This was sweet! Admittedly I should have read this actually in December rather than February, but oh well. It is very typical of its genre and nothing shocking, unexpected or out there, but a heartwarming read nonetheless that would go perfectly with cold evenings and a hot beverage (or glass or two of wine). This type of book is my guilty pleasure so it was a welcome addition to my 'read' pile. 3 stars, because it isn't going to blow you away and isn't a page turner. But that doesn't mean it isn't good and that you shouldn't read it. I am picky with my four and five stars. |

Initially the central character seemed rather dreary, but by a quarter way through there is a hilarious drunk scene. I began to enjoy the book for a while, but then it repeated the plot and character traits non stop so I was quite glad to finish it. Even now I find people do not proclaim their psychological profiles and openly discuss ten. The control freak is unlikely to proclaim she is genuinely - rather as one claims to be dumb or ugly to garner contradictions. Most characters are just a bit too fluent about their failings and reform unbelievably fast. The male hopeless at gift choosing is not really going to consult with a female expert and so hit the exact target first time! I understand the exact author has written several novels on a wedding theme so perhaps her repetitive style has proved popular (with others). |

The most enjoyable book I've read in a while - light hearted, slightly poignant, a couple of twists but always with the hope of the ending you expect. The author stirs lots of emotions as you are reading and the characters are so long life you feel they might be part of your life. The sort of book you don't want to finish, looking forward to the next one! |
A Wedding in December is a book that was long overdue. I was supposed to read it for Christmas, but yet, here we are in February. Nevertheless, it was an amazing experience and I am so glad I finally read it. Sarah Morgan has an extremely good talent in human relations and relationships. She puts these relationships on paper so easily… Do you know that feeling where you can sense people’s mood by just walking into a room? She managed to capture this moment in most of her scenes – and it was a true joy to read that. The Synopsis Maggie has two daughters: Katie and Rosie. While Katie has always planned everything in her life and never failed (becoming doctor is her biggest achievement), Rosie is the complete opposite. She changes her mind all the time and never knows what she truly wants. And one evening, Rosie calls her mum to tell her she is getting married. All of a sudden. Not in her hometown in the UK, but in some snowy mountains in the USA. For Christmas. THIS Christmas. In just a few months. Everything is happening so fast, and Maggie is afraid for her daughter. But most importantly, Maggie is afraid that she will finally reveal to her girls that she is getting divorced from their dad. My Thoughts In a lovely snowy atmosphere, we get to see this family, and their different personalities coming together, in a book where love wins in the end. Reading this book under a warm blanket and with a hot chocolate definitely gave me the true feelings of Christmas again. I encountered some interesting scenes, a couple of plot twists, a bit of a mystery behind one of the sisters. The importance of mental health as well, and how important is to share our troubles with someone. Anyone. Some of the relationships, new or current, happened at a very fast pace, which wasn’t too my great pleasure. There was some sense of unnecessary urgency which didn’t feel believable nor relatable to me. But in hindsight, a wonderful book to spend your evenings with. If you love romance novels and you also love Christmas, A Wedding in December will probably end up being your favourite book. I highly recommend it! |
A lovely heart warming, book about family and their romantic relationships. It's a lovely story, and set in a wonderful wintery place! A perfect Christmas novel . |
A Wedding in December is another great read by Sarah Morgan. Firstly, I have to draw attention to the amazing cover, a beautiful backdrop to an amazing story. Christmas trees, log cabins and snow sets the scene and invites us into Sarah Morgan's world. In this story we meet the White family who are getting together to attend the wedding of Rosie who has decided to get married at Christmas. Rosie is getting married and should be excited but doubts are gripping into her mind, her family are joining her and she cannot wait but, her parent's are hiding a secret and one that they do not want to share until after the wedding but how can they keep a divorce hidden from their daughters. Kate the eldest daughter is very concerned and is going to check if her sister is getting married for the right reasons as it has all been a bit of a whirl wind. Sarah Morgan has created a plot that is heart warming and gives us cosy Christmas feels but alongside this she has her characters have thoughts and feelings that are very relate able and I could identify with them. Each chapter turned into the next and I flew through this read with ease. What stands out for me is the use of dialogue in her writing it conveys so much, alongside this the story gets told by more then one character, sometimes this can be confusing but not in this case it gives the story extra depth. To fully understand all the family situations that occur you need to hear the story told by different characters. Another fantastic read from Sarah Morgan about family, love and letting go of those assumptions and thoughts that can take over you life. A Wedding in December left me with a greater understanding of myself and the dream of going away for Christmas. |

