As a huge fan of practicing yoga I found this book incredibly informative. For this that have a regular practice at a studio or gym, or home, will recognize many of the postures and positions. I have never added meditation to many of these, or combined some of these movements together, but it makes for an entirely new experience in my yoga practice now that I have tried it. I’m grateful to have been able to read this book and will be adding much of this to my regular practice.

This book was very detailed and in-depth. I found it an interesting read and helpful as I am newer to yoga it gave me some helpful insight to add to my yoga practice. If you are an advanced yogi you may not get much out of this book.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishing house for the advance copy of this book.

Rishi Yoga is the ideal introduction to the discipline and has a lot of in-depth information and basics for beginners to be able to learn the ropes with ease. This is an accessible, easy to follow and solid book which also helpfully features photographs and images to direct the reader in a simplified manner. Pierre Bonnasse is not an author I have come across before despite reading quite a bit from the self-help/non-fiction/meditation type genres, but I feel the background of a non-fiction writer, regardless of the field they are in or are writing about, can give valuable insight into how much they know or are interested in said topic, which is really quite important to me. so what makes Bonnasses's words worth trusting you ask? This is a particularly important question in an area of the book market which is literally saturated with very similar guides targeted towards those looking to dip their toe in the fountain of youth and/or increasing and maintaining their mental health status.

With regards to his knowledge of yoga and other spiritual endeavours, Bonnasse, it appears, has studied under the expert guidance of a variety of different spiritual masters for more than twenty years in all. He also has a substantial back catalogue of books he has penned exploring spiritual matters which have helped many people gain an understanding of how to practice yoga, the benefits and has continued to try to spread the word into the mainstream as much as possible. His dedication and need to spread the word culminated in him co-founding the Rishi Yoga Shala School, which offers yoga training programs in India and France where he lives. The book is divided into three parts: basics, exploration and reflection and discusses central concepts such as simple poses and movements, asana, breathing exercises and meditation. An insightful, comprehensive and trustworthy source for those looking for all they need to know to get started. Many thanks to Inner Traditions for an ARC.

I recieved a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from Net galley. Unfortunately throughout the text - even in the middle of sentences there is pasted FOR REVIEW ONLY. it makes it extremely hard to read enjoyably, so much so i gave up after a few pages in. This may be a good book, but as it stands, I wouldn't know, and I have not been convinced to buy a copy.

This handy little book is like a distillation of all the important nuggets of yoga knowledge, practice and theory into their essences, removing all the noise and nonsense to get right at the heart of things. The book covers meditation, asana, Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, and philosophy, but in short, to-the-point chapters that are easy to read and follow. Very well done.

This is pretty good, especially for those that don't know much about yoga. For experienced practitioners, you may pick up some tidbits, but may not be worth your time. There are some good instructions, but at about 50 steps you either have to have a great memory or be ready to have this nearby. Some helpful photos are included. I suspect there are better yoga-related books out there. This one has solid info but should not be your only starting point, not your only yoga book.

I really appreciate the advanced copy for review!!

A well written treatise on this form of yoga that gives the reader a thorough understanding of complex material in a clear way. Providing the philosophical roots grounds the reader regarding the why so as to better understand the how.

A very insightful and well researched book introducing Rishi Yoga to the reader.

The book is divided into three parts:basics, exploration and reflection.

Rishi Yoga Meditation includes easy poses and movements, combined with breathing exercises.

Asana, breathing exercises and meditation are explained clearly, however I would have loved more pictures in the first chapter to complement the written part or some audio links could have been provided.

Overall a good and researched book.
As a yogi and and even if I was already familiar with several concepts in the book, I enjoyed it.

This is an interesting and very thorough book. It includes so much information and the author has done his best to present it in a book. However it would benefit immensely from some guided meditation/ visualization downloads. It is hard to read and feel and do at the same time. The pictures are useful but I think a few more would have been helpful. This book is very good though and the author writes eloquently without too much padding. He seems extremely knowledgeable and this form of Yoga is very relevant to todays hectic life. Overall a great book.
