Resist is the perfect title for the beginning of Ryker Lockhart and Vaughn Sanders’ story, and while it’s clear that Vaughn is the one who wants and maybe even needs to resist this sexy, intelligent, and arrogant divorce attorney, it certainly seems that her resistance is futile, regardless of what she could lose by giving into her attraction to Ryker and losing focus on why she’s living a double-life in the first place.

Vaughn Sanders is all business and there are multiple reasons for her tunnel vision focus that are revealed throughout the course of the story. She’s intelligent, driven, and resolute on what she needs to accomplish in order to reach her goals but her present is built on a mountain of lies and with a man like Ryker, it seems to only be a matter of time before Vaughn’s facade crumbles and everything she’s trying to keep hidden threatens to unravel.

Mixing business with pleasure is never advised, but these two can’t seem to resist one another and despite the fallout that could ensue from them pursuing any other type of relationship other than a strictly professional one, it’s clear that they can’t stop their feelings from growing, which means there’s a real possibility that their closeness just might be their downfall, especially with the number of outside interferences that seem to want everything these two have built and are building to burn to the ground.

Even at the end of Resist, I still don’t have a complete understanding of either Ryker or Vaughn, and while I feel like that’s deliberate on the part of the author, it still makes me question their motives, their words, and their actions. The reason these two meet as well as why Ryker pursues Vaughn so tirelessly factor into the direction their more than professional relationship goes, but there’s a lot that Ryker doesn’t know about Vaughn’s past and present, which means that it’s difficult to ascertain his reaction when Vaughn’s secrets and lies are unearthed.

There are multiple plot line threads strewn throughout Resist - some that help shed light on both Ryker and Vaughn while others focus specifically on one or the other, shedding light on certain areas of their lives as well as enlightening readers about all that could destroy them.

Ryker and Vaughn’s story has only just begun, which means that Resist ends in quite the cliffhanger, forcing readers to wait to see what happens, knowing that things may not be what they seem, until the next installment, Reveal, releases.

4.5 Poison Apples

So I am torn on how I feel about this book. For me this book had a lot of highs and lows. There were time when exciting things would happen and I would be invested in the story but then there were other times there was a lull and I was waiting for something to happen. I really enjoyed the storyline. I thought it was unique and had me asking questions while reading which lead me to keep reading so I could get answers. But I had a hard time connecting with the characters so that made me not terribly investing in the story. This is book one of two so if you haven't guess there is a cliffhanger and I hope I get the conclusion I am looking for.

K. Bromberg always delivers with strong characters and she didn't disappoint with the first installment of Wicked Ways. The chemistry and strong personalities of Vaughn and Ryker won't let you put the book down and then when you get to the end. Then BAM cliffhanger! But you know the next book is going to rock your world like this one. So it is worth the wait.

I went into this completely blind. First off, you should know that it is book one of a duet, so things are not resolved in Resist. Hello, cliffhanger! I started this in ebook and finished it in audiobook. I loved it. K. Bromberg is an automatic one-click for me so I was not surprised that it was amazing. What did surprise me was the amount of suspense she doled out in this one.
Vaughn is living sort of a double life in order to get custody of her niece. And she has some CRAZY baggage. Ryker is a big-time divorce attorney who is completely over women. They meet and the chemistry is off the charts. There is a lot of angst but it all felt really organic. As always, I very much enjoyed the writing. Kristy Bromberg is a master at weaving a story. I had a fun time noticing some "Easter eggs" that she threw in from other books.
Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke made it even better with their fantastic narration. I highly recommend and can't wait to get my hands on book two! Thankfully, we don't have long to wait as it releases in September.

I need the next book - yesterday! Resist definitely lives up to it's title, as you won't be able to resist the dark romance that plays out in the most devious of ways. Be forewarned, this story isn't wrapped up in a tidy little bow for you, so prepare yourself. K. Bromberg knows just how to draw you in, twist you up and leave you begging for more!

I have not read much by Ms Bromerg. I read about half of the Driven series and really enjoyed it. Life happened and I never did finish reading the series. After reading Resist and enjoying it so much, I want to read more.