Everybody loves a wedding and there is always something special about a Christmas wedding. When Rosie calls from America in the middle of the night to tell her parents she is marrying Dan who she has only known for a few months - alarm bells start ringing.. Maggie is over protective of Rosie because she suffers from severe Asthma. Her eldest daughter Katie is a doctor and doesn't cause her any concerns at all as she is the stronger of the two. But Maggie has a secret that her and Nick have been living apart for several months and are getting divorced - she is determined not to tell the girls until after the wedding but can they keep up the pretence over the week. Katie also has a secret that she was attacked at work and is now considering giving up being a doctor - but she is worried of telling her parents so can she keep up the pretence over the week. Rosie is ecstatic about getting married until she talks to Katie and the doubts start to kick in but as the wedding is in less than 3 weeks she is scared of telling Dan that things are moving too quick. Can she work out if this is what she wants and keep the doubts from her family. As they all meet together - tensions start to build as they each try to hide their secrets until the fall out two days before the wedding. Will it go ahead or not? You start to feel for each of them as they try to deal with the issues in their lives and feeling unable to talk to each other about it. The story is told from Maggie, Rosie and Katie's perspective and their feelings and doubts is quite repetitive which is a little annoying but does help to build up the tension. A lovely, feel good book. |
The perfect book to curl up with on a cold winter's night and to get you into the mood for Christmas. Looking forward to the next 'Christmas' sarah Morgan book to curl up with in 2020. |

A wonderful festive winter must read. Lovely story and characters. Heartwarming read. A must read for all fans of Sarah Morgan and anybody who likes a good romance novel. Five stars. |
What a lovely Christmas read. I really enjoyed this. So many things going on at once all told from different perspectives made it a very interesting read. I Ioved all the characters and the snowy setting of Aspen adds to the Christmas magic.. |

A Wedding in December is a wonderful read, full of love humour and some angst which adds much depth to this story. The characters are well rounded and likeable. Rosie is getting married in Aspen after a whirlwind romance. Unknowingly to her and her elder sister Katie her parents have separated and are planning to divorce, because they haven’t yet told their daughters they decide to attend as as a couple and inform them both after the marriage. Katie a doctor in an emergency department has been through a traumatic time and is not coping psychologically, she is determined to put a stop or at least postpone the wedding as she feels Rosie is too young and rushing into things. Add a lovely groom, his hot best friend, a beautiful setting, Christmas festivities and you have a cracking read. I would of liked a small epilogue just to see a little into their futures, but probably because I didn’t want the book to end. My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly. |
Absolutely loved this book. The characterisation was so good and I loved there were moments that I laughed out loud... the airport! It’s a great festive read and it’s one I’m thinking of gifting to friends for next Christmas :) |

The White family are all keeping secrets from each other, but only to ensure they don’t worry each other. When Rosie, Maggie’s youngest daughter, announces she’s getting married to her boyfriend of only a few months, Dan, it causes a huge surprise and some shock waves that create more surprises. Not only is Rosie getting married, she’s getting married that Christmas, at Snowfall Lodge, a beautiful hotel in the mountains just outside of Aspen. The White’s usually congregate at the family home each Christmas - Honeysuckle Cottage - so a few changes have to reluctantly take place. Rosie’s older sister Katie is adamant she’s going to go to Aspen to stop the wedding and change her sister’s mind, as she can’t believe Rosie can really know her husband to be so soon. Will spending time with each other in a snowy winter wonderland bring hidden secrets out into the open and what will the family make of Dan. Will there even be a Christmas wedding or will Rosie change her mind before the big day. I’ve read a few other Sarah Morgan books and really enjoyed them. So i couldn’t wait to get lost in the pages of this one set during winter. It felt like it was missing a little something that other Sarah Morgan books had. I can’t pin point what exactly, it just felt like it was without some heart or the usual warmth I’ve found in her past books. It may just be me, as I’ve not had much luck with my Christmas books so far this winter. If you’ve ever read any Sarah Morgan books and enjoyed them, I wouldn’t say avoid, on the off chance it’s just me. If you’ve never read any of her books before, I wouldn’t recommend this to be the first book or hers that you pick up. She has written far better (well, in my humble opinion) books and if this was my first foray into her writing, I wouldn’t be rushing back to read anything else. I wish I could write something more positive, so I’ll end on the locations. The descriptions of Colorado and Aspen were wonderful. They sounded like something you’d see inside a winter snow globe and the perfect place for a white Christmas in the mountains. A Wedding in December is not one of her greatest but it’s still a good read and I would still recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good romantic and Christmassy book. With thanks to NetGalley and HQ for the opportunity to read this ARC, in return for an honest and unbiased review. |

