I am a big fan of Sylvia Day’s books when she wrote her historical books. Her newest book did not surprise me with all the emotions and surprises of her previous books. I got my fix of Eve and Gideon Cross and my ever favorite guy, Cary. On the other hand, it has made me hunger for more. This story was a soulful and steamy romance about Garret and Teagan. At first, you did not know how the pieces come together. In Ms. Day’s style, she draws you in and hooks you in the end. It is a beautiful story but way too short. Left you craving for more. I highly recommend this story.

I was thrilled to see SDay was releasing something new and Butterfly in Frost didn't disappoint. It was riveting and emotional and surprising as well. SDay demonstrated her writing prowess, solidifying her spot as one of my favorite authors.

When we meet Teagan we can see she's suffering but we're not privy to all the details. She's made a fresh start in Seattle, has new friends and new routines. However, when she meets Garrett, he turns her newly ordered world on its head and it seems he's exactly what Teagan needed.

Garrett is also struggling emotionally...and professionally. Meeting Teagan injects the hope and passion his life seemed to be lacking. As we witness Garrett and Teagan get acquainted and see their relationship blossom, we learn about his past...what caused his broken pieces. But Teagan is still closed off. However, it was awe-inspiring to see these two help mend each other, want to be better for the other, work at getting better and being there for each other.

SDay surrounds our couple with good friends, even one we know from a previous series. She also brings to life the Seattle area with vivid descriptions of its sights and sounds. While only a novella, with Butterfly in Frost SDay delivers an emotionally charged and compelling story. I was wholly satisfied and I'm eager for more from her.

This book was a surprise for me,even thought I don't know what to expect, this wasn't where I thought the book was going. Butterfly in Frost took me on an emotionally charged ride, had me in tears but it was so very good. Garrett is a character you can fall in love with and his love for Teagan comes through in so many ways, you have to read this one.

It’s been quite some time since I’ve read one of Sylvia Day’s novels, so when I received a request from the publisher, via Net-Galley, to read and review, I immediately accepted. My opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.

Butterfly in Frost starts with the heroine walking dogs with her friend. When they come upon a runner, Teagan loses touch with her surroundings, to the point she stumbled in front of a car. The hero saved her, and she feels an immediate desire for him.

At first, I thought she recognized him due to her visceral reaction to him, but when no reference occurs where she has any internal thoughts to having met him before, I dismissed that feeling.

However, I remained confused throughout much of the story. When I finished reading the tale, I went back and reread it to see if I had missed something! I did not. What a spectacular surprise at the end!

Teagan’s character remained a mystery throughout much of the book. She had clearly suffered a tremendous loss at some point in her past, which has her battling depression daily. Although the story lends one to believe it was from the torrid affairs her ex-husband committed during their marriage, I sensed it must be deeper than that but could not figure out what it could be. This sense of something kept me glued to my Kindle, and I could not read fast enough!

The budding relationship between her and her new neighbor happens extremely fast, and turns tantalizingly sensual, solidifying my sense that there is more that I do not know, so I waited breathlessly for all to be revealed.

Garrett Frost is an intriguing hero. Early on, it’s revealed that he’s suffered the devastating loss of his family. This causes a few difficult issues since he’s with Teagan most of the time when their neighbor, Roxanne stops by, who is Teagan’s best friend.

The chemistry between Teagan and Garrett is combustible from their first encounter. I loved the intensity of their attraction, while I confused by it at the same time. It kept me enmeshed, almost entranced, through the entire story! This is indicative of Ms. Day’s writing style, and what I’ve come to expect, when reading one of her novels. I’m a huge fan, and I have read many of her intriguing books.

If you enjoy a romance that is compelling with complex characters and a plot which unfolds tantalizingly slow, then you will enjoy Butterfly in Frost as much as I. Beware, although you will want to read this tale fast, read carefully to fully absorb the full impact. Happy reading!

Butterfly in Frost is a standalone contemporary romance set in beautiful Washington State, where Teagan and Garret find each other and embark on a steamy lust-filled affair that soon turns out to be more than they expected. This novella is a wonderful comeback from Ms. Day with an unexpected twist at the end. To say more would probably ruin the whole impact of the book but one thing is for sure, Teagan and Garrett's story is one of those romances that would be very hard to forget. Ms. Day excels in writing romances filled with intense emotions be it lust or love, this is no exception. Here she is able to craft a story as ethereal as the title describes, a butterfly in frost.