Ok, so onto resist. Sexy alpha? Check. Interesting female protagonist? Check. Drama, passion, like, dislike, lust after? Check, check check.

Ms Bromberg has dished up a passionate page-turner with a side order of down and dirty!

I enjoyed almost everything about this enticing read. It drew me into the story quickly, it had a great plot, sexy characters and chemistry in abundance.

I said I enjoyed almost everything. This thing that I disliked is the thing that I always dislike when a book has a hold of me. It’s the moment when that book leaves me hanging. The dreaded cliffhanger.

This is a great first in series and I look forward to reading the rest.

Wonderful chemistry filled romance , slow burn which I love with lots of emotion and now I need to know what’s happening next. A great entertaining read

YESSSS! After 3 chapters in, I already added book 2 to my tbr! Thankfully we don't have to wait that long! Its been a few since I've read K's books and this might be her best yet! I will say that while this story is predictable, the story moved at an intense pace that I really enjoyed the story. Superstar narrators Erin and Jason were perfect! I highly recommend this on audio.

Vaughn is a Madam when this book opens but as it starts to flow you find out that she is so much more. When Ryker uses her service for his needs and Vaughn has to step in for one of the women she manages they both start to break down walls. Vaughn has memories from her past that have been haunting her. Ryker has commitment and power issues that are challenged by Vaughn. I was a little hesitant at the beginning of the story but as it went along I was dragged further and further into the complex coupling of Vaughn and Ryker. There are content warnings for sexual abuse, drugs, and suicide discussed within the story. I can't wait to get the conclusion because that ending left me reeling!

I love K. Bromberg’s books and really enjoyed this one. I normally wouldn’t have picked this one up based off the description alone. I wasn’t sure it would be very romantic but I just trusted the author would deliver a good love story and she did. Vaughn and Ryker were explosive together and their story gave me all the feels! There is a cliffhanger ending, so be warned. I’ll be devouring the next book as soon as it releases in September to finish Vaughn and Ryker’s story. I recommend RESIST for romance lovers looking for a hot and steamy love story with some angst.

Yes! So much yesss!! Resist was so good. Addicting! Sexy! Unputdownable! I loved this book!! K. Bromberg definitely brought the drama along with the heat.

Vaughn and Ryker have an insanely hot, emotionally deep and at times utterly frustrating connection. There were moments where I couldn't decide if I liked them together or not. Their push and pull was so maddeningly delicious. As individuals, you saw some real character growth. I especially enjoyed seeing Ryker fall from then domineering, cold alpha to a swoony, downright sexy hero.

When everything is going perfectly, K. Bromberg manages to pull the rug out from under us. Leaving us with a crazy cliffhanger and a whole lot of questions.

If you're fan of this author's previous work, then I have no doubts that you'll love Resist. This story gave me those same feelings I had while reading the Driven series. That page flipping, desperate to know what happens feeling. And I love that feeling. I cant wait to get my hands on book 2.

4.5 Stars for Resist, book 1 in the Wicked Ways Duet. This book was everything I have come to expect from this very talented author but I do have to warn you this is a Duet so be prepared for the ending.
This book captivated me from the first page to the very last line and I loved Ryker Lockhart and Vaughn Sanders and I’m sure you will too. I really don’t want to give to much of this story away because I think you need to read Resist with no preconceived ideas you need to read it first hand to get the most out of this emotional intense read. This author always gives us strong characters and this book is no exception, it’s a book that will leave you wanting more it will leave wanting answers now !! I can’t wait for a Reveal I need to know if Ryker can redeem himself.....

This one had it all. Scandal and secrets aplenty. There was game playing and secret identities. There was power and threats. There was shame and sacrifice and somewhere there was an innocent little girl that made those around her human and lovable beyond the surface of their hard business edges. That ending makes me want to know what happens next.

This is the first book I have read by this author, and I was definitely not disappointed. I will certainly look into reading more books by this author, this book is very well written, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and look forward to reading the second in this series. 4.5 Stars

This is the first book in the the Wicked Ways duet, and the story of Ryker, and Vaughn. Ryker is a divorce attorney, choosing only to represent men. Vaughn has many secrets, and a past she would like to keep hidden. Unable to resist each other, or their feelings, they have a tormented relationship, with each not totally being honest. This book was an amazing read, the characters are well written, and have great chemistry, this book is intense, suspenseful, emotional, passionate, and steamy, a must read.

