I have been putting this book off for so long and I have absolutely no idea why. I selected this book as one of my 22 in 22 to ensure that I read it this year

Why on earth I’ve been putting it off, I am so unsure. I absolutely loved it!

My plans were cancelled today… meaning I had an unexpected “chill” day and I have spent the majority of the mid afternoon on the sofa reading this

I was so hooked. It’s so hard to write a review on the storyline, as I feel it would spoil the actual book for any future readers

The book is domestic noir at its best.

The only thing that I absolutely loved about this book was the originality of the layout. Once I was a third through the book, the book ended and told me to turn the book round for a different perspective. I absolutely loved that.

Trying not to spoil anything: I am so glad that an author has acknowledged that men can be the victim and it is okay to speak out.

The book was extremely compelling and I hope the author writes more psychological / domestic thrillers

A good read, which kept my attention throughout. I would recommend this as a good holiday reading book. Very enjoyable.

I hugely enjoyed this very dark psychological thriller about the wife / daughter in law from hell. A gripping, fast paced novel with excellent, plausible characters and a great story. Hard to put down - really good.

Nothing is as it seems from the very beginning of this thrilling read. Imagine dealing with domestic abuse, and the emotional toll it takes on you, except you are a man. You can't get emotional... This was brilliant read, and recommended for anyone who likes a good solid read. Recommended.

Ben has just split up with long-term girlfriend Charlie when he meets beautiful Bella. Very quickly, Bella is pregnant, and marriage swiftly follows. Ben should be happy, but everyone around him can see that something isn’t quite right. After Elodie is born and Ben becomes a stay-at-home dad, they stage an intervention, with tragic consequences.
Reviewing this novel is a bit tricky. The writing is undoubtedly accomplished, the twist is very good (it comes about half way through), and I did want to know what happened to Ben. But I immediately felt irritated by Ben’s family – superficial, privileged, ridiculously well off, especially unambitious mum Jo, who was so sappy. But of course she is very well-preserved for a middle-aged woman, slim, well-groomed, beautiful, as is everyone in this novel. And Ben’s beautiful (but not perfectly beautiful) midwife friend lives in a converted period flat in central London (really?).
Bella is so one-dimensional, a scorned woman out for revenge. There is no attempt to explain her background, or why she is how she is. She could have been so interesting and complex - a real missed opportunity.
And of course, Bella, as the woman, takes the blame for the circumstances that got everyone to this point, while the man involved is forgiven.
Disappointing, and, given the theme, insensitive too.

I really enjoyed this book and would read more from this author. May have been first but won't he the last.

DNF - really couldn’t get into this one. I thought the premise was really good but I struggled to feel invested. I didn’t like the characters and felt it was a plot that had been done numerous times before.

Despite the repeats of the story from different characters perspectives I still enjoyed this book and wanted to read the book to the end as I needed to know what happened
Bella is beautiful and Ben and on meeting her he falls for her hard and she moves in the same night within weeks she’s pregnant and they get married.
Ben then starts to see a different side to Bella, Bella is evil, manipulative, scary and is one of the nastiest characters ever, Her own mum is scared of her and as Ben finds out with good reason.
Bella is out for revenge but why? I will let you read this yourself to find out

This one is a book

It's quite an easy read with a few twists and turns that are predictable if you read a lot in this genre but was still really well laid out and enjoyable to read. I like that it takes something that is normally written to happen to women, and made it happen the other way round (hopefully that makes sense I dont want to use spoilers) and I think it does it in a way that raises awareness but also makes the story stand out from others similar.
The writing was quite simple so it was really quick and easy to read and is set is shorter paragraphs so you can pick it up easily. I do feel like there could have been more descriptive bits and more character development as at one point certain things seem a bit out of the blue. But I love that it was told in different perspectives and dont think the less descriptive bits took away from anything!

Brilliant read, really enjoyed it and read it far too quickly!! Main characters are Ben and Bella who fall into a relationship very quickly!! Bella is a vile character constantly scheming and manipulating the situation. Thanks Netgalley for letting me review this book.

Didn't really like this book. It feels like a lot of other mystery thrillers which are coming out these days. Very meh.

Loved this book, very easy to get into the intriguing story of Ben and Bella and her continuous lies, deception and abuse.
It was a bit repetitive and predictable at times, but still it was a great read, I couldn’t put it down.

An interesting if a ;little predictable as a read. Told from two perspectives, it was well plotted but hard to like one of the main characters.

A chilling thriller about a normal family who ends up regretting the introduction Of Freya into the family. Twisted games and copious lies follow and things become sinister. I for one ,didn't envisage the ending ...
Personally I didn't find this book to my personal taste. It was easy reading and not at all confusing but I was able tor pre-empt what was going to happen and I.felt like the author could have explored the Characters a lot more.
All said and done I realised although an OK book I would have liked a lot more intrigue and suspense #She #NetGalley #goodreads
