This is not my typical book, however it is the type I only read at Christmas! The characters/family members all had different things going on in their back stories which made it a little bit interesting, They covered lots of different life stages, so something for everyone. The setting of Aspen sounded idyllic and made it much better than some in this genre and very cosy and seasonal.

I have been a fan of Sarah's books for quite a while now. I love the way in which she writes romantic fiction with more than a hint of drama. I read the synopsis for 'A Wedding In December' and it certainly sounded like just my kind of read. I started reading and oh my word, I just couldn't stop. Reading 'A Wedding In December' was the perfect way to escape the chilly weather outside. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'A Wedding In December' but more about that in a bit.
It didn't take me long at all to get into this story. In fact by the time I got to the end of the first couple of chapters I just knew that I wouldn't be able to put this delightful book to one side for any length of time. I became totally absorbed in the story and I just had to keep reading to see how the story was going to pan out for the main characters. I was so into the story that I forgot the chilly weather outside and I forgot that I was suffering from severe back pain. The pages turned increasingly quickly as I worked my way through the wonderful story. I didn't manage to binge read the book over the course of a day because life got in the way, but I managed to read the book over the course of three or four days, which is still good for me. I was most disappointed when I reached the end of the story. I realise that sounds a tad negative but I don't mean it to sound like that. I was enjoying the author's writing style, the characters and the storylines so much that I just didn't want the magical story to end.
'A Wedding In December' is exceedingly well written but then I find that to be the case with all of Sarah's books. She creates likeable characters and gives them realistic storylines, which makes them easier to relate to. I hope that makes sense. Sarah describes her characters so well that they seemed to spring to life and jump off the page as it were. In fact they seemed just as real as you and I. By the time I reached the end of the story I did feel as though the characters had become good friends of mine. I felt protective and defensive of them. Sarah writes so realistically and uses such vivid descriptions that I did feel as though I was part of the story myself. Sarah certainly took me on a bit of an emotional journey but ultimately this story did warm my heart.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'A Wedding In December'. Sarah Morgan has done it again and she has written one heck of a book that is sure to fly high in the bestsellers list, which is nothing more than it deserves. I would definitely recommend this author and her books to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Sarah's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

Having had my own wedding in December I have very fond memories and when I saw this title I simply could not help myself.
This wonderful romance is fun, sweet, and I simply could not put it down.

5 Words: Christmas, family, expectations, love, change.

Sarah Morgan can do no wrong, especially when it comes to Christmas. This is a perfect cosy family drama and charming romance, and I loved it.

I think my favourite thing about A Wedding in December was the setting. It was so real and I felt like I was there. And it was COLD. But even though we've barely had ice, I could almost see snow every time I looked up from this book and out of the window.

I felt so sorry for Maggie at times. Her life is falling apart and she feels like she's missing out on Rosie's life a bit, and everything is slipping from her and she feels so uninvolved. It tugged at my heartstrings so much.

I loved the relationship between Rosie and Katie. There was something so real about it, the small ways in which they thought they knew each other better than themselves, and thought that they each knew best. Rosie is the "impulsive one" but I think Katie is too at heart, and I loved how fiercely protective she was of her sister.

Actually, A Wedding in December explores a lot of relationships. It really delves down in to them, picks them apart with surprising consequences, and I loved the way it all played out.

Now I can't wait for Christmas!

Another fabulous Christmas book by Sarah Morgan. At first I was saving it for reading at Christmas but couldn't resist reading it earlier. Interesting charcters from a variety of backgrounds and ages yet all linked through family connections. Also interesting descriptions of snowy Aspen , it made me wish that I was still young enough and fit enough to put ski's on and I wondered whether I had taken all I could out of the experiences at the time!!!

Other writers have given full descriptions of the storyline but just go for it and enjoy another escape with Sarah Morgan.

Like others I am now waiting for her next book!

There's nothing I enjoy more in the build up to Christmas than a gorgeous, festive read and Sarah Morgan never fails to deliver on that front and this year is no exception with A Wedding in December. In her latest novel we're taken to the beautiful setting of Aspen, Colorado for the surprise upcoming wedding of Rosie, youngest daughter of Maggie and Nick, after a whirlwind romance. A wedding should be such a special moment for everyone involved but what happens when everyone comes together, will the secrets and fears they've all been hiding come to light?

