This book was so fun! This was the first book I've read from this author and I really enjoyed it. The story was different from anything I've read recently and really captured my attention. It was so well written and the characters were fantastic.

A rom com perfect for any Austen fan! Full of period details, humour and jokes as well as nods to the authors extensive history - this is a laugh out loud novel that is a perfect summer read!

This is a very fun, silly book full of period details and Austen quotes. Lots of romance and friendship.

This is a sweet book! It's partly a rom-com, and partly a light mystery involving a time-travelling Jane Austen - unfortunately, I wish the two strands had been more closely entwined. As it stands, the first quarter of the book is straightforward contemporary chick lit, the middle half is set in an alternate universe where Jane Austen is in the present and never wrote her books, and the last quarter goes back to the normal rom-com of the start. The poor blending of the stories means that the pacing is way off - I actually had to look up how long the book was about halfway through, as I felt like I'd been reading for far too long for what had actually happened.

That being said, if it were condensed into about 200 pages, it would be a five star read for me. I really liked Rose, the main character, and it was a lot of fun to see how the world was different without Jane's work. I was invested in Rose and Aiden's relationship to begin with, but lost interest completely when the focus switched wholly to Jane's time-travel and the romance was more or less abandoned, so the climax of the romance, though very sweet, didn't quite have the impact it could have. I liked the veracity of the Bath setting, and the obvious love for Jane Austen that the authors have. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could.

The idea is cute, but the execution, the one-note characters it's impossible to care about, the ridiculously long setup, and the awkward pacing erased what charm this book would have had.

SO glad that NetGalley sent me this ARC in exchange for an honest review! I'm a big fan of intelligent time travel stories, and bringing Jane Austenites into this adventure is super-clever. The authors blend their writings well here, layering this amazing 'what if?' story with so much engaging detail. They avoid cliché, and have made something fresh in this genre. Very well done, and the type of book you'll keep thinking about long after you're done. It's chattable in book club, and you'll recommend it to all of your Jane Austen fan friends.

Jane Austen blended with Sophie Kinsella style fiction and a dash of time travel make for an enjoyable read. Brighton & Grafton's love of Jane Austen shines through the plot and the characters are lively and interesting.

How many books can be written on the Jane Austen theme without becoming redundant or boring?  That's what I thought when I first picked up this book.  To my pleasant surprise, the author managed to not only hold my attention but kept me flipping the pages as  her time travel plot took on "another dimension".  

Having visited Bath in the recent past, I could really visualize the scenes in the book.  Anyone who is a bona fide Janite will have a lot of fun with Jane's little know adventures into the modern era.  It's a keeper.

This is such a lovely and funny story. It took me only a day to read it because I just couln’t put it down. I am a Jane Austen fan so The Partucular Charm of Miss Jane Austen was a must read for me. I enjoyed every single chapter. I’m hoping there will be a sequel and just because the book ended with a cliffhanger.

There are many things to love about this book.  There is time travel, love, friendship and Jane Austen.  Rose loves her job as setting up people in luxury apartments all around Bath,  She is shy and socially awkward whereas her friend Morgan is American, outgoing and funny.  Jane Austen time travels to our time and asks the question 'What would have happened is I never wrote my stories"?  Thankfully we will never have to know.  This is a charming book which I highly recommend.

The particular charm of Miss Jane Austin

I almost gave up on this book, the first 25% was just too much of “BFF” between two of the main characters, Rose, a British 30 something avid Jane Austin fan, and Morgan, an American 20 something avid Jane Austin fan.  They met on a Harry Potter fan site and then realizing their great love of all things Jane Austin, continued their friendship moving to a Jane Austin site where they became best friends.  The book opens with Morgan making her first visit to Bath to meet Rose and attend the annual Jane Austin festival.
The book got interesting when Jane Austin appeared.  I won’t give any spoilers, but I did enjoy the book a bit more after this development.  Overall I felt the content a bit immature and wondered if the target audience was a bit younger than myself.

