Evie is a bit of a Houdini. She can get herself into all manner of places where she should not be. Comes in very handy when you work for Uncle Sam. But after an op is blown she lands back on her own doorstep, amidst a real family emergency. One brother has been seriously injured and another is on the run. Evie knows her brother is not guilty of what he is accused of and knows that he has enough know-who to evade capture until he's ready to be found.

Dylan was stunned when Evie walked out of his life a year ago and further amazed when she turns up at his home, bleeding all over the place! He knew there was more to her than the persona she projected but he never expected this. But danger and Evie now go hand in hand and she soon regrets pulling him into her mess. She left him once because she didn't want to make their relationship be based on a lie but Dylan is ready for Evie this time...he has no intention of letting her go this time.

Evie and Dylan are deluding themselves if they think they can keep things platonic this time round - the sparks are fair flying and their chemistry is off the charts. An for a man who isn't interested in rekindling the flames, Dylan sure has a hard time letting her go.

betrayal, suspense, treachery, treason and plenty of family drama all mix with a tightly wound thriller. Fast-paced and full of chemistry and great characters.

4.25 stars--BISHOP’S KNIGHT is the first instalment in Katie Reus’ contemporary, adult ENDGAME erotic, romantic suspense trilogy focusing on the Bishop Siblings. This is twenty-eight year old, former CIA operative Evangeline ‘Evie’ Bishop, and thirty six year old, former US military soldier, billionaire businessman Dylan Blackwood’s story line. There is a slight cross-over with the author’s Red Stone Security series.

Told from several third person perspectives including Evie and Dylan, using present day and memories from the past, BISHOP’S KNIGHT follows the second chance romance between twenty-eight year old, former CIA operative Evangeline ‘Evie’ Bishop, and thirty-six year old, former military and billionaire businessman Dylan Blackwood. Approximately one year earlier, while on assignment CIA operative Evie Bishop fell in love with her mark, Dylan Blackwood but upon Dylan’s proposal Evie ran without looking back. Fast forward to present day wherein Evie is desperate for Dylan’s help, a desperation that brings her face to face with the man whose heart she destroyed. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship and romance between Evie and Dylan, and the potential fall-out as Evie and a group of CIA agents have been targeted by someone from their past.

Evie Bishop’s life hasn’t been easy for the past several weeks. Six months earlier she walked away from the man that she loves; her oldest brother Evan was in the hospital in a medically induced coma, and her brother Ellis was on the run, accused of killing one of his partners in the DEA. When another CIA operative comes looking for help, Evie knows of only one man who may be capable of getting the job done, the man whose heart she broke six months earlier. Dylan Blackwood could never understand why Evie ran the day he proposed but her reappearance in his life brings with it more danger and secrets than he could have ever imagined.

The relationship between Evie and Dylan is one of second chances; a rekindling romance between two people destroyed by secrets, lies and a government operation wherein meeting Dylan Blackwood, was a means to an end. Their reconnection is not without more secrets and lies but Evie knows to that forgiveness comes with grovelling and the truth. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Evie’s brothers: Evan and his fiancée Isla, and DEA agent Ellis Bishop; Dr. Finn Kelly, and Evie’s fellow CIA operatives-analyst Benjamin Miller and Samara, Detective Carlito Duarte, security specialist and former FBI agent Leo Webster, and several other FBI, CIA and government agents.

BISHOP’S KNIGHT introduces some of the background in relationship to the lives and struggles of Bishops siblings. The premise is engaging, intriguing and inviting; the romance is seductive and steamy; the character are colorful, energetic and strong. BISHOP’S KNIGHT is a wonderful start to a new series.

"Always have a backup for your backup, was her motto. Plan A, B, all the way to Z."

Bishop's Knight was my introduction to Katie Reus. I was intrigued to read about a badass female doing black ops work. As I suspected, Evie Bishop has a lot of skills. She can hide in plain sight using disguises, but can she hide her feelings from Dylan Blackwood when she shows up unannounced on his doorstep after breaking his heart?

The chemistry between Dylan and Evie is intense. When they come face to face after being apart for months there's no denying the connection is still there. But, will he be able to forgive her once he learns the truth? In the meantime, how thrilling it was for me as he got his first taste of her 'special skills' and realized there was a lot more to her than he thought.