Another fantastic read by Sarah Morgan I love her books always have me engrossed look forward to read more by her. |
Rosie is getting married Christmas Eve, after mere weeks of knowing Dan, much to the surprise of her family. Katie is determined it's not going to happen, Maggie (Mum) concerned as so soon and also going through their own personal troubles, which they don't want to worry Rosie/the girls with. 'A wedding in December' is not an easy ride for any of the family. Doubts raised due to comments made, miscommunication and family secrets, raises the question will it go ahead? This book will make you smile, laugh, sad; overall a great read just in time for Christmas. A sequel would be good, would be nice to see how things work out for them. It would also make a great Christmas movie. Really enjoyed it. |

A lovely Christmas story, perfect for the festive period. The story was a little more complex than expected which made this a great read. The characters were all well fleshed out and interacted with each other perfectly. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a light and easy holiday read. |
With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an open and honest review. Maggie White was learning to live alone at Honeysuckle Cottage, after splitting up with her husband Nick six months earlier. They had two daughters Katie, a doctor in A&E and Rosie who was abroad studying at Harvard. One night she received a 3 am call from Rosie telling her she was marrying her boyfriend Dan after a whirl wind romance. Shocked Maggie found out that the wedding would be in four weeks time in Aspen, Colorado. The only problem was Maggie had not told her daughters that Dan had moved out and they were about to divorce. Not wanting to reveal the truth before the wedding, Maggie and Nick decided to pretend they were still happily married whilst in Aspen. Meanwhile Katie was suffering from depression after an incident at work. After years of hard work she had become jaded and was questioning her career as a doctor. When Katie heard that Rosie was due to marry, she thought Rosie was making a mistake and would regret it later. Katie decided she would try to stop the wedding. In Aspen, Dan`s mum Catherine was making all the arrangements for the wedding. Including virtually choosing Rosie`s dress for her. Rosie did have doubts about marrying so soon, however she knew her own parents had married young and were still together!!!!I Things do not go well for the White`s in Aspen. Maggie got drunk on the flight to calm her nerves. Once off the flight Maggie drunkenly pretended to be lovey dovey with Nick. Katie interrogated Jordan, Dan`s best friend on the way to the hotel. Catherine organised some romantic trips for Maggie and Nick to enjoy. I enjoyed the descriptions of Aspen and wished I was there. I could picture the snow and just imagine the mountain lion prowling around. The book was told from the POVs of Maggie, Katie and Rosie. I liked Maggie and I enjoyed her tipsy entrance at the airport. I was upset that Maggie lacked self confidence when Nick obviously still cared for her. Katie was hard to like but she only had Rosie`s interests at heart. The story behind Katie`s attack was so sad, not just for Katie but the victims relatives. Catherine was a force to be reckoned with and I would of liked her POV about Rosie and the rest of the family. I enjoyed this book and found it hard to put down. After reading The Christmas Sisters in 2018, Sarah Morgan will become eponymous with Christmas for me in the future. I highly recommend her books. |
A great Christmas read. Believable, likeable characters, a good amount of romance but some funny moments too like Mum getting drunk on the plane from England to America. I am not always keen on American authors, but I have read several books by this author and enjoyed them all, I will continue to look out for others for when I am in a lighthearted read mood. |

If you are on the brink.of a divorce and your headstrong daughter springs a surprise engagement to be shortly followed by a Christmas wedding at the fairytale winter playground of the rich -?what do you do? Well in this case the parents don’t want their daughters to know especially Rosie the bride and to a lesser extent Katie the hard working doctor daughter so they pretend that everything is great between them. The antics of the couple, the determination of the older sister to stop the wedding as well as the bride’s last minute worries add to the mix that brings a great novel to life |