It was not bad, but in a way too convoluted and long most of all. The character were a little too much stereotyped but that helped me to remember the names, mostly. I appreciate this book mostly after a week that I have read it because it was ok, but while reading it I was looking forward to see the end.

Non era male, ma certe volte la trama era troppo arzigogolata e soprattutto lungo. I personaggi erano a volte eccessivi, anche se questo mi é servito per ricordarli. La cosa strana é che mentre lo leggevo non vedevo l'ora di arrivare alla fine, ma dopo una settimana l'ho considerato migliore di come lo avevo pensato.

A most enjoyable book. I’ve spent a rainy day reading it. A novel storyline which I felt went a bit flat for a few chapters with a change of scene in the middle but which quickly regained my interest. Just when I thought it was all over, it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger and I’m hoping there is a follow up book. Well worth reading

Although this didn’t 100% work for me it was lovely, for the most part, to read something light and passionate about our beloved English author, Jane Austen. My attention drifted about half-way through when Rose, our central character ‘travels’. Without giving away the plot, I found this section a little unconvincing and a little flat. But don’t let that stop you from reading! 
At the heart, this book is a homage to the wonderful life and legacy of Jane Austen, presented in a light-hearted novel of friendship, relationships, self-esteem, belonging and love. There’s some lovely moments and chuckles along the way. I would have loved to have seen more of both Aiden and James throughout, as I enjoyed these interactions more. 
Overall an enjoyable story, drawing in the wonderful life and culture of Bath and the love of the fabulous Jane Austen.

I absolutely loved this novel. I started reading it assuming it was a straightforward romance so was really pleasantly surprised with the unpredictable twists that this book contained. Cleverly plotted, I was fascinated by how on earth the authors would manage to resolve the problems they threw at the main characters. I needn’t have worried for they did so seamlessly.
You don’t have to be a fan of Jane Austen to enjoy this book, but if you are then it has many added delights. It’s clear how well the two authors know their Austen and their knowledge and passion shines through, lifting the book from enjoyable escapist novel to beautiful homage.
The book not only has memorable, relatable characters but descriptions of Bath that take you straight to the heart of the city and convince you that you are there with them, worrying about how they are going to resolve the problems they face and willing their romantic interests to flourish.
A fabulous book, beautifully written. I shall be buying more from these authors.

Great story. Romance, history, literature, the beautiful city of Bath, and we meet Jane Austen - what's not to love? I haven't given it 5 stars because it felt unfinished, but that's only a minor criticism. I'm wondering if a sequel is coming - they've certainly left it looking that way. I also would have liked to hear a little more from Aiden and perhaps from Rose at the end, but overall I enjoyed this book. It certainly makes you think.

I really enjoyed this light, easy, read. Yes, you have to suspend your disbelief but once you do that, it really is a charming read. The first part of the book - before the major plot point happens - drags a little bit but stick with it as it gets a lot better after about 25% in. I hope, from the ending, that a sequel is in the works.

Anything with time traveling and JANE AUSTEN is gold to me. I didn't particularly know what to expect with this book I was honestly drawn in with the name Jane Austen and the beautiful blue of the book cover but I very much enjoyed this book and would definitely buy for my shelves and to add to my Austen collection 💜

The Particular Charm of Miss Jane Austen is a unique and fantastic book. Who doesn't love Jane Austen? Well written and great characters.

I have to say, I do have a penchant for any book that involves time travel/parallel worlds/alternative timelines etc... I find the subject as a whole fascinating and it’s always interesting to see how other people deal with these scenarios. So I was intrigued to see how that would work here, especially with it Kit actually being a specific sci-fi/ fantasy genre.

Well, on the whole, I enjoyed it but I’ll just say something here about the cover. How pretty is it? The colours are bright and vivid and immediately caught my eye. So well done there, it’s done it’s job brilliantly. 
The story itself has been written by two authors, and you might think that would disrupt the flow of the novel, but it doesn’t at all. I don’t know how they worked the story between them but it fused together nicely. 
The characters had good personalities, perhaps a little more depth in places would just add that extra “oomph” to the whole thing, but generally, a good solid read. One that would be lovely for a session on the beach.