I really enjoyed the suspense of this story, trying to figure out who the bad guys are and how they would catch them was exciting. I especially enjoyed that this first book in the trilogy focused on the female Bishop sibling. I got to meet her two brothers and the author did a good job of keeping me in the dark about them other than the family side of things. They are a close-knit family who depends on each other, but they also tell it like it is which leads me to believe there will be some fun banter to look forward to in the coming installments. I also enjoyed the support characters, two and four-legged, which I'm sure we'll get to spend more time with as well.

This is a new one in a series about a woman who loved to serve her country and she was good until she fell for a man who was part of the job. That was six months ago and now Evie is back in Miami and no longer part of the CIA. However danger has forced her hand and she ends up on the doorstep of Dylan Blackwood.

Dylan hasn’t forgotten or gotten over Evie and having her come to him just might help figure out what went wrong. Things heat up between the sheets and on the streets with gunman, explosions, and set ups. Will He stick around when the true side of Evie comes out and how their relationship started all those months ago? And will they survive the bad guys?

It was a good read and I just enjoy Katie’s books.

Bishop’s Knight is the first book in the new Endgame Trilogy of romantic suspense novels from Katie Reus which features the Bishop siblings – Ellis, Evan and Evie. It’s a fast-paced, well-put together story full of secrets, lies and betrayals featuring a sexy second-chance romance and an engaging central couple – and the author sets up the other stories in the trilogy in a manner that feels organic and doesn’t detract from the principal storyline.

The book opens fifteen months before the commencement of the story proper, as Evie and her crack team of CIA operatives is in the final stages of their current assignment to take down a Russian mob-affiliated arms dealer. Although things don’t quite go according to plan, the mission is successful, and they’re told their next job will take them to Miami – Evie’s home town. Nothing more is known about it at this stage, other than it’s big, they’re teaming up with the Feds and their target is someone named Jensen.

When we meet Evie again, she’s retired from the CIA and has been back home in Miami for a month, where she’s temporarily living in the apartment belonging to her brother Ellis. Her wealthy, well-connected family is reeling from the news that Ellis – a DEA agent – has been accused of murdering his partner and has gone on the run and off the grid; and as if that wasn’t bad enough, a recent explosion at Bishop Enterprises has left her oldest brother, Evan, critically injured and necessitated a medically induced coma. Evie is taking a short break from her vigil at the hospital with her parents and Evan’s fiancée, Isla, when she receives a text from her friend and former CIA colleague Samara Sousa announcing that she’s outside – which is where Evie finds her, bleeding from a gunshot wound to her hip.

She does what she can, but her friend needs more medical attention than is to be found in Evie’s first-aid kit. As Evie works to staunch the bleeding, Samara tells her what brought her to Miami – the news that two of the people they’d worked with on the Jensen operation have been murdered and the desire to warn Evie that she might also be a target. Samara doesn’t want to go to a hospital and leave a trail for whoever shot her, so Evie has to think fast – and reluctantly comes to the conclusion that there’s only one person she knows in Miami who is likely to be able to help.

Dylan Blackwood – a former marine turned property magnate – and Evie met over a year earlier when Evie had targeted him as a way of getting an introduction to Rod Jensen, a Miami real estate mogul in who’d been involved in human trafficking and many other criminal activities. Her relationship with Dylan was only supposed to be a casual thing – a few dates, at most – and would end after Dylan had got Evie the introduction, but she hadn’t been able to end it. From the first moment they met, there’d been an intense attraction and sense of connection zinging between them, and Evie wasn’t ready to give it up, even though she’d known, deep down, that one day she would have to. And that day came around a year previously when Dylan proposed – and Evie had to do one of the hardest things she’d ever done and walk away.

