I love K. Bromberg's books and this one did not disappoint! Holy cliffhanger though! I'm going to need to read the next book ASAP to find out what Ryker was thinking in the end with Vaughn. Vaughn is a madam and Ryker is a client that ends up to be what Vaughn might think is the "one" until the lies get crossed and their need to protect certain things in their lives come front and center.

When I finished Resist I could only sit there and take in what I had just read. Words are inadequate for Vaughn and Ryker’s story. Ryker is a divorce attorney, well known for representing only men and winning. Two different people, attracted to each other and yet shouldn’t be together. Vaughn is a Madam, yet she is not in every sense of the word. I would call her profession “a means to an end”. And Vee will fight until the end to get what she really wants. There is hope and there is lostness within the pages of this story, and just when you think all is going to be okay, there it is, the bombshell and you are left hanging on edge. We will hang on tight for the next book...

Resist is the perfect name for this book! That is exactly what Vaughn should have done the moment she met Ryker, but of course she didn't and that is what gave us the goodness that is book one in the Wicked Ways series!

Vaughn is a madam and owns Wicked Ways, but what you see with her isn't the full story. She actually lives a double life. While she runs the escort business, she's also a waitress at a high end club. What most don't know are the reasons she's going to the lengths she is to be working both of these jobs. She smart, but she might have met her match in Ryker because he seems to be the one that might pull the thread that unravels everything.

Ryker is a divorce attorney and he's used to winning. It's the only thing he knows. He's rich, he's powerful, he doesn't take no for an answer and he's sexy as all get out. He doesn't believe in love or relationships, which isn't surprising with his job, but there is something about Vaughn when he meets her that he can't quite get over.

These two characters are both strong and stubborn. When Ryker offers Vaughn something that he knows she won't be able to refuse, it turns everything on its head and makes it very, very interesting! Ryker seems to know how Vaughn ticks, which is something most have not figured out, so that unnerves her, but his walls are also being worn down by this intriguing woman.

This was a very enjoyable and while, like most I'm sure, I was wishing Kristy hadn't left it where she did, but I'll be here waiting for the next book to release to see how all of this plays out!

Bromberg is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next book.

OOOOOhhhhh, do I hate cliffhangers! Let me repeat – I hate cliffhangers! And this book ends in a doozy!

But I love K. Bromberg! Would I have read it if I knew it ended in a cliffhanger? Probably, because K. Bromberg writes great story lines and this is one of the best.

Resist has two central characters; Vaughn aka Vee who is a Madam running an escort business so that she can pay down her debt as quickly as possible in order to adopt her special needs niece, Lucy, and Ryder, a powerful divorce attorney whose clientele are only men never women. Once Vaughn and Ryder meet, sparks fly and the dance begins. They both are falling for each other despite never being truly in love before. They circle each other. They fight each other. But they always circle back to each other.

Until that ending! Who knew that it was coming? Who even saw it coming? Like I said in the beginning, I hate cliffhangers! But, I will definitely be buying the second half of this duet to find out what happens to these two! You can bet on that! 5 Stars all the way!

I received an ARC for an honest review of this book.

Gahhhhh! I’m so mad right now. I could punch a certain divorce attorney right in the balls. But the reason I’m so mad is because I felt for that man instantly and his broody ways. Addicting as hell! I kept flipping the pages like a mad woman and this book completely pissed me off at the end. But in the best of ways. It made me feel. I related to it. I fell for the characters and enjoyed their banter. I loved it. Can’t wait for the next book to come out because I know some major groveling better be happening!!!! And I mean MAJORRRR! Bromberg nailed this one!

I love K Bromberg's Driven series and this was another fabulous read. Can't wait for the next instalment.

I will start by saying that this book is the first in a duet and that it finishes on a BIG CLIFFHANGER.

The heroine, Vaughn, is the owner of an escort service. And to be honest, I normally wouldn’t read that type of book, but I am so glad that I did! Vaughn is a badass and the chemistry and push and pull banter between her and the hero, Ryker, builds a lot of tension. The story is also told from both perspectives which I’m a huge fan of.

I would recommend not reading a lot of details about this book before you read it. There are so many details about Vaughn’s past and the reasons that she does what she does to uncover. I would definitely recommend this book, especially to fans of K. Bromberg’s other series.