It's been quite a few years since we had a new release from Sylvia Day and as a huge fan of the Crossfire series I was excited to get my hands on a copy of this novella. Butterfly in Frost may be a short read (coming in at just under 200 pages) but it was an enjoyable one, the kind of story you can devour in one sitting when you're spending a relaxed afternoon reading.

Teagan is a doctor who used to be married to a famous actor and star in her own reality TV show but after her divorce she left New York behind and chose to lead a much quieter life in Seattle. It's obvious she is suffering from depression and she has closed in on herself only interacting with a very small group of people and avoiding leaving her house as much as possible. Her world is turned upside down by the arrival of a new neighbour though, the connection she feels to Garrett is immediate and fierce but he's struggling with his own issues and she's not sure whether either of them is ready for a relationship.

I'm not going to say much more than that about the plot so you'll just have to read the book for yourself. I was a bit wary after Teagan and Garrett's first meeting, the attraction felt too instant and I thought we were going to have a very rushed romance between them but although the sparks are flying they actually spend a long time getting to know each other before diving into anything serious which I really appreciated. Garrett was more willing to open up about his past than Teagan but I thought Sylvia Day did a good job of showing the ups and downs of living with depression, how one small thing can tip you over the edge and make it impossible to even find the energy to get out of bed. The thing I loved most was the twist at the end of the story, I did actually have an inking that was where things were headed but it fitted the characters perfectly and was extremely well written.

Personally I could have done without the mentions of Eva and Gideon, as much as I loved their series I don't think there was any need for them to crop up in this story and they were literally mentioned on page 2 and multiple times after. In my opinion it would have been better to leave them out of it but luckily they didn't overtake the whole story so it could have been worse. Overall I really enjoyed Butterfly in Frost, the romance was both sweet and sexy, the characters had a great connection and took the time to get to know each other before starting a relationship and the love story was believable. Let's hope we won't have to wait quite so long for Sylvia Day's next book but if it's as good as this one it'll be worth it even if we do.

OMG… Raw, heart wrenching, emotion punch, BUTTERFLY IN FROST packs up a huge and colorful trichotomy of feelings: ocean deep sadness, soul warming joy and primal, ‘cell ingrained’ attraction! True literary personification of hope, passion and EPIC LOVE!

I’ll keep this review on the very short side as to avoid spoilers of any kind, because this book, my god, it’s ALL about the journey, the full on impact of emotions and events can only be obtained by going blind and experiencing every feeling first hand. Grief, pain, joy, hope, desire and soul deep attraction, we truly go through them all while emerged in Ms. Day’s new gem. That’s how powerful it is.

It is without a doubt one of my favorite reads this year, and with such raving statements you may ask why not the full 5 stars, and I’ll just point out that the ending though visibly an HEA, it left me wanting, because I wanted to witness first hand this HEA, with everything that entailed, I am a assumed epilogue wh@re after all. This epilogue is very characteristic of Sylvia Day, as we are used to from her other work, and very satisfying, but after these two’s history, and love story, I wanted a full on HEA with all the bells and whistles, lol. Nonetheless, it’s still one of the most beautiful love stories I’ve ever read. A true punch of joy to my romantic heart!

I can say that very few times I’ve felt this level of blood deep, instintual, eternal soul mate connection that emanated from Garrett and Teagan. A true EPIC LOVE story that I’ve inhaled in one sitting and left craving and begging for even more. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Ms. Day doesn’t disappoint in this heartbreaking story of love, loss and resilience.

Dr. Teagan Ransom loves the quaint life she built for herself. She left her practice in New York for a much simpler life. All is well until she returns home from a business trip to discover that her neighbors up and sold their house. The new guy next door stirs up too many old dormant emotions.

Garrett Frost has lost his family. He is barely hanging on these days. When he gets the opportunity to feel alive, he goes full throttle. It doesn’t matter that Teagan is wary. He has to show her that while they are broken they are not lost. Garrett’s story is sad and his pain in shown throughout the entire story. While Teagan is struggling with some demons of her own.