Knowing Dylan is a decent man – and that he retains the services of an on call, concierge doctor – Evie takes Samara to his mansion in the exclusive South Beach area. Dylan is surprised to see her, but as Evie had hoped, he agrees to help. Being close to him again brings her ruthlessly squashed feelings for him back to the surface and into sharp focus, and she tries hard to shove them away again, knowing that by asking him for help, she could well have put him in danger, too. But Dylan is far from stupid. He’s worked out that Evie must have worked for one of the alphabet-soup agencies, and suspects that her past employment is somehow tied to the danger she’s in now – but he can handle himself and he’s not going to let Evie face it alone.

The story moves quickly with plenty of twists and turns, and the author does a good job of showing that Evie and Dylan have never really fallen out of love with each other. What I didn’t like so much was Evie’s constant bemoaning to herself that she and Dylan can never have a future together, so convinced is she that he’ll dump her once he finds out the truth, that she’d used him as part of an op. I’m not a big fan of that whole ‘I-can’t-tell-you-because-then-you’ll-hate-me’ thing; Dylan and Evie are adults, not little kids, and she should have thought enough of him to allow him to make his own decision. Luckily for her, Dylan is the better man; he’s determined not to let her go it alone, and he respects her abilities and her decisions, so while he wants to protect her, he never tries to take over or to push her aside for the sake of her safety. He’s a great guy, prepared to help the woman who broke his heart simply because she needs it; and although he’s hurt when he finds out what Evie has been hiding from him, he handles his disappointment in a mature way.

Bishop’s Knight is a quick, satisfying read and as I said at the beginning, the author has set up the next two stories in the trilogy very well. I’m looking forward to reading them.

Book one in the Bishop siblings Trilogy .

This book is about Evie Bishop, a CIA agent who is falling for an Asset on her last case.

Dylan Blackwood is a real estate mogul in Miami and is glad he didn’t skip his parents cocktail party this time. As soon as he lays eyes on Evie Bishop he’s smitten.

6 months later, Evie is former CIA, her brother survived a bombing at his office, her other brother, a DEA Agent, is wanted for murder and she left the love of her life Dylan because their relationship started on a lie.

When on of her old partners (who’s been shot) is at her doorstep asking for help, there is only one person she can think of who can help them...but will Dylan let her in again??

This book was a great read and I can’t wait for her brothers books!

I received this ebook copy from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Bishop’s Knight is the first book in the Endgame Trilogy by Katie Reus. After years working undercover for the CIA Evie Bishop is burned out. She returns home only to find one brother in a coma and the other on the run, suspected of the murder of his partner at the DEA. When a former colleague turns up on her doorstep bleeding from a gunshot wound and the news that a previous op they’d both worked on might be coming back to bite them she’s left reeling. With her family already under pressure from the problems with her brothers the only person Evie can turn to is her ex – Dylan Blackwood - but after turning down his proposal a year before will he be willing to help her?

This is the first time I’ve been in on the ground floor of a new Katie Reus series so to speak and I’ve got to say it has got off to one hell of a start. Evie is my kind of heroine, a girl who can stand on her own two feet but isn’t afraid to accept help albeit reluctantly as instinct makes her want to protect those she loves. Dylan is the love of her life but after lying to him, she doesn’t feel that she deserves him. Thankfully he’s not the kind of man to take no for an answer and not even the little matter of assassins will deter him.

I love how this author writes romantic suspense with plots that grab your attention from the start and somehow manages to create characters that leave you wanting to read more about them even once you’ve finished their book. Thankfully she does write series so that takes care of that problem. Be warned this story does jump a few times between the past and the present which I know some readers don’t like but it is clearly marked and is necessary to the plot. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

As much as I wanted to like Bishop's Knight, it didn't work for me which was a huge surprise as I love most of Katie Reus' books. I think my main problem was there was just too much going on with Evie's brothers which, at least for me, meant that there wasn't quite enough meat to Evie's story. I'm still a huge fan as I know it's not unusual to not fall in love with every book a favorite author writes.

