carefully built! This book was an OK read I usually like this authors books and this one like I said it was OK it just was not my favorite I just couldn’t get into it for some reason I’m sure there’s a lot of people that will like it because it was a decent read it just didn’t keep my attention. Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me! |
Well K. Bromberg has done it again. Shes pulled me into a book where I feel everything just as much as the characters. Driven has always been my favorite series ever by any author. None has ever compared but I didnt how much this story had sucked me in until I reached the end and had a wtf moment. I am so sad its over because now I have a long wait for book two. This series has the potential to be just as big as Driven was. I loved both Ryker and Vaughn. Ryker was the spoiled, rich guy who we all love to hate but definitely want. Vaughn hasnt had the easiest life but she is determined to make her life matter by fighting for what matters most to her. So Ryker was unexpected. The emotions I felt with every being. The ending I should have seen it coming because it is only book one but I still was caught off guard. And I cant wait to see how book two picks up all the broken pieces of my heart. |
I love K. Bromberg's books and this one did not disappoint! Holy cliffhanger though! I'm going to need to read the next book ASAP to find out what Ryker was thinking in the end with Vaughn. Vaughn is a madam and Ryker is a client that ends up to be what Vaughn might think is the "one" until the lies get crossed and their need to protect certain things in their lives come front and center. |
When I finished Resist I could only sit there and take in what I had just read. Words are inadequate for Vaughn and Ryker’s story. Ryker is a divorce attorney, well known for representing only men and winning. Two different people, attracted to each other and yet shouldn’t be together. Vaughn is a Madam, yet she is not in every sense of the word. I would call her profession “a means to an end”. And Vee will fight until the end to get what she really wants. There is hope and there is lostness within the pages of this story, and just when you think all is going to be okay, there it is, the bombshell and you are left hanging on edge. We will hang on tight for the next book... |
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review** Resist is the perfect name for this book! That is exactly what Vaughn should have done the moment she met Ryker, but of course she didn't and that is what gave us the goodness that is book one in the Wicked Ways series! Vaughn is a madam and owns Wicked Ways, but what you see with her isn't the full story. She actually lives a double life. While she runs the escort business, she's also a waitress at a high end club. What most don't know are the reasons she's going to the lengths she is to be working both of these jobs. She smart, but she might have met her match in Ryker because he seems to be the one that might pull the thread that unravels everything. Ryker is a divorce attorney and he's used to winning. It's the only thing he knows. He's rich, he's powerful, he doesn't take no for an answer and he's sexy as all get out. He doesn't believe in love or relationships, which isn't surprising with his job, but there is something about Vaughn when he meets her that he can't quite get over. These two characters are both strong and stubborn. When Ryker offers Vaughn something that he knows she won't be able to refuse, it turns everything on its head and makes it very, very interesting! Ryker seems to know how Vaughn ticks, which is something most have not figured out, so that unnerves her, but his walls are also being worn down by this intriguing woman. This was a very enjoyable and while, like most I'm sure, I was wishing Kristy hadn't left it where she did, but I'll be here waiting for the next book to release to see how all of this plays out! |

OOOOOhhhhh, do I hate cliffhangers! Let me repeat – I hate cliffhangers! And this book ends in a doozy! But I love K. Bromberg! Would I have read it if I knew it ended in a cliffhanger? Probably, because K. Bromberg writes great story lines and this is one of the best. Resist has two central characters; Vaughn aka Vee who is a Madam running an escort business so that she can pay down her debt as quickly as possible in order to adopt her special needs niece, Lucy, and Ryder, a powerful divorce attorney whose clientele are only men never women. Once Vaughn and Ryder meet, sparks fly and the dance begins. They both are falling for each other despite never being truly in love before. They circle each other. They fight each other. But they always circle back to each other. Until that ending! Who knew that it was coming? Who even saw it coming? Like I said in the beginning, I hate cliffhangers! But, I will definitely be buying the second half of this duet to find out what happens to these two! You can bet on that! 5 Stars all the way! I received an ARC for an honest review of this book. |
Gahhhhh! I’m so mad right now. I could punch a certain divorce attorney right in the balls. But the reason I’m so mad is because I felt for that man instantly and his broody ways. Addicting as hell! I kept flipping the pages like a mad woman and this book completely pissed me off at the end. But in the best of ways. It made me feel. I related to it. I fell for the characters and enjoyed their banter. I loved it. Can’t wait for the next book to come out because I know some major groveling better be happening!!!! And I mean MAJORRRR! Bromberg nailed this one! |
Title: Resist (wicked ways book one) Author: K. Bromberg Genre: Romance Publication Date: 30th July 2019 Goodreads rating: 4.59 My rating: 5 stars Warnings: themes of suicide and sexual abuse flashbacks, drug abuse. I can not begin to put into words how blown away I was by this book. But I'm going to at least try! I was given this book in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts are my own. This was my first ever K. Bromberg book, and oh my god, what an introduction to her books it was! I need more! Waiting until September for book two is going to be difficult. This story centres around a woman called Vaughn who basically lives two lives. As Vaughn she is a bar maid and auntie battling to gain custody of her niece after Vaughns older sister commits suicide. She is also known by another name though, as Vee she is a Madam, running an escort business in order to try to pay off the debts she incurred trying to help her older sister before her death. She tries ridiculously hard to keep both lives completely separate, even going as far as to don a wig and totally different style of wardrobe in order to become "vee." Protecting her identity. But when Vee takes on a new client herself she has no idea what she's letting herself in for. Sex has never been a big deal to her, she would just switch off and do what was expected of her, no emotions, no feelings to complicate things. But her new client, divorce lawyer Ryker makes her feel things she has NEVER felt. He awakens something within her that she's never thought possible, but he also accidentally triggers some horrendous memories from her past, things she didn't realise she'd subconsciously buried in her mind until meeting him. She tries her best to resist Ryker, and he does the same, but their attraction is too strong and it terrifies them both. especially when the two lives Vaughn fights so hard to keep separate begin to collide. This book is one hell of an emotional rollercoaster, and does contain some very distressing flashback scenes that are heartbreaking to read, but the romance between Vaughn and Ryker is seriously intense, honestly? It's really f*cking hot. It's also really frustrating at times, I actually found myself shouting out loud at the book whilst reading it! I just kinda wanted to bang Vaughn and Rykers heads together because they're both so stubborn! I won't even get started on the cliffhanger... because holy crap! What a way to end a book! It's definitely one way to leave a reader desperate to read the next book that's for sure! I need an explanation for what the hell happened, like now! But I'll have to suffer and wait until book two is released in September I suppose. I've already got it preordered! I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the driven series, or fans of Jodi Ellen Malpas, E. L. James, etc. You will LOVE this book! |