Sarah Morgan has a knack of creating characters that you become fully invested in and that's definitely true for the three women in the White family, Maggie, Katie and Rosie. At first I was a little surprised at Katie's reaction to the wedding news and her plan to put a stop to it but as her story unfolded, the more I began to understand why she was acting the way she was. Her 'need' to protect Rosie from heartache was a way to try and block out the pain she was feeling about her own situation. As for Rosie, I did wonder whether she was mature enough to be married as she seemed quite young and immature in her ways but her strength shone through when the time came for her to be there to support the others.

Maggie too was at a crossroads, not knowing what her future looked like and feeling that now that her daughters were grown up and had left the nest no-one needed her anymore, and in a job that she doesn't love. I have to confess I didn't really understand why Maggie and Nick had kept their split a secret from their daughters but totally understood their reasoning of not revealing it now at what should be the happiest day of their daughter's life. The only trouble is that living a lie can create some embarrassing moments for all concerned especially when caught unawares...

The setting of Aspen was picture perfect and through her descriptive writing it sounded like a magical place to be at this time of year, the wintry scenes of dog sledging or speeding through the trails on a snow mobile made it somewhere I'd like to maybe visit one day. I particularly loved the idea of spending time in a log cabin or tree house, especially if there was someone like Jordan to spend time with.

A Wedding in December was just the tonic needed, it's a complex tale of relationships, drama and romance with a smattering of comedic moments to lighten the load. Put your feet up, relax and unwind in front of the fire with a glass of mulled wine and this gorgeous tale, you won't be disappointed.

I love Sarah Morgan’s novels. I know I write this in every review I wrote of her books, but I do love Sarah Morgan’s stories, her characters, and she chooses some amazing locations, especially when it comes to her Christmas novels. She always finds amazing, Christmassy and evocative settings that make me daydream and wish I was inside the novel. Last year, in The Christmas Sisters, it was beautiful Scotland and now, in A Wedding in December, Sarah Morgan takes us to Aspen, Colorado, where everything is covered in snow and a Christmas wedding is being planned.

Weddings are joyous moments (mostly!), but not for the White women. Rosie is very excited to marry Dan. Even if they’ve known each other for just a few months, she knows he is The One, but her sister Katie manages to put doubts in her minds a few days before the big day. Rosie’s always been impulsive and Katie’s always protected her and now she is on a mission: stop her sister from making what could be the biggest mistake of her life, but she hasn’t counted on the handsome best man trying to stop her. And while the organization of the wedding continues, Katie’s has her own problems to figure out and her own secrets to hide from her family. And then, there is their mother, Maggie, who focused her entire life on the well-being of her two daughters while her husband travelled around the world. Now she and Nick are getting divorced but she can’t certainly announce it right before the wedding… so Maggie and Nick have to pretend to be a happy couple for a while and going along with all the romantic trips and dinners planned for them.

If you’d asked me who is my favourite among these three women, I couldn’t tell you because I liked them all, even if they are completely different. I liked Rosie’s impulsiveness and sweetness. I found Maggie hilarious as she got drunk and pretended to be happily married to Nick. And I liked how Katie admitted her own faults and weaknesses. They are surrounded by three charming and handsome prince charmings who are entertaining sweep their women off their feet (I always love Sarah Morgan’s male characters!!!).

So, if you are looking for an engaging, captivating, and romantic Christmas story with fantastic characters and a magical atmosphere A Wedding in December is the book for you and, if you need more convincing, have you seen the gorgeous cover??? A must-read!!!

I am the biggest Sarah Morgan fan and A Wedding In December is now pride of place amongst my other Sarah Morgan books ( i have read them all - pictured below is some, the others are on my kindle!) and this did not disappoint.

Firstly the setting - beautifully festive that has you picturing it in your minds eye from the get go. Rosie is planning a wedding, well Rosie isnt - her mother in law to be is and Rosie is wrapped up in the whirlwind that is love. She invites her family to the wedding but it means one thing, giving up their Christmas traditions at home.

Maggie and Nick have their own secret as they arrive in Aspen and its not that they are on second honeymoon, in fact they are on the brink of divorce. Having grown apart can they just celebrate their daughters wedding by putting on a united front.

Lastly - Katie, Rosies big sister who has protected her since she was born and worried after her, convinced she knows Rosie better than Rosie knows herself and as that is the case, Katie has to stop the wedding before it goes ahead.

A wedding in December isnt a book about one character, instead its about several. Its about a family who have always focused on others and need to learn to embrace their own problems and seek help occasionally.

