I’ll be the first to admit that I’m almost always an MC or Mafia type of reader and throw in an Elite Forces’ book...Cristin Harber for example...and I’m in my element. I don’t mind a lighter read, I just don’t gravitate toward those books...until I read Penelope Bloom’s “His Banana” and I was hooked! Oh my word, Ms. Bloom’s stories are priceless! “Anyone But Rich” is a perfect start to a new series...thankfully she’s giving us the brother’s stories too! Rich and Kira, his brothers and her best friends, have a twisted up history that turns into a crazy present with laugh out loud situations...seriously, I was literally laughing throughout this book! Ms. Bloom has done it again, she’s given us a sweet, very sexy and totally hilarious read! Can’t wait to read the rest of the fabulous series! |

I love the writing of Penelope Bloom. This book is no exception. Mir, Iris, a d Miranda have been friends since school, and as young adults, they promise to stay clear of the King brothers. Seven years later, the King brothers one back to their hometown, and the girls are reminded of their promise. But love has found a way. This book was funny, sad, sarcastic and full of love. I absolutely loved the ending. |
3.5* This was one of those books where you know how it was going to end but the journey to get there was entertaining. Kira and her friends have made a pact to not date the King brothers, seven years later the brothers return and Kira has trouble sticking to her promise. Rich and Kira were sweet together and she never stood a chance. Rich's brother Cade was hilarious and I can't wait to read his book. Kira's best friends were also entertaining. The parents in this book left a lot to be desired and it was satisfying that Rich's parents did not get their way. Thank you to NetGalley for the copy. |

This is the first book I have read from this author which I enjoyed. From the beginning you could tell of the great friendship that Kira had with Iris and Miranda. It was a quick read that had some really funny parts from the King Brothers which had me laughing out loud. I loved the attraction that Kira and Rich had worn each other that just couldn't be ignored as much as they tried! Overall a great read and I'm looking Looking forward to the rest of the series. |

I really enjoyed this book. We meet Kira, Miranda and Iris who have been friends forever and made a pact in HS to never date the King brothers. These brothers will now be in their lives as they all 3 move back home and have kept lingering feelings for these ladies. This book focuses on the story of Kira and Rich, how he tries to apologies and insert himself in Kira's life. This book evolved nicely, I would have liked more details about the main issue and why the pact was made in the first place, but perhaps we'll get more information with the following books, as this book is part of an (hopefully ongoing) series. This was a quick and cute read. |
This was my first Penelope Bloom book and I enjoyed it. I found myself laughing out loud at the King Brothers antics. I also found myself flipping the pages to get to the end. It was very entertaining. What happened in high school has lingered between Rich and Kira. Rich wants to apologize but Kira isn’t having it. But the more these two are together the more emotions are felt and these two end up falling in love. But there are some people who don’t want this couple together. But these two fight it out against the odds. I’m looking forward to the other brothers books and can’t wait to see this gang all together again. *I was given a free copy of this book by Net Galley in exchange for my honest and voluntary review.* |
Anyone But Rich by Penelope Bloom is the first book in the Anyone But series. This fun, sexy, and hilarious romance story has a great mix of humor, a bit of angst, drama, blackmail, forgiveness, suspense, and meddling parents. I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book. |
Anyone But Rich by Penelope Bloom As a brilliant writer Penelope Bloom has created a new niche in Romance with her unique brand of humor. It’s Rom-com in a book! Anyone but Rich, is the first in a new trilogy dealing with the King brothers. We meet Rich, Cade and Nick as they come home after being gone for several years. While gone they made their mark on the Silicon Valley, are mega rich, gorgeous and famous. But, they want to head back to their roots. Back in West Valley, a small rural town in North Carolina 3 best friends Nicole, Miranda and Iris were once again making a pledge after the first one seven years ago, to not date a King. But, that’s easier said than done, because Rich is on the way to apologize for what he did seven years ago to Nicole. Along with that comes conspiracy’s, cover-ups, blackmail and the most hilarious bantering that will have you laughing out loud. The storyline is well plotted, the suspense will hold you and you won’t be able to put the book down. Each character is defined and bring their own wackiness and unsuspected surprises. I absolutely enjoyed this book and look forward to the next two! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #Netgalley |
I received and ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. I really like Kira and her friends. They had me laughing out loud at certain parts. Reminds me of my friends. I also loved the King brothers and their relationships. I like how Rich went after what he wanted and as much as Kira tried to resist she couldn't!! Great read I cannot wait for whats next here. |
Kira Miranda and iris is best friend in school. They all have seacret crunch of the Kings brothers. Kira even dated one of them to get another brother Rich to notice her but without any luck. The three made a deal to never get involved with the brother's agin. Seven years later the brother's are back in town they are billionaires and very powerful. Rich haven't forgotten Kira and he wants her but she is not interested or is she ? And his parents does not approve kira. Is there hope for the two of them or is he two late. A fantastic book I loved the three friends and the brother's they made me laugh. It was exiting and funny and I loved every single minute of it |

