A festive read which will warm even the coldest of hearts. Christmas in Colorado- a white Christmas , something the White family have only dreamt about. Add a wedding, a divorce, job anxiety, a cosy cabin and this story just gets better and better. Working on relationships and the importance of communication are strong themes.
The characters are warm and believable with flaws which only serve to make them human.
This story makes a great festive read - enjoy and dream of sleigh rides, snow shoes, tree houses in the forest and lights on the Christmas tree.

This is Sarah Morgan's festive feel good romance featuring the White family with the upcoming unexpected wedding of Rosie, studying in Harvard, specialising in Celtic folklore and mythology. Mum, Maggie lives in her much loved home in Oxford, works in publishing, but has been living alone for the last six months, with Nick, an Egyptology professor, having moved out, in preparation for their divorce. Maggie has kept this secret from her daughters, Katie, a busy stressed out A & E doctor, and Rosie, and plans to continue doing so until after Rosie's wedding. Maggie is worried that impulsive Rosie is rushing into marriage, and Katie, who has suffered her own trauma which she has kept from the family, is sure that Rosie needs to be rescued from making a major error of judgement. Maggie hates flying, but she will do anything for her daughters, and travels with Nick, helped by the intake of copious amounts of alcohol.

In this story of the problems of communication, over protectiveness, and secrets in the White family, they arrive to spend Chrismas in the beautiful snowy location in the mountains of Colorado. Wedding preparations are well under way, competently and efficiently handled by wedding planner, the lovely Catherine, the mother of Dan, the groom to be. The location is majestic and magical, captivating the entire White family. Dan proves to be great guy and obviously in love with Rosie, but Katie is not convinced it will work out in the long term as she sets out to interrogate Dan. Dan's best friend and best man, Jordan, arborist and carpenter, is not impressed with Katie's effort to undermine the wedding. Rosie allows doubts to enter her mind, but is struggling to find ways to communicate this to Dan, feeling events are running away from her. Katie who has never had a close relationship begins to be drawn to Jordan, but surely there is no future in it? Will Maggie and Nick rediscover their love for each other? Will Rosie marry Dan?

The highlight for me is Morgan's detailed descriptions of the mountainous Colorado location, I think snowy mountains truly do have a magical feel, a reminder of Narnia, particularly with blizzards and snowstorms. The characterisation is not perfect, but still works in this escapist fantasy, and the family dramas do carry some level of real life authenticity. Communications in families can be problematic, marriages can come under strain as couples lose sight of each other through the years, and relationships often do need to be recalibrated if they fester from outdated childhood patterns like protectiveness. This book is for those wanting a warm hearted festive read with the perfect location to immerse themselves in. Many thanks to HQ for an ARC.

a lovely read with just the right amount of "will they, wont they?" and "should they, shouldn't they?" mixed in with some beautiful descriptions of the snowy backdrop. Enough to make me want to go there and stay a while!

This book will delight everyone who loves a romance story set in the winter, the best time to snuggle down and lose yourself in an easy enjoyable read, the non fattening version of eating a box of chocolates! As in real life it has some dramas along the way and makes us wait until the end to discover if the wedding will proceed. It made me wish I could spend Christmas in such an idyllic setting.

It is always a joy to read a new book from the queen of Christmas romances, and this was no exception.

From the moment the family stepped foot in Aspen I was hooked, on the exquisitely described winter wonderland, It felt picture perfect for a white wedding and white Christmas.

We see the story from three different perspectives.

Rosie the bride to be, who is rather impulsive and the baby of the family, who is getting married to Dan after knowing him a few short months. At times you do wonder if she is having doubts, but I generally thought she was perfect for Dan.

Katie, the prickly older sister who is over protective, and is flying out to try to stop the wedding. She is also hiding something from the rest of her family.

And there is Maggie, Rosie's mother, who now can't work out when the best time to tell the girls that she is getting a divorce from their father Nick. She is terrified of flying and doesn't want to upset Rosie before the big day.

So a family with assorted secrets, a meeting of two families, and all manner of fabulous conversations and amusing situations.

