I requested this title to see if it is something that would be appropriate for my YA collection. The nonfiction section doesn't get a lot of circulation but I like to keep it relevant and have titles that are interesting and accurate. I read the intro and the first chapter and flipped through the rest to get an idea of what the book was about. This book would have made a great display for this election. I'm afraid after this election the author and publisher could update a lot of it with what happened. This election alone could change the first chapter. Nonetheless I believe this book fits my criteria of being accurate and interesting. The text was easy to follow and didn't seem to talk to high or low to their audience. There was also some nice added side stories and images that helped add extra to the chapter. I, myself, wasn't interested in politics until my mid twenties and would be surprised if a teen picked this up on their own but if they did they would likely be able to learn a great deal from it.

It may be published under the young readers category, but this book should be a must-read for every American! With non-partisan language and representation from all sides of the arguments, Ms. Rusch has brought a civics class to us all in easy to read words and concepts. This is a great addition to any homeschool library!!