The chemistry between Garrett and Teagan was off the charts. They lit up the pages. Their love scenes are intense and spicy. Garrett holds nothing back and Teagan lets loose when it comes to him. Once they exploded in the bedroom, that chemistry moved into their emotional life. Of course, Day delivers on her captivating writing style with hidden currencies of lies and secrets. I just wanted to know what was going on.

I loved this story for what it truly was. It took a moment after reading it to fully appreciate it because part of the story feels left undone but complete at the same time. Just as everything

unfolds, it closes out. Sure, the author leaves room for guest appearances in other books or cross over series but a part of me was just consuming the twist. There could have been another chapter just to flush that out. There is so much to say but this is a novella and I just can’t spoil any of the details for that last little moment.

This book did have tons of twists but I felt they could have been more development to it. It felt a bit rushed.

BUTTERFLY IN FROST is a new novella from Sylvia Day that crosses over ever so slightly into her beloved Crossfire series. It's a tad secretive, but riveting enough to have you turning page after page to unravel more.

Teagan appears to be a woman recovering from something in her life. She's had great success, but something changed for her and she's slowly bringing herself out of a depression. She's attention grabbing on the pages, but her past is left blank.

Garrett appears to be just a guy who moves in next door who immediately causes excitement and unexpected sexual attraction to flare. He slowly opens up about a loss that he's experienced that changed his way of living. We watch as attraction flares into a whirlwind of lust and emotion.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes an emotional depiction of life moving forward after trauma. It's emotional, with tidbits of fun thrown into the mix. It eventually culminates into a huge twist that we didn't see coming ... and as it all plays out, we're left with unanswered questions of why and how.

Butterfly in Frost is Sylvia Day’s comeback novel. Though it’s a short book, I’m excited to see what’s in store for her since Crossfire series.

The story is about Dr. Teagan Ransom, a cosmetic surgeon and she’s divorced from her husband. Being brokenhearted led her to depression and she isn’t ready to fall in love again. When a new guy moves in their neighborhood, it shook Teagan and she never thought she’ll find someone whom she can connect with. Garrett Frost is an enigma. A mysterious, hot painter who’s quite arrogant at first but damn.. the guy is sexy!

I don’t want to give much away what happened in the book. The best part was the plot twist on the last chapter. It never crossed my mind THAT happened. I was too engrossed with the premised and I have to backtrack if I missed something. I think Ms. Sylvia Day is evil laughing right now as she fooled us. That was well played.

It has been some time since I have read a story by this author so when I saw a new book was coming out I had to jump at the chance to read it, and I am so glad I did! This was a whirlwind romance that I won't soon forget and I would give it a 4 stars and highly recommend to others. I loved that a little Crossfire love was put into this story as well! The beautifully written story for sure!

Teagan is trying to find her way in the new life she created and when a handsome man- Garrett moves in next door she is worried her life will take a tail spin she is not ready for, and oh how right she was, but this time will she be able to handle the storm that is brewing inside with out falling to pieces and finally find her peace? Or will Garrett finally be what "breaks the camels back"?

Get to one clicking you don't wanna miss out and the ending ohhh it was soo unexpected but will bring the story full circle!

Wow! I don't even know where to start with this one...

My heart has shattered and was slowly pieced together in this new, exquisite story by Sylvia Day.

Dr. Teagan Ransom has created a new life. One she is happy with: a renovated house, new friends, busy job. She is content in her quiet existence, even with her neighbor Roxy trying to get her to go out. But she's also letting her past hold her back.

Garrett Frost is the hot new artist neighbor who also has a tragic past. But Garret and Teagan are like two side of the same coin. Their attraction is palpable.

As Garrett and Teagan go for a relationship, Garrett finds himself, once again, creating art and Teagan is slowly starting to succumb to her depression. But Garrett isn't leaving and he will fight for her... for them.

This story is heartbreaking beautiful that you won't know what happens until it hits you. Definitely one-click now.