I adored it, Sarah Morgan writes wonderful characters that you want to spend time getting to know, usually over a cup of tea but after reading this i would say over a glass (or bottle) of champagne. The setting as i mentioned was beautiful, and the supporting cast of characters were glorious too. Its a truly wonderful festive read full of love, family and friendship. A pure delight.

This was an enjoyable book full of winter festivities and thrials and tribulations of the pressure that comes with family and Christmas. Greatread:)

This festive romance follows Rosie as she prepares to marry Dan after a whirlwind romance, her workaholic sister, Katie, and her mum, Maggie. It is told in 3 points of view which works well as all the characters have different personalities, are believable and have different conflicts to deal with. Rosie has her wedding doubts, Katie has problems at work while Maggie is preparing for her divorce. I felt there was a bias towards it being Maggie’s story rather than Rosie’s but this suited me because she was the character I could most relate to. It is a study of the different stages of love and relationships as well as family bonds.

The stunning setting gives you everything you need in a Christmas novel – snow, mountains and trees making it an ideal festive read. It is easy to visualise and imagine you are there. If Snowfall Lodge in Aspen was a real place it would be on my wish list of places to visit with the idyllic tree houses, sleigh rides and roaring fires.

It’s fun and emotional in places which is perfect to read in the light of the Christmas tree drinking hot chocolate.

WOULD I RECOMMEND

I love a festive read and Sarah Morgan always writes a gorgeous Christmas story, this book was set in the gorgeous snowy Colorado and what is not to fall in love with in this idyllic location.

A story that reminds you that you get back what you put in with regards to relationships and to keep making time for eachother. The characters of Rosie & Katie were brilliant, personality wise they are ying and yang, Katie is massively overprotective and Rosie is fighting to find her own voice to make her family listen to her.

I loved this book and devoured it in just a couple of days, it was oozing snowy mountains, romance and who doesn't love a white Christmas wedding. A great festive read that I highly recommend to get you in the mood for Christmas.

Great read for anytime, despite the title. A beautiful setting & a wedding, what more could you wish for, but there are lots of twists along the way, thoroughly enjoyed it

Festive feelgood formulaic fare which works perfectly as a light, wintry read. Empty nester Maggie is woken in the night by a transatlantic phonecall from her daughter, Rosie announcing her Christmas marriage in Colorado following a whirlwind romance. Cue Maggie’s journey to overcome her fear of flying in time to attend the wedding, reconnect with estranged husband, Nick and find new meaning beyond motherhood. Does what it says on the tin and is no less enjoyable for that. Thank you for the advance review copy, it’s an enjoyable escapist read perfect for this time of year.

An easy book to read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story was believable and came to a pleasing conclusion. The details in the ski sections were accurate and I could remember being in that situation. Definitely recommended to those readers who enjoy reading this type of book.

I wish Morgan would go back to writing straight up romance. I find the multiple leads in these more woman’s fic titles hard to like and under developed. I keep coming back for new ones hoping it’ll settle down - and I love her ski resort settings - but so far it’s not happening for me. Sad times because her books were such reliable comfort reads for me.

I found all three of the lead women in this hard to root for - one's too abrasive, one's too flighty and the other is too much of a doormat. You don't get enough time with any of them to really get past that and root for them. The men are slightly better, but you still don't ever feel like you get what makes them tick - and this makes the book harder to stick with and te resolution much harder to get on board with.

A very apt time of year to read this book given its almost December, but its a book that could be read at any time of the year.

Another great book from Sarah Morgan. Good characters that you really felt for and a storyline that kept you interesting throughout the book, what more could you ask for in a good book!

Quite simply, I loved it. Okay, some of it is a bit cheesy, and yes, some of it a tad unbelievable, but it's an easy, romantic read. The descriptions of the scenery are lovely. The story is set at Christmas time and there are a lot of details including snow to put you in the right vibe. I liked the story being told by three women (a mother and her two daughters). Some heavier issues were dealt with, and there was some introspection. Throw in a happy ending and this is a lovely book to curl up with and devour.

With thanks to Net Galley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was such a breath of fresh air. I absolutely loved it.

I usually read a lot of thriller and mystery. As much as I enjoy it, I wanted something different. I wanted something "feel good and christmassy".

There were so many aspects of this book that I could relate to.

I devoured this book in two sittings, by the fire with hot chocolate.

It was a delightful read, seasonal, but also full of the family dramas!

It brought a tear to my eye in places.

An all round great book, perfect for this season!
