I loved this book. Loved it. I read it within 24 hours and I went through every single emotion that I possibly could. The characters are great and well written. They come to life on the page and you can’t help but feel like they are part of your circle. I wanted the book to last for so much longer, but it obviously had to come to an end. I love the descriptions of places and scenes. Sarah Morgan definitely takes you on a journey and I can’t wait for the next one!

Rosie has moved to the USA to finish her degree. Whilst their she meets the man of her dreams. The wedding is planned for a few weeks away just before Christmas. Whilst Rosie is falling in love her parents have secretly seperated and are living apart. They don't want to ruin the wedding so they plan to continue with their "acting." Rose's older sister Katie is an A and E consultant, her dream job however an incident occurs at work and quickly Katie's life spirals into a blizzard. Will she force the Weddings closure? Can she save her parents marriage and herself?

The cover drew me to this book. once but twice. I love the aqua green of the sky which blends into the wooden Lodge. This made me want to be reading this book in the lodge by the fire.

Their are some emotional subjects included in this book such as divorce, professional assualt and child death. However this gives each of the characters their own life challenges which are exacerbated by spending Christmas together and by each character sharing the wealth of problems in this book. It prevents the book from becoming a hard book instead of having a Christmas feel.

Furthermore I do not feel that much happened in this book until the last 20% of the book. The first 70% of the book was introducing the characters and them going about their day in the USA. This continued with nothing more happening until Katie walks in on her parents discussion. From there on in the book was a page Turner and every twist and turned happened in that small amount of pages. Therefore I feel this book would have worked better as a novella.

On the other hand the characters complimented each other beautifully and I felt it was so effective that there were four strong female characters. Three from one family which showed your personality does not need to hold you back.

When a story begins with a foreword from the author suggesting that A Wedding in December may or may not include a wedding at all you secretly start to wonder if this is a thriller wrapped up in rom-com wrapping. But fears were soon pushed aside when the story plunged into the most idyllic winter wonderland I've ever seen. Aspen is where festive dreams are made and I was in love with the dreamy destination used as a backdrop for this beautiful book.

Secrets were the books driving force and the rhythm the story danced upon. I've never known a family lose the ability to communicate as much as the White's and it was very much a feeling of frustration, on my part as the reader. I wanted to shake the book in hopes of knocking some sense into these adults that have lost their way in life. But books have a funny way of unravelling any issues the storyline suggests and this narrative unpicked them beautifully.

I don't think there's one character I can single out as they all faced many a similar challenge. As I've mentioned before, communication was a fundamental flaw for each and everyone of them and secrets were what wove the story together. Learning to open up and voice any hopes and fears of life and love was a learning curve, especially for the White's and it was this challenge that brought the book alive. In the remaining moments of the story, when all barriers were broken and true dialogue was able to break through, seen the book take flight in splendid glory.

A Wedding in December is a heartfelt ride of pure emotions and I loved each and every minute of my time spent in Aspen. This book needs to make its way to your tbr piles this festive season that's for sure. Don't miss out on this winter wonderland.

I’ll start this review as I think I always do when reviewing a romance novel (so sorry for being predictable) in saying that this really isn’t my genre of choice. I am a bit of a cynical old git and I also veer towards thrillers and generally much meatier reading material. I do, however, like to take a breather from the more macabre now and then and let myself be taken in by a bit of good old fashioned romance (not Mills & Boon level mind – that would be a step too far for me!).

A Wedding in December is the story of Rosie’s wedding which is a shock for her family, partly because it is unexpected and to take place very soon and also because they will have to travel all the way to Aspen to be there. Her parents have their worries and are also guarding a big secret but vow to make the occasion special for their youngest daughter. Rosie’s older sister Katie is horrified at the thought of her sister getting married so soon, and in the States, and is determined to put paid to the wedding once and for all.

What follows is, admittedly, all pretty predictable but it was also fun, sweet and well written. Was it a bit slushy at times? Yes – but do you know what? I really did enjoy it. It provided the perfect little drop of escapism and let’s face it, we could all do with a break from reality right now couldn’t we. So the miserable bag in me had to eat some humble pie and accept that this cute tale made me smile and it even made me a bit wistful! If you need to be taken away for a while by an easy, romantic read then I recommend giving this book a go.

My thanks to #Netgalley, #HarperCollinsUK and #SarahMorgan for a copy of #AWeddinginDecember in return for an honest review.

This was the first book that I have read by this author but I really enjoyed her easy writing style and the characters that she developed. The stresses of modern day life could be felt with some characters and the escape to a winter lodge in America seemed very appealing. Overall a pleasant and easy read.

I have yet to find a book by Sarah Morgan that I have not enjoyed and A Wedding in December was no exception. I loved it. I read it in one sitting and was sad when it ended. Looking forward to the next book by Sarah.

This was sweet! Admittedly I should have read this actually in December rather than February, but oh well. It is very typical of its genre and nothing shocking, unexpected or out there, but a heartwarming read nonetheless that would go perfectly with cold evenings and a hot beverage (or glass or two of wine). This type of book is my guilty pleasure so it was a welcome addition to my 'read' pile. 3 stars, because it isn't going to blow you away and isn't a page turner. But that doesn't mean it isn't good and that you shouldn't read it. I am picky with my four and five stars.