Wow! This book is reminiscent of the Driven series,my favorite by this author. I wasn’t sure of what to make of Vaughn at first but as the book unfolded I grew to love her. I especially love her relationship with her niece. Ryker and Vaughn seem to be two kindred spirits who don’t realize it yet! I loved all the push and pull in this relationship! But of course this ended on a cliffhanger and you are going to have to wait for the next one to see what happens. Argh, I will be waiting, waiting, waiting!

Three nope-this book is not for me even one of my favorite authors wrote it, impossible to connect or empathize with characters stars!

As soon as I saw K. Bromberg’s name on the list, I dive in because I loved “Driven” series and read her several books in one sit. So I was really hopeful and made a mistake not to read the blurb or anything about book before I jump and meet the ground. It is time for me to learn from my mistakes.

So the heroine is a Madam ( Nope, not madam secretary just the madam), owner of escort service then at night she turned into a waitress. Yes, as soon as I wrote this, it didn’t make sense to me, too.
And hero is client of her escort company. She’s forced to entertain him. And they let all the power plays begin!
Too much lies, too much secrets, too much games! But I wanted to see more love, more passion, more emotion!

I know the author is gifted enough to write smartly developed romance novels with complex characters from different backgrounds. The chemistry between the couple was good but when you read romance you don’t want to get confused with too much mind games, you wanna read something also feeds your soul and grabs your heart.

Maybe I was not in a mood of reading something like this or as I felt before there was something missing in this book. I’m not so sure enough to read the second book even the cliffhanger was tempting!
I still love her writing and i hope to read other and better books of her sooner than later.

****READER BEWARE! MAJOR CLIFFHANGER!!!****

I've read many of K. Bromberg's novels. Some I've loved and some not as much. But I like her writing enough to always give a new novel of her's a try. Resist lands firmly in the loved category! Resist follows the story of Vaughn. She's works as a waitress in an upscale night club but she also has a secret. She runs an exclusive escort service. Yep, she's a madam! And that's how she crosses paths with high-powered divorce attorney, Ryker Lockhart. Things start off pretty rocky. Vaughn is a strong-willed person and she definitely meets her match in the extremely arrogant Ryker. But both characters have redeeming qualities. Vaughn's escort service is a means to an end. She's trying to adopt her niece, Lucy. She's determined to make that happened and she's just won't allow herself to be distracted by Ryker. Ryker is an arrogant, demanding, alpha male. He likes things his way. We do get to see some of Ryker's softer side, especially in his interactions with Lucy. All of this makes for one intense romance. I was really enjoying this book. I got to the end before I realized and then BAM! CLIFFHANGER! I wasn't ready. Although, cliffhangers aren't my favorite, I will definitely be reading the next installment in the Wicked Ways Series. I need to know how this ends! Cliffhanger aside, I think this is one of K. Bromberg's better novels. I especially enjoyed the Colton Donovan cameo! Can't wait for Reveal.

Here is a cards on the table moment. If you said to me, here’s a book about a rich alpha and a madam I wouldn’t have wanted to read it. Not my kind of trope. But throw in the magic words, here’s a book by Kristy Bromberg and I would grab it with both hands regardless of trope.

Vaughn and Ryker have an electric reaction to each other. It’s so hot it’s combustible. Vaughn is a rich complex character with lots of side issues that create far more than an alpha/madam trope.

There is a sweetness in the form of the beautiful, unicorn loving Lucy. I adored her. There’s villains to be discovered that made me booooo and hissssss! Methinks there is a few misunderstandings too but the big reveal is yet to come.

“Most people look for love in the sunrise, when they don’t realise for them it can be found in the sunset.”

Book two can’t come soon enough.

OMG!! I loved this book but I knew I would since the author is one of my favorites! I have read all of her books and loved every one of them. I loved the characters and the story. As usual K. Bromberg has me biting my nails and anxiously waiting for the 2nd book to this series. If you get a chance to read this do you won't be disappointed. Thanks for another great story K. Bromberg.

Sweet HOLY Titfire.
I don't know whether to rave about this book or scream, pull my hair and throw a tantrum. To say that this book sunk its claws into me would be an understatement. From the beginning, I was intrigued. Granted, the Name Vaughn threw me off because it took me a second to realize that Vaughn was a woman because I have only known men with that name. Yet, her resilience and strength as she defended another woman had my inner feminist roaring. I might as well have been wearing a pink hat and participating in a Woman's March.