This book blew me away! I read the Crossfire Series and wasn't sure how this one would measure up to that. It did and so much more. I loved Teagan. She is a real person who is dealing with her own demons, and along comes Garrett and pulls the carpet right out from under her. She's broken, but so is he. She is alone, but maybe with him, she doesn't have to be any longer.

Butterfly in Frost will pull you in instantly and you won't be able to stop until you reach the end. There were a few surprises I didn't expect, and I had to pull out the tissues a couple of times, but wow! The book has characters that are relatable, a plot that is believable, and it is written in a way that you will become engrossed before you know it. It's a beautiful and fantastic story that you do not want to miss. 5 stars and I suggest one clicking today!

I rarely give 5 star reviews, but this book deserved it for sure! Teagan doesn't like that the very sexy Garrett moved in next door. Garrett is dealing with the tragedy in his life, and Teagan has enough of her own problems. Will their tangled lives bring them together?

I loved this story. I never would have been able to predict where it would go. Such an interesting story. ..

Teagan may have a successful career but inside she is broken. She needs a fresh start and against the advice of her friends what she really craves is to be left alone but her new neighbor isn’t getting the message.

Garrett is damaged in his own way and he senses a kindred soul in Teagan. He knows that she would rather be alone, but he is unable to stay away.

There is no denying the heat and chemistry between them, but it is emotional part of this story that draws you in. Well that and a twist that will take you by surprise.

This is a hard review to write. But not for the reason you might be thinking. This book wasn’t poorly written, and it didn’t have a plot full of holes. It wasn’t anything like that. It’s a hard review to write because I would be doing a disservice to readers if I told you too much. You need to go on this journey on your own.

I had so many questions floating around in my head while reading. I thought maybe I was missing something, or maybe I just wasn’t getting it. But holy hell, I got ALL the answers. And then I was left stunned. I just sat there for a while thinking about it all. I was shattered, but I also had a sense of peace. Or the starting of something that felt like peace for the characters.

I’m being very vague, when all I want to do to is spill my thoughts in their entirety into this review. Just know that every word was beautifully written, and if you find yourself scratching your head, trying to figure out where the story is going, have faith. Sylvia Day created a book that will bring you to your knees.

Sylvia Day returns to the world of her Crossfire series with an intriguing, emotional and downright unforgettable love story — Butterfly in Frost. I was hooked from the first page and didn’t put it down until the last, and I was immediately ready to read it again, which is exactly what Day intends. She writes her books with the intention that they are read twice, and I promise you’ll want to pick up Butterfly in Frost again and again to soak up every nuance of this complex romance.

It was my pleasure to read BUTTERFLY IN FROST by SYLVIA DAY. I haven’t read a book by Ms. Day in a number of years and I found myself quickly drawn into the story of Teagan, Roxy & Mike, and Garrett!
The passion in this novel is palpable from the moment Garrett runs onto the page! The only question is how long that passion will remain unfulfilled! Teagan and Garrett burn mystifyingly hot and the flames just get higher as they learn about each other. I wouldn’t consider this novel erotic in nature, but the sex scenes are very steamy!
I am always amazed when an author catches me completely unaware when I get through a book. Ms. Day had me looking for one ending and then wowed me with something that was so completely unexpected that I had to go back and reread the end of the book several times to really let it sink in! I was totally blindsided to say the least!
BUTTERFLY IN FROST by SYLVIA DAY is a book that I will keep and read over again, more than just once! I will definitely be watching for more of the same style from Ms. Day in the future as this really resonated with me!
I very definitely recommend BUTTERFLY IN FROST by SYLVIA DAY and give it five beautiful gold stars!

Butterfly in Frost is Sylvia Day’s long-awaited return to publishing, and I’m going to be honest with you. I had no intention of ever picking up another book by this author. The first two books in her Crossfire series are favorites of mine, but with the runaround we got about publishing dates and then the way the series fell apart, I thought I was done with her. I should have known better. When an invitation to read this showed up in my inbox, I couldn’t resist. And for good reason - if you’ve read this author, you don’t need me to tell you that she writes one hell of a sex scene; you don’t need me to remind you that her descriptions, even with the most insignificant of items, are always so lush and gorgeous. There’s no denying that she’s a master at her craft. Having said that...this book didn’t quite do it for me. And I’ll tell you why.

