I enjoyed this book, felt the characters were believable and my feelings towards them changed at times throughout the book. It kept my interest and stirred different emotions towards each incident that happened. I did feel it ended a bit short/fast. I personally needed Karen to stand up to Nick and not just leave behind his back. I felt there was a few unanswered questions and unfinished business as such. However I did enjoy reading this book.

A big yes to this. Kept me on the edge of my seat and didn't let go until the very end. A great voice in contemporary thriller writing.

The book started off well & I liked the darkness of the main characters with the contrast of the idyllic country life but unfortunately I found the storyline to be very slow with a lot of characters around. The ending left me thoroughly disappointed.

I did enjoy this book as this isnt my usual genre or style but I enjoyed it. I do normally read none stop for a couple of hours a day but I did break kore often with this read.
The main character has had a mental breakdown and her and her husband move to an idyllic location after the busy life in London.
The neighbour is a pretty girl and she doesnt like her but who would when the husband is so nice to her.
Thank you to the publishers and netgalley.

From the cover and original synopsis of this book I thought it would be a thriller, but it turns out it's more of an examination of a relationship after some kind of event (you don’t find out what this was for a while), reading as a family drama. The characters are interesting & in most cases fleshed out enough that you feel like you know them, and you’re given just enough information as you go along to make your own decisions about who you’re rooting for and what you want to happen.

I’d definitely recommend this one to anyone who likes a good, slow burning relationship drama.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

An excellent novel, very poignant and highlights modern topics based around two main characters that can affect anyone. The story line is slightly different to what I was expecting and will have you page turning as quickly as you can! Thoroughly enjoyed the book from start to finish and will be looking out for more from Ms Everett.

This book wasn’t what I really expected and there were some events that happened that I felt were left unexplained. The author described the new village and community well and I could really see the houses and countryside in my imagination. Otherwise I felt the story didn’t really go anywhere expect for Karen’s realisations of what she actually wanted. An enjoyable read but not what I expected.

this is a very interesting premise that follows the relationship troubles and issues between two people. it provides a tense atmosphere and is easily readable.

A very well written story where nothing ever happens. There's so much promising foreshadowing and an unreliable narrator, but threads are left hanging, questions left unanswered and hints of a promising thriller left unexplored.
It was actually a 3 star book until the end, but the mix of unresolved or unexplored plot points and the 'Is that it?' Incredulity at the conclusion lost it a star.

This is a domestic drama about a married couple moving to a sleepy hamlet after the husbands infidelities and his wife's subsequent breakdown. Not a lot happens but well defined and interesting characters made this an enjoyable read.

Karen has packed up her life and is making The Move. She’s on her way to the idyllic country cottage which her husband has painstakingly renovated for her. They’re escaping the London bustle and the daily grind. And they’re escaping their past.

A fresh start in a beautiful, peaceful village. It will be different here, right?

But something is awry. The landscape, breathtaking by day, is eerie by night. The longed-for peace and solitude is stifling. And the house, so artfully put together by her husband, has a strange vibe. Now that Karen is cut off from her old friends and family, she can’t help wondering if her husband has plans of his own, and that history might be repeating itself.

A novel about the great lengths that someone will go to to get their own way. I found myself fully immersed in the life of Karen and her stumbling blindly forward until the light bulb moment. Not to spoil the ending but I found myself shouting at the pages willing Karen to see sense.

More laughing and crying than was probably necessary but thoroughly loved this book and am happy to recommend.

An average read.

Sounding like a thriller, this most certainly is not. It’s more of an observation of happenings, little plot and sadly doesn’t seem to go anywhere. On the other hand, it’s very well written! There are stronger books available at the moment that are character driven style, so unfortunately this just didn’t do it for me

Interesting and enjoyable , enjoyed this book although I felt at times there was no definitive plot . The characters were interesting and believable.

The Move by Felicity Everett was an unsettling, gripping read. It’s clear from the start that Karen’s on the back-foot somehow of this massive life change. Somehow I never doubted her sanity or clarity in favour of her husband but, to be fair, the tale could have easily exposed a different reality. I found the book gripping and was reluctant to put it down yet so many rich avenues were left unexplored. The “before” is sketchy and it would have been nice (even in flashback or with a dual storyline) to get more of a sense of how things had been. Cath’s part, I felt, could have been further developed to add more depth to analysis of the lives in the hamlet (and thereby to introduce some red herrings??) The destruction early on isn’t really addressed. Why would someone leave a dead bird in the studio? I suppose all of the above leave room for doubt about Karen’s grip on reality and Nick’s complicity etc. Overall I think it was a really good read but just could be polished a little to build more tension and suspicion and to round everything off.

Karen and Nick moved to a cottage in an idyllic village to get away from the hustle of London. Karen is still recovering from a mental breakdown. They are also trying to fix their marriage. They start making ew friends with the neighbours. It's not to long before Karen becomes suspicious of Nick.

The story is beautifully written with fantastic details and descriptions. But there seemed to be no actual plotline. We learn of Karenand Nick's relationship and why Karen had her breakdown. Some of the story will be relatable to some readers. This wasnt the psychological thriller I thought it would be, it's more domestic drama. I kept waiting for the big twist but it never came. The ending felt a it flat.

I would like to thank NetGalley, HQ and the author Felicity Everatt for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Can you paint over the cracks in a marriage?

This book tells the story of Karen and Nick, making a fresh start by moving away from London to a beautiful new house in the country, the reason why isn't clear to begin with but as the story evolves it all starts to make sense. It's a very well written book and is very descriptive which makes it a bit of a slow burner, but it wasn't the psychological thriller I expected it to be, I would say more family drama. I didn't really connect with any of the characters and the ending was very abrupt, which is why I've only given it three stars.

I'd like to thank HQ and Netgalley for the approval and I will post my review on Amazon and Goodreads.

A sincere thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for providing me an ebook copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. I enjoyed this story very much and felt like I knew each character personally due to the description of them. I enjoyed the storyline. This is not my usual genre but in this instance I am extremely pleased and grateful for opening up my mind to something totally different. Thanks again.

I love a bit of domestic-noir and, having really enjoyed Felicity Everett’s previous book, The People at Number 9, I was very keen to read this one.

Married couple Nick and Karen have upped sticks from London home for a peaceful new life in the country. It quickly becomes obvious that the move is partly as a result of some previous misdemeanour on Nick’s part, and he is desperately trying to make amends to Karen, including building her a state of the art studio in the garden so that she can continue her career as a potter. As the book progresses Nick’s controlling and manipulative character becomes more obvious and it becomes hard to believe that the cracks in their marriage can ever be repaired.

This isn’t a typical psychological thriller with twists and turns; it’s an observant, character-led novel. Nick could easily have been portrayed as a bit of a pantomime villain but I thought that the slow and sinister way he controlled Karen was well observed and believable. Overall I found The Move engaging, believable and intriguing and I look forward to reading Felicity’s next novel.

It didn’t take long to get into this book, it was a really easy read and I found that I really enjoyed the characters, even the smaller ones.
My only downfall for this book is that there didn’t seem to be a clear plot and the ending seemed rushed and disappointing, I expected something really big to happen. I feel like there’s no suspense or thrill that I was expecting so the story presented as one-note.