I loved this book. The chemistry is off the charts. The story flows quickly and reminds me of the Redstone series. The quirks of the characters the action and drama. Evie and Dylan are fun. Samara and Evie make a great team and through in Doc and Dylan and the race to find the bad guys is a thrill ride!! Loved it

First book in an intriguing new series by Katie Reus. While the Bishop siblings may come from money, they have all worked hard at their chosen professions. Evie has worked black ops in the CIA, but has burned out and come home after her one brother, Evan ends up in the hospital, a survivor of a bombing and her other brother, Ellis, who works for DEA has been set up and is in hiding. When one of her friends and ex colleague, Samara, comes to her door after being shot, Evie know of only one person that she can go to for sanctuary, her ex, Dylan Blackwood. Even though she turned down his marriage proposal and disappeared from his life without a real explanation, he takes them into his well guarded home. Being ex military, extremely wealthy, and still in love with her, he provides not only sanctuary, but assistance in helping Samara and Evie find out who is after them. Action packed page turner with cleverly written plot, full of twists and turns and skillfully developed characters.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley.com. this is my unbiased and voluntary review.

She’s very good at getting into places she doesn’t belong but years of working black ops has burned her out, so Evie Bishop returns home. But her return lands her right into unexpected chaos with one brother in a coma and the other in hiding and wanted for murder, so when a fellow operative from her past shows up, she turns to the one man she knows she can trust. Dylan Blackwood is stunned when he finds Evie on his doorstep covered in blood. She turned down his marriage proposal and walked out of his life, so he’ll give the help she needs even if he can’t forget her betrayal.

This powerfully explosive and thrillingly suspenseful romantic suspense starts things off with excitement and suspense and just keeps getting better. The hero and heroine have sparks flying in every direction throughout their rocky relationship as their magnetic attraction keeps getting in the way of their determination to keep things platonic this time round. Lots of emotional angst and friction round out this electrical relationship and ensures that readers really want to know how things work out between Dylan and Evie.

The plot is fast paced, non-stop excitement and packed full of suspense and startling twists and an astonishing betrayal that rocks everyone’s world. In fact the story is so suspenseful and full of head turning events including those gut wrenching ones that involve her family that Evie is kept going full out throughout the story. Once again, the author has created a fascinating world full of wonderful characters that readers easily fall for and want to visit over and over again and painting such vivid imagery that they remain glued to every last word.

Bishop’s Knight by Katie Reus
Endgame Trilogy #1

Action-packed from beginning to end this book had me hooked and unwilling to put it down till I had finished it! It lays the groundwork for the books to follow and was absolutely great in its own right.

What I liked:
* Evie: She was a tough cookie with a heart of gold. She loved her family, job, friends and...Dylan
* Dylan: Oh my...a hunk and a half wonderful book boyfriend!
* All of it from beginning to end! Plot, pacing, romance...all of it!

What I didn’t like:
* The bad guy – so thankful he got his comeuppance!

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I like to read more in this series? Without a doubt
Will I read more by this author? Definitely!

Thank you to NetGalley and KR Press, LLC for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Terrific action and adventure in this first story in the new Endgame trilogy from this fantastic author. This has all the alphabet agencies involved with several storylines surrounding the Bishop siblings. The main focus is on the mystery of who's killing operatives with Evie Bishop front and center. I love this fabulous heroine as a kickass CIA operative and her equally talented sidekick, Samara. These two take on the bad guys with thrilling cunning and skill. And when they get in a jam Evie turns to her former flame, the extremely hunky, Dylan. The former military/billionaire is yummy! But things ended badly between the two and Evie needs to come clean if she wants a second chance with Dylan. The chemistry between these two is steamy and undeniable. But first Dylan has to helps Evie stay alive while hunting the culprit. The Bishop family is in the mix with one of Evie's brothers on the run and the other involved in a tragedy. Sets up for things to come in this series. A fast-moving spy mystery and a sizzling second-chance romance. What more do you need? Just fantastic!

With the perfect combination of intrigue and romance, this story is the great start to be another winning series by this author. Not only is the romance pitch perfect, the intrigue is edge of your seat intense. Dylan and Evie’s chemistry is so palpable it nearly jumped off the page...it definitely kept the pages rapidly turning for me.

