Another gem from Sarah Morgan, who’s writing never fails to disappoint. Take two daughters and their mother, surrounded by relationships. There’s mistrust, divorce, rushing into things and an overwhelming desire for a happy ever after... will they all find what they’re looking for? The story is warm and absorbing - a Sarah Morgan trait - and the setting is stunningly described. I didn’t want this book to end... |
Such an enchanting little love story, the narrative and dialogue of a tale of four women finding self-love. The widow, the separated housewife, the Doctor and the impetuous baby sister. The whole thing is sprinkled with the nostalgia of their White family cottage in Oxford which the reader knows is so perfect and isn’t hating that whatsoever, whilst they all experience the magic of the snowy mountains in Colorado, with a horse drawn sleigh, spectacular tree house cabins and wedding tulle. I thoroughly enjoyed this meander through their seminal life changing moments with the backdrop of my own Christmas tree, twinkling lights and roaring log fire. |
A lovely feel good Christmas novel. As always with Sarah Morgan's books you know you will have an entertaining read with a lovely ending. Beautiful location set in Aspen - this makes me want to go there for a holiday. A story of family, misunderstandings, relationships and plenty of romance. Perfect for a cosy winter afternoon on the sofa with a hot cuppa and some chocolate. I really enjoyed this book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review |
What a DELIGHT. I absolutely adored this feel good festive read. While initially I didn't particularly care for any of the characters, I was enveloped in a magical romance story and before I realised it, I had devoured the lot! Some elements were partly predictable, but I still found myself rooting for it to happen and eager for a happy ending! Full of drama, feel good fun and a total MUST READ for December. |
Thank you Netgalley for this review copy! This book was sensational! Perfect for the holiday season! It was wonderful, romantic, sweet, steamy very very cozy. The writing style was excellent, and devoured this one, If you are looking for a holiday book or for a late Christmas present this would be perfect! |
A Christmas wedding is so romantic, but Rosie's family are worried. Is Rosie rushing into a relationship impulsively as usual? Katie, the older sister believes so, and heads to Colorado to stop the wedding. Her own life is complicated, and maybe she is too conflicted to examine her motives too closely? Maggie's girls' are her life, she wants them to be happy, but can she conquer her fears to be at her daughter's side? Marriage is a touchy subject for her and Nick, their father, but only Rosie's happiness matters now. This is a festive, family drama, played out against the snowy wonderland of Aspen, Colorado. Told from Maggie, Rosie and Katie's point of view. The secrets are exposed and the hurts laid bare in this emotional story full of angst, love and tears. There are many conflicts both internal and external to be overcome by all the family's members, but the magic of Christmas, familial love and a touch of laughter and romance make anything possible in this lovely festive tale. An enchanting festive story of family, laughter, love and secrets. I received a copy of this book from HQ via NetGalley in return for an honest review. |

A lovely feel good book with lovely characters but flawed. Could visualise the beautiful location I really enjoyed reading this book |
A light, heartwarming story of family and love. The story starts when Rosie phones home to share the news with her parents and sister that she will be getting married to her very new partner that she met in America, the wedding will take place on Christmas Eve. Rosie's family have obvious concerns about the speed in which the occasion will take place but of course travel over to spend Christmas in the beautiful snowy mountains. Set in a fabulous, magical setting this book really pulls you in and with lots of stories surrounding the main characters it makes a truly brilliant read. Always enjoy Sarah Morgan's books and this one was no exception. |
Considering that I’m not a fan of Christmas or that chic lit isn’t my usual go to choice of genre I found this a pleasant and enjoyable read. I liked that the storyline had a bit of meatiness to it and it wasn’t just your stereotypical wishy washy chic lit book. I liked how humour was incorporated in the story too. A recommendation from me if you’re looking for a girly Christmas read. |
I absolutely adored this book from start to finish. This book is about a family travelling to somewhere that snows a lot for Rosie's wedding. What I loved was that this story was about so much more than that. Rosie's sister is a doctor who is sceptical about love and arrives with the intention of helping Rosie to see that the wedding is mistake whilst harbouring her own dark secret. Rosie's parents have entered a fake relationship as both their daughters do not know that they are separated. What I enjoyed the most about this book was the family dynamic. Sarah managed to capture the true Christmas spirit of love, hope, forgiveness and joy. |
I found this to be an easy and enjoyable festive read. The story is told from three different perspectives. Rosie is the bride to be, who is impulsive and the baby of the family. She’s having a whirlwind wedding to Dan after knowing him for only a few short months. Will the wedding go ahead or will Rosie’s doubts put a stop to the whole thing? Katie, the prickly older sister who is over protective, and is flying out to try to stop the wedding. She has a secret - something happened at work which she is hiding something from the rest of her family. Will she stop the wedding and will she share this secret? And there is Maggie, Rosie's mother, she has a secret of her own - she’s living a lie to her daughters as she’s not so happily married after all. Will the truth about the impending divorce come out or will Maggie and Nick manage to reignite that spark? Overall I enjoyed the story - Aspen is a really festive winter wonderland a perfect backdrop to a festive rom com read. I didn’t enjoy the American spellings of words as the main characters are English from Oxford I found this quite annoying but didn’t let it spoil the book. The plot is not complicated and at times predictable but an enjoyable cosy read perfect for the dark cold winter evenings. I was given an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. |