No words. I was so addicted to this story I couldn’t put it down until I finished in the wee hrs of the morning. And then after that incredible ending? I tossed and turned all night. RESIST was as intense as I would have never expected. There was a bit of suspense but the intensity I’m referring to was between Vaughn and Ryker. Holy Moly did they have some chemistry! And there were times it was near combustible and I’m not even talking about the steamy bits. Vaughn was strong willed and stubborn and went toe-to-toe with Ryker on many occasions. The push and pull tension between them was fiery and thick. There wasn’t a single moment that I didn’t feel it. It was like a battle of wills throughout the whole story. Ryker wanted Vaughn something fierce and she battled herself as well as Ryker at every turn. Her attraction to him was undeniable, but how can you be certain of someone’s true intentions or their feelings if your time was paid for? But Ryker was persistent and wasn’t going to let Vaughn get away without a fight. He was rich and powerful and intimidated everyone around him, but not Vaughn. And when he finally acknowledged his feelings there was no chance he pass up the chance to be with Vaughn, but as the story built into a jaw dropping cliffhanger, Ryker learned he was his own worst enemy at times. No matter his intention, he was so inexperienced with relationships that he mucked it up more times than he got it right. This story...these characters- were so deep under my skin...I was obsessed!! So filled with needing to know what happens next, I rushed into the advanced copy of REVEAL for the rest of their story - because there was no way I could’ve managed life or think of anything else until I knew how it ended for Vaughn and Ryker. Their story CONSUMED me!!

I need more! NOOOOO! The ending killed me!!! Yeah those were my words when I reached the end of Resist. LIKE WTF JUST HAPPENED? I was on cloud nine and then pop! The bubble burst.

Resist had me wanting these characters find their person. I was hoping and willing for the hero to take the leap. I was elated towards the middle through almost the end. I thought that these two characters were a force to be reckon. And they so were!

This story ripped me apart. I am asking for another chance to understand what we are faced with. One moment it was paradise and the next a tsunami hit. I can't wrap my head around it and I LOVE THAT! I need a book to consume you and keep you on your toes. Resist is perfect! You will be left with a cliffy, but it will keep you on the edge on your seat. I need book two like yesterday. A MUST READ!

Vaughn is the successful owner of a business that caters to the needs of wealthy men. She has worked hard to get to where she is, and she needs to remain focused and not let anything distract her from her goals. When she agrees to fill in for one of her employees so she doesn’t have a disappointed client her life will never be the same.

Ryder is a successful divorce attorney who has no problem using whatever means are necessary to achieve his goals. He has decided that he wants Vaughn and isn’t afraid to expose her secrets to get what he wants.

A battle ensues between the two as Vaughn is determined to leave her past and secrets where they are while Ryder is intrigued by her and wants to know everything about her. They are complete opposites as Vaughn comes across as confident but that couldn’t be farther from the truth while Ryder is determined to keep his emotions under lock and key which makes him appear cold.

The rollercoaster of their relationship escalates into a cliffhanger that leaves us wondering what the future has in store for this couple. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

It's a duet so have that in mind for the end. This story between Ryker and Vaughn is amazing. It got me reading page after page and didn't let me go. I am a fan of K Bromberg writing, there is sass in her characters as well as great chemistry. Ryker is a guy with some issues but this time Vaughn is the one trying to overcome hers. I can't wait for the next book, K Bromberg has done it again, she has kept me on the edge and left me wanting more. Next book can't come quick enough!

K Bromberg brings us yet another fantastic book. But, to be honest, it's beyond fantastic - it's INCREDIBLE!! I didn't think I could love anything more than her Driven series – but Resist proved me wrong – you just HAVE to read it!

Vaughn Sanders was never supposed to meet Ryker Lockhart - they only ever spoke over the telephone - but certain circumstances brought them together, and everything was going well until memories from Vaughn's past reared their ugly head.

I don't want to give anything away, but so much happens in this book and the cliffhanger is one not to be missed! OMG!! I can't wait for the next book! 5 stars!