Evangeline/Evie hadjust finished a thirty minute workout in her brother Ellis’s extra room, it had helped clear her head some. She had been in Miami for about a month now. She was staying in Ellis’s place as he was in hiding someplace as he was wanted for murdering one of his partners with the DEA. He had been set up Evie knew her boyscout like borhter besides that is he had murdered someone he wouldn’t have been stupid enough to be found out as the muderer. He had been charged with the crime a week ago and had gone on the run. Her brother had gone to ground and hadn’t reached out to any of them. Her older brother Evan was in a medically induced coma for three weeks so far it didn’t look like anything was changing. His office had been bombed killing several people including his fiance’s father. She was at her brother Ellis’s now taking a break from the hospital and her phone buzzed. Not many people knew the number to this particular cell phone. The message read: I’m on the back porch. Don’t shoot me. Evie typed back: Who is this? Than it said Samara. She grabbed her pistol. She wasn’t expecting a threat but some habits would follow her to the grave. Not to mention that one of her brothers had been set up for murder. And whoever it was would pay. Whenever she figured out who that someone was. Than she opened the door to Damara but Samara was clutching her hip. A crisome line of blood dripped down her fingers. Samara rasped out it’s not as bad as it looks. Her face was pale. She said she’d been shot and she didn’t know who did it. But she thought she knew what it was about. Samara and Evie had worked ops together. Samara said she thought she knew what it was related to. She helped her friend inside and locked the door. Evie retired from the CIA months ago. Samara said she wasn’t on a job. She had come to see her and then this happened. Evie knew the bullet was still lodged in Samara she could see the bulge. Evie asked if she had been followed and Samara said she didn’t know. If Samara hadn’t been followed and they knew for sure Evie would have removed the bullet but she had to get her friend someplace safe first. Samara said this may have something to do with the Jenson job. Two people involved in that op were dead and now an attempt on Samara’s life. Samara said she had been in Orlando when she got the news about the last murderfrom someone in the op. She decided to come see Evie in person. She said she had tried calling Evie several times and only got voice mail. She had hoped Evie was ok. Evie headed to the last place she wanted to go. To the last man she wanted to see. Than Samara said you’re going to your ex Dylan? You think he’s gonna help you and your random friend? She told leo-Dylan’s head of security she needed to see Dylan, it was an emergency. The gates swung open within ten seconds. After the way things had ended between them, Evie kinda expected him to turn her away.Dylan was coming out the door as she pulled up. Evie said” my friend has been shot. I can’t call the police or go to the hospital. You have Finn Kelly on your payroll .” His expression was dark as he looked he over. She ignored the pang in her chest at the sight of him. She didn’t know what he was thinking but he opened the car door and helped Samara out and carried her inside. Dylan said he’d take the bullet out if he could. Finn - a doctor, was too far out but finn would stitch her up. Dylan had limited medical knowledge from his time in the Marines spent in too many war zones during his years in the military. Fylan got the bullet out and used Steri strips until Finn got there. Dylan gave Samara a glass of water and a couple tablets of codeine than carried her to a guest room so she could rest. Dylan asked Evie if she was in trouble and she said” maybe”. Samara had mentioned the Jenson job but that was long over. And Jenson had been killed in prison by another prisoner. She wasn’t sure what samara had been talking about. Especially since the Jenson job was why she and Dylan had been thrown together. Although he didn’t know that. But Dylan and Evie had fallen in love but it was based on a lie. Despite what Dylon thought Evie had a heart and it was for Dylan. They went to Dylan’s office to leave Finn with samara and Dylan said”I want you to tell me why you walked the hell out after I proposed.”
Excellent book. I loved it . this had so much to it: the CIA, FBI, DEA, treason, spies, set up ops, CIA ops, attempted murder, murder, an assasin, a greedy traitor, disguises, lies, a false start, a bombing, a brother set up for a murder, and so much more. I read this in one setting and gave up sleeping for the night as I couldn’t put this down. I had to see what was going to happen next. I told myself I would read up to sixty percent of the book and finish it the next day but I kept reading until I was done. I loved the ending. I loved the pace and plot. I loved Dylan and Evie together and how they interacted. I felt bad Evie broke Dylan’s heart but loved how he didn’t hesitate to help and protect her and Samara. I loved how Evie helped samara even before she knew what was happening. I happily found nothing to criticize in this book. I have a new favorite book. This book grabbed my attention from the first page and held it until the last page. I loved the danger intrigue, recon, and ops. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.