I enjoyed seeing how all three ladies' stories developed, and just what they were hiding from each other. There was a sizzling romance on the cards for one of them, and old connections being strengthened for another.

There is a lot going on in this book, and i really did enjoy it all. Unfortunately real life circumstances got in the way of me being able to just sit and read this which possibly lead to my slight feelings of disconnect with the characters.

It' a great book, just not for me as fabulous as everything else I've read by Sarah Morgan. It definitely had a lovely wintry feel to it, and was a great story of families and relationships. Or staying true to yourself, following your dreams and that it is never too late in life to change careers.

A lovely readable book, just right to read in front of the fire. Mother is planning Christmas as normal, then gets thrown a bombshell, daughter is getting married and wants mother there. She has a phobia about flying, she and husband have separated but not told the children yet, three months down the line. Other daughter has problems of her own, and not told anyone else. This all comes to a head, now you need to read the book to find out how it all gets sorted..

A feel good book to be read in front of the fire at Christmas.

What could be better than to curl up by a roaring fire and read a lovely romantic novel. This does not disappoint. A fairly standard story that is very well written. Just what you need.

If you are looking for a good Christmas story to read, then this one will definitely fit the bill. It is a family story filled with drama, love, romance and quite a bit of misunderstanding. All this works together to make a really good read.

The loved the family dynamic of the White family, the parents and two daughters, coming together for a special day but all with personal problems, opinions and wants. Like real people, often getting the wrong end of the stick and jumping to the wrong conclusion, but isn't that what families often do? The characters are well written and very likeable. I thought they all worked really well together, bringing this story and very genuine feel to it.

I really enjoyed reading this book, set in a very snowy Aspen, A Wedding in December is one of those books you will want to curl up with and disappear into. It is well worth a read.

Absolutely another cracking book from Sarah. Perfect for those chilly nights, curling up with a cuppa and this book is a must.

Not my usual genre of reading but I absolutely love the idea of a snowy, cosy Christmas and I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
The White family of Oxfordshire have always enjoyed their traditional Christmas at their cottagey home. Maggie works for a publishing house, Nick is an academic/archaeologist and spends more time abroad than at home; their eldest daughter Katie(32) is an A&E doctor in London and Rosie (22) is in Colorado on scholarship studying for her Ph.D.
It's 6 weeks to Christmas - Rosie phones mum Maggie in the middle of the night announces she's engaged to Dan after a whirlwind romance, and they intend to marry at his family's luxury lodge in Aspen on Christmas Eve.
The story is told from the points of view of Maggie, Katie and Rosie. Maggie feels resentful and no longer needed as Dan's mother has taken over all the preparations and feels personally inadequate comparing herself to superwoman Catherine. Katie is questioning her competence and happiness following an incident at work and is convinced this marriage would be a disaster. Rosie is very happy but inadvertently conveys some doubts to Katie who is very protective of her.
Will there actually be a wedding? Rosie's family arrive a week before and the story unfolds.
This has excellent writing and dialogue and an adorable Christmassy atmosphere created; I found there to be quite a bit of humour amidst all the conflicting emotions of romance and truth-telling.
Loved it!

A wedding in December isn’t my usual type of read but it was enjoyable enough. This book is about the white family. It’s told from multiple points of view.

Rosie announces she’s getting married and the family are going to Colorado. The white family haven’t met the groom yet and the bride has only known her future for a short time.

Just because it’s December doesn’t mean everyone is feeling jolly. Rosie’s parents are keeping a secret and trying to figure out their own future.

Katie, Rosie’s sister has reached the career goal she always wanted but her demons are haunting her.

This trip becomes more than a wedding. The family need time to work out what they want and how to overcome their bad luck.

This is a warm and fuzzy kind of book. There is also a lot of anxiety. Overall it’s a nice read and different to other Christmas themed books I’ve read.

What a great writer Sarah Morgan is. I loved everything about this book, the characters, the beautiful description of the scenery and a good Christmas story to curl up with.