Sarah Morgan really is the queen of the Christmas novel and a wedding in December is defiantly one of her best stories so far. Maggie is looking forward to one last Christmas with her family in her beloved cottage before she announces to her grown up girls that she and husband nick are divorcing. Having been living apart for months neither can face telling the girls their secret. Unfortunately daughter Katie has a surprise of her own, in a late night phone call she announces she has met the love of her life and they are having a Christmas wedding at the grooms aspen family owned holiday resort - a winter wonderland. Determined not to ruin the wedding Maggie and nick decide to act as if everything is ok between them, and tell the girls after the wedding. Both parents dreading it. Also dreading it is elder sister Katie who thinks her sister is rushing into things and is determined to stop the wedding at all costs. But Katie has secrets too- as a dr working in the emergency rooms, Katie was recently attacked by a patient and is burying all her feelings about it and not facing the toll its taken on her. I loved this book and would really recommend it, its a Christmas cracker. A beautiful story set in a magical location. |
This was better than I expected, and was actually an enjoyable read, with a more complex plot and interesting characters than some of Morgan’s other books. The American setting was very cosy and the perfect backdrop for a warm winter chick-lit read. |
Lovely Christmas story for the festive period. Really feel good and warm!l and fuzzy. The characters were all well fleshed out and interacted with each other perfectly. I would recommend this to anyone who wants an easy, happy Christmas read. |
A lighthearted christmassy read that I’m sure will delight many people. However, I found it all just a bit too sickly sweet and Dan and his mother were just too perfect. |
This book was an absolute delight from start to finish. I expected several of the characters to clash and whilst some of them did, others unexpectedly got on very well and this was done in a very believable way. The story is set in a beautiful place that I wish was real so I could go visit. The ending hit all the right notes for me. This is a very satisfying and uplifting book. |

A wonderful book which I really enjoyed! Perfect Christmas story, where I loved all the sub plots running through it. They added to the confusion / misunderstanding really well!! Although I have not experienced this environment having never been skiing etc, Sarah Morgan painted the scene so well that I really felt I was there! And it sounded so perfect for the festive season - clear blue skies & crisp winter days then coming home to toasty log fires and hot chocolate! Bliss! I would thoroughly recommend this book and thank Net Galley & the publishers for allowing me to review it (apologies that the review has taken a while, but I wanted to read it nearer to Christmas to get the full enjoyment out of it!).. Right, I'm off to start another Sarah Morgan Christmas story....... where's my hot chocolate?! |
I can honestly say that one of the things I look forward to the most at Christmas is a new book by Sarah Morgan. They never fail to put me in the holiday spirit and this book is no exception. It's sweet, it's funny, it's a little bit emotional and a whole lot addictive. Yet again I read the whole thing in a couple of days and it would've been even faster if I didn't need to work. The story centers on the White family [insert your own White Christmas joke here] and is told from the point of view of mother Maggie and her two daughters Katie and Rosie. I often struggle with multiple povs and I usually have a preference for one over the others but this time around I really enjoyed it. It's great to have a book with three women at very different stages of their lives and to see the dynamics of the relationship between them from each pov. I really loved how this story brought together these very different women and it's great to see an older character given some representation. If I had to choose I probably related most to Katie but I liked all three of the women and felt invested in all of their stories. Like Morgan's other recent books this story focuses more on family and friendships than romance, making it a very sweet read that's perfect for the season. I loved the relationships between mother and daughters and also between the sisters. I also loved how each of the characters develops over the course of the story, how by getting away from everyday life they discover who they are and who they want to be. That's not to say there isn't any romance, it wouldn't be a Morgan book without a little bit of romance. Rosie is very much coupled up and Maggie is still getting over the end of a very long term relationship but sparks most definitely fly between Katie and best man Jordan and I think that was probably the highlight of the book for me. Aspen is just the perfect setting for romance and the author takes full advantage with a few of my favourite romance tropes thrown in. As always Morgan's writing is wonderfully warm and the descriptions made me feel like I was there in that winter wonderland, maybe someday. As always it's packed full of emotion and as always I shed a couple of tears at certain points (Morgan's books get me every single time). This may not be my favourite book from the author but if you're looking for a festive read to get you in the holiday spirit I highly recommend. |
I was sent a copy of this book by Netgalley in return for an honest review. I loved the look of the book, there was something magical about the cover, I chose a lot of books based on their covers and this one looked so lovely and Christmassy that I had to read it. It took some time to get into but I really enjoyed it once I did. The story is about Rosie and her family, her sister Kate and their parents. Rosie is living in the US and Katie is a A&E doctor here in England. One night Katie receives a phone call from her sister telling her she is marrying her boyfriend of a few months this coming Christmas in the US. Katie who feels that it is all too quick decides she's going to stop the wedding. Rosie parents and Katie travel to the US for the wedding, but things aren't all they seem, secrets are being kept by all members of the family and the story, however predictable is heart warming. Love blossoms between unexpected people, (though i guessed early on that it would!). The story is well written, the description of the scenes, the snow, the trees and lodges just makes you all warm and fuzzy inside. The characters are all really likeable and from the outset I wanted it to end happily. It really is a lovely Christmas read, easy going, with a few revelations hidden within. If you want a book to curl up with in front of the fire this Christmas, let it be this one. I gave it 4 stars out of 5 on Goodreads. |
This book!! Just WOW! I was lucky enough to get a pb arc as well as the netgalley link, and oh my goodness it’s such a wonderful story!! All the characters were unique, but each will have you adoring them in no time! The story flows wonderfully, and i loved seeing the different perspectives of situations, how each considered and worried about the others feelings. It’s honest, heartfelt and just such a wonderful family tale from start to very end! |