Anyone But Rich is the first book in a new series by Penelope Bloom. Bloom has written many other books, but this was the first I had read by her. The publisher marketing calls it "romantic, sexy, and hilarious" and Bloom did not disappoint. I loved the King brothers. They are quirky and full of personality and the scenes with Rich and his twin were hilarious. The writing was well done and the story line was interesting. The only thing I didn't like was Iris. She was the epitome of a bad friend. I didn't like the way she disrespected Miranda and Kira throughout the book and I didn't find any redeeming qualities in her character even at the end. As we say in the south, that girl needs a "come to Jesus meeting". I know that she will end up with her own book and I hope that it reveals more about her attitude and gives her some redeeming qualities. Other than Iris's character, I enjoyed the book and recommend it to readers who like a little bit of quirky fun included in their billionaire romance. |

Kira and Rich are hot. Their relationship has been years in the making but it is not without its issues or laughs. Really great read you will love. |
This book has all the elements of a must read romance novel, but the book just didn't turn out for my interest... Second Chances, Family Drama, Bribes, Billionaires, Wealth, and Breaking a Best Friends Pact = it should be an exceptional read, BUT the rodent sweater hobby, dinosaur bone collector, and the strange bickering between the brothers and friends just left me feeling odd and not getting it. I did read the book from cover to cover and it did keep my interest as I was curious how the plot was going to unfold. There is not a cliff hanger ending being a part of a book series and I am curious enough to pick up the next book in this series. In the end, I just didn't fall in love with the characters. I feel like being a second chance romance with this hatred that happened in high school -- I am still unsure why Kira hated Rich from high school when she didn't even date him. I feel like maybe some added flashbacks to get the feeling of how they felt about each other in high school would have made the story come to life for me. |
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I loved the crazy antics of Kira , Iris and Miranda. They had each other’s support with every challenge life threw at them. The King brothers Rich, Cade and Nick have charmed lives but they work hard at everything to succeed. These brothers cracked me up! Each one is swoon worthy gorgeous. I loved the chemistry of Rich and Kira. This is a fun steamy start to this series and I can’t wait to read the other stories. |
I received for an honest review from netgalley This read hooked me from the start I fell in love with the characters I just couldn’t turn the page gad5 enough I just loved the writing skills of the writer a must read |

Absolutely hilarious, I was laughing so hard into the third chapter and reading outloud to my husband because I couldn't contain it. The characters are amazing, the back and forth commentary sucks you in, these people could very well be real and be in your home town. There was just enough drama to peak the interest and romance abundance. Do you ever really forget your first major crush and let love soar. I so cant wait for more of these brothers and best friends, will something blow up this time? |
Anyone But Rich is a fabulously funny, lighthearted, second chance romance. Kira, along with her two best friends Iris and Miranda are shocked to hear that the King brothers are returning to town 7 years after they made a pact to have absolutely nothing to do with them. Each of them have some kind of tumultuous history with one of the brothers and they are prepared to uphold their old promise and remain steadfast in their avoidance of the handsome, billionaire brothers but Rich King has other plans! He wants to clear the air with Kira, apologise and put the past behind them. Kira makes it clear that she wants nothing to do with him but Rich is determined to show he's not the same boy that left 7 years ago. Can Kira allow herself a chance with Rich or will she be betraying her friends and the pact? Is Rich in the right place to pursue a relationship with Kira when his stuffy, manipulative parents want him to marry another woman? Will he committ to his obligation with Stella and ensure his new business headquarters opens without interference or will he outwit his parents and get the woman he wants after all?? A great read made all the more enjoyable by the secondary characters. Cade and the way his mind works is hilarious and I look forward to his story with Iris who is equally as nutty! I'm also intrigued to learn the history between Nick and Miranda who were possibly the closest in the past before it all went awry. This was my first time reading anything by Penelope Bloom and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Would definitely recommend and I eagerly await the next book which I hope is Cade's! Thanks to NetGalley and Montlake for the opportunity to read this book. |
Anyone But Rich by Penelope Bloom a four-star read that blooms between the pages. Most of the time this deserves five-stars but then in a couple it only deserves at most three, so I went for four overall. I am eagerly awaiting number two in the anyone but series as I am hoping that that one will have more five-star moments, and I adored both of Kira’s best friends Miranda and Iris along with all three King brothers, they all made this a great story, even some of the others like the parents, they added much mirth to the story, but there were just a couple of bots I got frustrated at reading and was like eugghh how much more. But then a few pages later I was hooked again, its that type of story. This has all the bones of being a great series. |
I voluntarily received a copy of this for an honest review by NetGalley. This was hysterical. I started laughing on the first chapter and I think I continued until the very end. Some parts were so funny I literally had to stop and catch my breath. The love story that is included in the humor is really sweet and sincere. I fell in love with the characters right away. Especially the brother and best friends, honestly they made the book for delightful. I want to read the brothers and friends stories too. If you love rom-com’s you will definitely enjoy this read. |
