Before I start I want to mention I am a big fan of the authors work. I loved the Andrade series and the Legacy series and the Westerley's and Barringtons. This story is connected to Dominic Corisi who is married to Abby and they now have a daughter, Judy. Judy is 9 and makes a family tree and its a failure for her teacher and so she brings in Althea to help her find out what she is missing. Supposedly a brother or family member related to her father. To be honest I did not really understand this part of the story very well. It sorta is a mystery and it will be interwoven into the story as this series progresses. My lack of undertsanding what they are looking for did not impact my enjoyment of this book.

This story is about billionaire developer Sebastian Romano, he is a sad character. He lost his family 5 years before in a terrible accident and even when the book starts he is a miserable fellow and not past the tradegy.

Heather has a 4 year old daughter that she has adopted when her best friend died giving birth. The daughter loses her pet wolf which is the only thing she has from her first mother and so Heather takes to social media to try and find it.

Seb finds it and his family makes him return it and that starts Heather and S's interactions. Was it love at first sight...NOPE. Is it jerk at first site..YES. This is a complicated story about two very lonely people and who both want a family but don't know how to make it happen.

If you read this book expect Sebastien to be a HUGE jerk...HUGE. But he is also a man who has loved deep and so he is also a wonderful man but in a lot of pain. Heather is pretty darned wonderful. Her heart is full and she is so giving and kind hearted.

The mystery in this book is how is Althea and Judy connected the characters and we get a hint in the story which I am not spoiling. I would not say this was a fun and sweet story. It is very intense with very intense characters. But it is writtend very well and I did enjoy getting to know the characters.

This is a great story. It's a new series start for Ruth Cardello with cameos of the Corisi family. It starts with the Judy Corisi trying to perfect a surprise for her dad Dominic. Then it cuts away to Sabastian and Heather. Heather's daughter has lost her beloved stuffed wolf Wolfie. Sabastian happens upon it in a parking lot and intends to throw it away. His mother sees it in his office, she had seen the story of Wolfie on the internet and makes Sabastian return it in person. Sabastian is still mourning the death of his wife and son and has no intentions besides delivering it and walking away. Well, you'll just have to read it to find out what happens. I loved this story. It grabbed me and held me until I finished. It can be read as a stand-alone but you'd be missing some of the backstories. I highly recommend this book. It's awesome

The Broken One is the first book by Ruth Cardello that I have read. This author and book were recommended to me and I am glad I took a chance on a new to me author. I thought this book was very enjoyable and entertaining to read.

I thought the concept of this book was an interesting one in that it was like we got a story within a story. You’ll understand it more once you read this book. I don’t want to give anything away. I will be honest, I didn’t really see the point of having Judy’s story in this one at times, but I am sure that will all become clear as this series releases each book.

In The Broken One, the main story is between Sebastian and Heather and her daughter Ava. This is a story about healing and learning to love again. Yes the main person who is the broken one is Sebastian, but I thought Heather was a little broken too. I thought they were good for each other and little Ava helped open Sebastian’s heart again.

Like I said Sebastian and Heather’s story is a romance story built around chance/fate. Heather is a single mother to her adopted daughter Ava. Ava has a stuffed animal named Wolfie, who she lost along the road. Desperate to find Wolfie for Ava, Heather puts out a message on social media…..Little did she know who would show up on her doorstep with Wolfie in hand. Sebastian is a broken man after tragically losing his wife and unborn child in an accident. He has been unable to move on and forgive himself for not being there for his dead wife. Little did he know how his world would change by bringing home a stuffed animal he found on the road. Can they get passed the past?? Will Heather be able to see passed Sebastian rough exterior?? Can they get their HEA?? Read this book to find out.

I have to give Heather a lot of props…she was a slightly broken woman, who has endured loss in her past, but still comes out strong. She was a strong, independent and fierce woman, who said it like it was. I loved that she put Sebastian in his place, but she definitely put up with a lot of his stuff. I would’ve kicked him to the curb long before he could’ve changed his behavior.. I was glad to see him grow as a person as the story played out. I truly thought Heather, Ava and Sebastian were good for each other. I hope we get to watch their relationship blossom even more in the other books in this series.

I loved getting to know Sebastian’s family. I loved his parents, and I can’t wait to read his brother’s books in the future.

I would for sure recommend this book to romance readers. If you like a story about a second chance at love and learning how to heal and move forward with your life, then this is the story for you.

Sebastian Romano was broken and wanted to stay that way. Through a stuffed animal named Wolfie, he was forced into opening his broken heart. Terrified and angry at the loss of his wife and child, he wanted nothing to do with Heather and her daughter Ava. Yet as they were thrown together by a seemingly innocent stuffed animal, Sebastian found himself beginning to feel again.
Ruth has written a beautiful story of finding love the second time around and is an excellent beginning of the Corisi Billionaires.

This was my first Ruth Cardello ARC and I was excited to get one from NetGalley. The blurb peaked my interest and when I received it in my kindle app, I devoured it right away.

I've read a lot of romance in my lifetime and I've also read about something being returned to the owner and they fell in love after one meet... but this is the first time I've read about a toy being returned to a kid... I'm a huge romantic sap and I saw a lot of possibilities as I turned the book page after page.

I must admit, at first I thought I downloaded a defective ARC... I was confused at the first couple of chapters... and then I realized that this book is also a part of another story.

Although it's a wee bit fast paced for my liking, because honestly, who blurts out about not wearing underwear on a first lunch date, and only on a second meeting—but somehow it still works. It's part of the heroine's quirkiness...

It's angsty and swoony and sweet and most of all, it centers on family. It's definitely something you'd want to read after a long days work...

Ended too soon but...

Who would have thought that a lost "Wolfe" would bring an angry, heartbroken man back to life?

Sebastian had been going through the motions of living but not really living ever since his wife and unborn child were taken from him.

He was filled with overwhelming grief and misplaced guilt. Then he finds a stuffed animal on the side of the road that he couldn't seem to get rid of. Who knew that finding that stuffed animal would change his world.

Ava was the adopted daughter of Heather who didn't go anywhere without "Wolfe" who she appointed her guardian angel. She knew it was wrong to let down her window but didn't tell Mommy right away that "Wolfe" had fell out.

However, when she realized she wouldn't be able to go to sleep without and told Mommy, Heather did everything she could to find him.. Even placing an ad and offering an award to get him back.

As fate would have it Sebastian and Heather would meet when he reluctantly returned "Wolfe" to his grateful owner.

Mystery: How will Judy's search for her father's family tree connect these two families and will it be a good thing or cause grief?

And the legacy continues ...

The Corisi adventures began with a domineering rogue and his surprise Cinderella. To be perfectly honest Dominic and Abby were the start of my love affair with author Ruth Cardello. Six years later and numerous favorites more and my heart still belongs to this unforgettable couple. The Broken One allowed me to revisit a few of my favorite characters, while introducing a new generation and reacquainting hearts with a few overlooked facts. This time around it's Sebastian and Heather who have hearts skipping a beat. These strangers are the key to unraveling an emotion packed past and the start of a long overdo healing process. With a captivating backstory, a heartstopping romance and a crew of adorable matchmakers, Cardello reminds me why I continue to adore her talent now and hopefully years into the future.