From how Vaughn handled herself and how that first encounter ended I knew that it was going to be foreshadowing the direction that this book was going to take. Even knowing that that encounter would eventually be the pinnacle of the story still did not have me prepared to the fact that it would mean it would lead to a cliffhanger. AND BY cliffhanger, I MEAN CLIFFHANGER. I wasn't prepared. All of the years that I pursued my Literature degree and deconstructing stories should have prepared me. It was as if I wasted 50k in my education because it was all for naught. Not really, I am just being temperamental and pouty because I am not sure I can wait to find out how this story is going to resolve itself.

I need answers. I need to know what is going on with Ryker. No seriously, I need to know what is going on with Ryker. If there was a zombie apocalypse, I would sacrifice my children if it meant that I had the answers. They are in their 20's they have lived a life so it is only fair that they take one for their dear old Mom. Just kidding...no I am not. #sorrynotsorry The connection between Ryker and Vaughn was hot. Like a Phoenix sidewalk in August level of hot. It wasn't just about the steam but their whole connection and time together.

The author was exceptional at creating characters that were amazing, backstory and all and filling in the blanks just as my mind was starting to ask the questions of how certain things fell into place the way that they did. I Liked that. This book is definitely going into my best of 2019. I just advise everyone to be prepared to have their hearts ripped out at the cliffhanger. I know it will be worth the wait for the conclusion but sweet lord it still stings.

A Twisted Tale of Sex, Lies and Secrets

I liked the varying storylines within the book. This is book one so there is a cliffhanger at the end and multiple questions left standing so I would like to read the next book to see what happens. The story opens with Vaughn Sanders who goes by Vee in her business as a Madam. She runs an escort service in order to pay off medical bills she ran up while trying to save her drug addicted sister who eventually committed suicide. She wants to get custody of her niece with Downs Syndrome but needs financial stability before the Government will consider it.

Vee threatens a Senator with blackmail photos after he roughs up one of her escorts and then ends up having to take her place the following night with a new client named Ryker. Ryker is a powerful divorce attorney who only represents rich men. He doesn’t believe in love or marriage and only wants a smart and beautiful woman for business dinners and sex.

Ryker pretty quickly figures out that Vaughn is hiding things and leading a double life but us intrigued by her and wants to know her, so he wants to keep seeing her. Vaughn doesn’t want anyone knowing her personal life and she is also remembering things from her past. There are also some side storylines about Rykers previous relationship, one about the father of Vaughn’s niece and some other characters pop up that seem integral to the story. Overall it is a good book and I am excited to see how much of it is brought forward into the next one.

This book pulled me right in from the start... but then it lost me somewhere along the way. I have a bit of a bumpy history with K. Bromberg's books, if I'm honest. I've loved some. I've disliked some. And Resist falls somewhere in the middle. I just felt indifferent. I never really connected with the story or the characters, and at some point, I just started skimming. Not my favorite, it was just meh.

Resist was Amazing! I love K. Bromberg's writing. This story pulled me in on the first page. It's well written and has everything you'd want in a good romance. Vaughn is a strong character that will do what's necessary to get custody of her niece, and Ryker is a man who normally doesn't chase women. Vaughn will prove to be the exception to his rule. When they meet, it's a battle of wits, and so much more. I cannot wait for the second book of this duet.

2 stars
This was a case of 'it's me, not you'. I had issues with this book. The main character is an owner of an escort service. Right there, that is one of my biggest problems. And because of this it was not my cup of tea,

Ryker and Vaughn’s story was uniquely different. K Bromberg has finally managed for me to find someone to top Colton after all these years. The beginning set it off to trying to figure out why Vaughn was doing what she was. How did she get to this point you know? From then on there was this mysterious air to the book and I loved it! There were some key players in this book that kept me on the edge. I felt like they had something to do with everything. I was ready for a surprise visit from the uncle and thinking is he the one sending all this stuff. Then there is Ryker and I was trying to figure out what his motives were as well. I still have no idea what he has planned for Vaughn. You get to see how he evolves in the relationship with Vaughn, it was really romantic. He was starting to come around and claimed he is in love with her and then boom that ending!! I really, really want to get my hands on the second book. Why did K Bromberg have such an epic cliffhanger? I have more questions than answers and I can’t wait for book #2.
Let’s not forget to add how adorable and sweet Lucy is!!