This entire book is building up to a twist at the end that is just not feasible from a first person point of view. And once I read it, it was clear to me that this story wasn’t about the plot at hand at all, but about building up to this one moment that I couldn’t even buy. But before that, at the very beginning, when Teagan first sees Garrett...damn! I swear it was as good as Eva and Gideon’s first meeting. (From Bared to You, if you’re not familiar with them.) And I loved Eva and Gideon’s first meeting. But that was it...after that, Garrett was way too much of an ass for me to ever warm up to him, and the way he pushed himself into Teagan’s life felt a bit uncomfortable for me. It was like she took Gideon’s persistence and put it on crack. And I just didn’t care for it. As for Teagan, I get what the author was trying to do; Teagan was in a major depression and while I felt for her, I just didn’t want to read about her. Between her issues and Garrett’s, everything felt very unhealthy and forced, and like I mentioned earlier, I had a hard time buying the progression of their relationship. When it comes to Garrett, I hate to say it, but he’s so ten years ago. It’s almost like the market has grown and changed, but the author’s writing hasn’t. At least not yet. But, here we go again, because even though I claimed I was giving up on this author, I can’t. I’m too weak. And even though this story didn’t work for me, I was reminded of the magic that Sylvia Day can create; this book had me itching to read Bared to You and Reflected in You again, because I saw that spark that I love from her. She is a damn good writer, and I do find her stories to be irresistible. Even with all my issues with this one, I didn’t want to put it down. So I’ll finish this review by saying that if you loved Crossfire all the way to the end and are a die hard Sylvia Day fan, I think you’re going to love Butterfly in Frost.

From the first meeting of Garret Frost I was curious at what would cause a man to think he should act like he does. He approaches his neighbor in a more than neighborly way and I was so confused. Then things start to come together. I started figuring things out and loving how he was dating his neighbor. He was sweet, he was attentive, and he was winning me over. Then the ending happened, WOW!, I realized how clueless I really was. The twist at the end was perfect.

This is my first Sylvia Day book. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I loved the cover, loved the synopsis, so I thought I would give her a chance. I am so very thankful that I did. I started the book wondering what I was reading. I kept turning pages learning more about the characters and loving them together. The ending is what really got me. I had no clue, not even an inkling of where this story was going to end. I am now a fan of Sylvia Day’s. I am excited to read more of her work.

Butterfly in Frost was an emotional read that deals with love, loss, and trying to put your life back together after your world has been broken.

What an interesting read this one was. This story deals with two people who are struggling and trying to recover from events in their past and find that the strength they each need to cope and heal can be found in one another. From the moment Garrett runs into Teagan – and that would be literally, there is no doubt that there is something between these two. Although Teagan is resistant to let Garrett in, I loved how he knew just how hard to push – with an almost gentle persistence – to let Teagan know he wasn’t going anywhere and there was no sense denying what they both felt was between them. Teagan is so concerned with not being enough for Garrett, not being able to help him through his low times, and I love how this story unfolded to show the strength that both Teagan and Garrett gave to each other.

I felt the entire time reading this one that there was something else to be discovered, and although I didn’t pick up on what it was until it was revealed, it definitely tied the whole story together for me. My only complaint would be the length – so often with novellas the story seems a bit rushed, and this one just drops you in and takes off and, although there was quite a bit of emotional depth, I would have loved just a little bit more to the story to get to know the characters just a bit more before they came together.

This is my first story by Sylvia Day and I enjoyed her voice and writing style. I loved the way she dealt with relationships, not just between Garrett and Teagan, but also the friendship between Teagan and Roxie, which had such an authentic feel to it. The content was a bit heavy and emotional and Day was able to put those feeling to words on the page. Not the lightest of reads, but one to pick up if you are looking for a deeply emotional quick read.

Confession time: It’s been years since I read a Sylvia Day book. But this blurb was so intriguing, I couldn’t resist. And boy did it take me on an emotional roller coaster ride!

Teagan is finally in a comfortable place when Garrett literally plows into her life. Their relationship highlights the precarious emotional ride that is depression.

This book hit me with all kinds of feelings. And the twist at the end was NOT one I saw coming.