Katie is very protective of her little sister Rosie, Rosie and Dan haven't known each other long but plan a Chrostmas wedding, Mags and Nick have decided to divorce and Dans mum has had difficulty coming to terms with the death of her husband. Sprinkle some snow and a bit of Christmas magic and this has to be the Christmas book of the year. I enjoyed it from the first page to the last and was sorry when I reached the end.

Sarah Morgan returns with another beautifully crafted tale of romance set in the coldest season of the year. Katie is unhappy that her sister Rosie seems to be rushing into her marriage without thinking, and is worried that things will not go well. When the family are all invited to the Christmas wedding, Katie sees this as a chance to Put a stop to the ceremony. But she is hiding secrets of her own, and it takes several false starts before everybody comes clean, and makes a fresh new beginning.
As with all Sarah’s books, the characters come to life of the page, and you can really get into their psyche and understand what drives them. The usual romance is woven into the storylines, and altogether this is one of her finest books.

As a great fan of Sarah Morgan, I expected a good read and this book didn’t disappoint. From the first page, I was gripped by the descriptive writing and story, which became completely absorbing as the story progressed.

Maggie is left on her own after her two daughters have grown up and left home. She has also split up with her husband Nick, having always been totally absorbed in her children, at the cost of her own potential career and marriage. When Rosie, her youngest daughter decides she is going to marry someone she hasn’t known long, Maggie is concerned that she is being too impulsive, and the story involves likeable, well drawn characters, the older daughter Katie, who is a doctor, and husband. All the characters have secrets which they are keeping from others in the family, which are emotively told as the story unfolds.

The book is set in the wonderful snow filled Aspen mountains as preparations get ready for the wedding, and decisions need to be made which could affect the family’s life in the future. A beautifully written snowy Christmas themed landscape, warm, emotive characters, passion and humour all combined, make an enjoyable read which I highly recommend.

I love a Christmas story and look forward to this time of year when festive novels begin to hit the shelves. I also know that I can rely on Sarah Morgan to provide her readers with a lovely Christmas tale in a stunning location. This latest book definitely falls into that category. It was one I literally couldn’t put down and, at the same time, felt sad when it was finished.

The setting for this story is the Colorado ski resort of Aspen, where the White family members are gathering for the Christmas Eve wedding of younger daughter Rosie to local man Dan. First to fly in from London are mum and dad Maggie and Nick. Maggie has many reasons for dreading this whole experience, ranging from a fear of flying to worry about a hastily arranged wedding and mostly keeping a secret from the rest of the family. Rosie’s older sister Katie, a stressed accident and emergency department doctor who has been having a particularly difficult time of late, arrives a day later; she also has misgivings about her sister’s whirlwind romance and is determined to stop her making a big mistake. However, best man Jordan keeps distracting her from her goal. Rosie herself has been experiencing doubts about her upcoming nuptials too. High in the beautiful snow covered Rockies staying in the luxurious and romantic Snowfall Lodge Resort, can the family relax and heal in time to enjoy Rosie and Dan’s big day?

This is another great story from Sarah Morgan, combining family dramas and romance with comic interludes, all in a wonderful setting. I loved the way in which the story was told, each of the three women in the White family taking turns at centre stage. Each of them had problems of their own but was willing to put them aside to support the others. I’m sure many readers could identify with lovely mum Maggie who is feeling a little adrift now that her girls have left home; having put her ambitions on hold to care for the family she now wants more. However, for me, her arrival at Denver airport was the funniest scene in the book; absolutely hilarious. Although the story is very much centred on these three women, the men play important roles as well; three men and three women, but will any of them be together at the end? This well written story kept me guessing. I became so absorbed in the lives of the characters that I didn’t want it to end. This book is one to curl up with in front of the fire and would make a great Christmas gift.

What a delicious early Christmas present this book was! It covers love in many forms and generations and all in the magical winter wonderful setting of Aspen , Colorado . It's Christmas, it's snowing and love is in the air...it has such a great storyline with engaging, lovable characters and left me wanting to start my Christmas wrapping! When I reached the last page and looked out of my window in rainy England it came as quite a shock, so absorbed had I been in this gorgeous book. More please!