Initially the central character seemed rather dreary, but by a quarter way through there is a hilarious drunk scene. I began to enjoy the book for a while, but then it repeated the plot and character traits non stop so I was quite glad to finish it.
Even now I find people do not proclaim their psychological profiles and openly discuss ten. The control freak is unlikely to proclaim she is genuinely - rather as one claims to be dumb or ugly to garner contradictions.
Most characters are just a bit too fluent about their failings and reform unbelievably fast.
The male hopeless at gift choosing is not really going to consult with a female expert and so hit the exact target first time!

I understand the exact author has written several novels on a wedding theme so perhaps her repetitive style has proved popular (with others).

The most enjoyable book I've read in a while - light hearted, slightly poignant, a couple of twists but always with the hope of the ending you expect. The author stirs lots of emotions as you are reading and the characters are so long life you feel they might be part of your life. The sort of book you don't want to finish, looking forward to the next one!

A Wedding in December is a book that was long overdue. I was supposed to read it for Christmas, but yet, here we are in February. Nevertheless, it was an amazing experience and I am so glad I finally read it.

Sarah Morgan has an extremely good talent in human relations and relationships. She puts these relationships on paper so easily… Do you know that feeling where you can sense people’s mood by just walking into a room? She managed to capture this moment in most of her scenes – and it was a true joy to read that.

The Synopsis
Maggie has two daughters: Katie and Rosie. While Katie has always planned everything in her life and never failed (becoming doctor is her biggest achievement), Rosie is the complete opposite. She changes her mind all the time and never knows what she truly wants.

And one evening, Rosie calls her mum to tell her she is getting married. All of a sudden. Not in her hometown in the UK, but in some snowy mountains in the USA. For Christmas. THIS Christmas. In just a few months.

Everything is happening so fast, and Maggie is afraid for her daughter. But most importantly, Maggie is afraid that she will finally reveal to her girls that she is getting divorced from their dad.

My Thoughts
In a lovely snowy atmosphere, we get to see this family, and their different personalities coming together, in a book where love wins in the end. Reading this book under a warm blanket and with a hot chocolate definitely gave me the true feelings of Christmas again.

I encountered some interesting scenes, a couple of plot twists, a bit of a mystery behind one of the sisters. The importance of mental health as well, and how important is to share our troubles with someone. Anyone.

Some of the relationships, new or current, happened at a very fast pace, which wasn’t too my great pleasure. There was some sense of unnecessary urgency which didn’t feel believable nor relatable to me. But in hindsight, a wonderful book to spend your evenings with.

If you love romance novels and you also love Christmas, A Wedding in December will probably end up being your favourite book. I highly recommend it!

A Wedding in December is another great read by Sarah Morgan. Firstly, I have to draw attention to the amazing cover, a beautiful backdrop to an amazing story. Christmas trees, log cabins and snow sets the scene and invites us into Sarah Morgan's world.
In this story we meet the White family who are getting together to attend the wedding of Rosie who has decided to get married at Christmas. Rosie is getting married and should be excited but doubts are gripping into her mind, her family are joining her and she cannot wait but, her parent's are hiding a secret and one that they do not want to share until after the wedding but how can they keep a divorce hidden from their daughters. Kate the eldest daughter is very concerned and is going to check if her sister is getting married for the right reasons as it has all been a bit of a whirl wind.
Sarah Morgan has created a plot that is heart warming and gives us cosy Christmas feels but alongside this she has her characters have thoughts and feelings that are very relate able and I could identify with them. Each chapter turned into the next and I flew through this read with ease. What stands out for me is the use of dialogue in her writing it conveys so much, alongside this the story gets told by more then one character, sometimes this can be confusing but not in this case it gives the story extra depth. To fully understand all the family situations that occur you need to hear the story told by different characters.
Another fantastic read from Sarah Morgan about family, love and letting go of those assumptions and thoughts that can take over you life. A Wedding in December left me with a greater understanding of myself and the dream of going away for Christmas.

Everybody loves a wedding and there is always something special about a Christmas wedding. When Rosie calls from America in the middle of the night to tell her parents she is marrying Dan who she has only known for a few months - alarm bells start ringing..

Maggie is over protective of Rosie because she suffers from severe Asthma. Her eldest daughter Katie is a doctor and doesn't cause her any concerns at all as she is the stronger of the two. But Maggie has a secret that her and Nick have been living apart for several months and are getting divorced - she is determined not to tell the girls until after the wedding but can they keep up the pretence over the week.

Katie also has a secret that she was attacked at work and is now considering giving up being a doctor - but she is worried of telling her parents so can she keep up the pretence over the week.

Rosie is ecstatic about getting married until she talks to Katie and the doubts start to kick in but as the wedding is in less than 3 weeks she is scared of telling Dan that things are moving too quick. Can she work out if this is what she wants and keep the doubts from her family.

As they all meet together - tensions start to build as they each try to hide their secrets until the fall out two days before the wedding. Will it go ahead or not? You start to feel for each of them as they try to deal with the issues in their lives and feeling unable to talk to each other about it.

The story is told from Maggie, Rosie and Katie's perspective and their feelings and doubts is quite repetitive which is a little annoying but does help to build up the tension. A lovely, feel good book.
