I'm not sure how Colleen Hoover is able to rip your heart out, stab it, put a band aid on it, and then give it back to you. I'm not even going to try to describe how amazing this book is. You should just know by the author's name that this book is going to destroy you and then put you back together again.

ughh!!! This book was just- the emotion that just bursts our from the pages will capture you and never let you go.

It's like cutting the crust off a sandwich before you eat it, trimming the fat off of a big steak before enjoying the tender juicy center, or cutting away the cake to get straight to the molten chocolate in the middle. THAT is how I would describe this book. It's straight to the point and full speed ahead to all the tasty and indulging parts it has to offer. I appreciate that the author touched upon real-life issues that affect teenagers and adults. She did a flawless job at pinpointing exact reactions and emotions from her main characters (Morgan and Clara) without minimizing their feelings because of their age difference. Exceptional writing, characters you wish existed in real life (Jonah) and others that are so relatable it's scary. Twisted flashbacks and real-life, heartfelt, moments that force you to feel every emotion. Honestly, if you’ve ever been to hell and back because of love, and I mean any kind of love, this book is for you.

This book was so well written, I found that I could not put it down and I finished it in a day. At times I wanted to go through the pages and shake the characters to get them to listen to each other and to do what I thought they should be doing. I loved that this book was written in the perspective of two of the characters to give it more depth, you really felt like you were with them every step of the way. One point at the beginning I even gasped out loud because I was so shocked at a turn the book made.
I highly recommend.

I Love CoHo’s writing. I love her stories. I love her charters. Always have. But one of the things I love the most, without a doubt is her ability to somehow make you connect and feel regardless of what the plot is. You may not have experienced the same circumstances as the characters but you sure have felt the same way about someone or something at some point in your life. I think it’s how she just managers to get even the smallest of details so right you cannot fail to relate. Regretting You was absolutely no different in this.

When I originally read the synopsis for this one I was so eager to read it. Having a teenage daughter myself I knew before I even read the first word that I would find some understanding. But the plot goes beyond the mother and daughter relationship and its occasional struggles (note it was actually really great to read about a relationship that was generally loving). The plot also deals with grief, betrayal and missed opportunities in life, and of course regrets. I also really liked that Clara was generally a good kid and Morgan was a good mum. I think the different POV enabled the reader to understand both sides really well.
Also that ending was the cutest! In fact I’m gonna put this one right next to my OG favourite Ugly Love.

Finding passion in life after fulfilling everyone else’s dreams. Time to live life for herself after living through the aftermath of loss.

This is a lesson on love and the effect it has on everyone’s lives.

Overall:
Once again I find myself enraptured by the words Colleen has gifted me, the reader. Hook line and sinker, I’m so caught up in this story just like all the others she’s written before this one. I tell you this woman is gifted in the creative department. It’s no wonder she’s a best selling author. She makes reading fun and entertaining. This story is simple and easy to read, yet the emotions and feelings that it creates in me is complex and complicated. Colleen hits all the marks for what it takes to captivate her readers. For me anyway.

Colleen is really good at writing the emotional side of her characters. I’m not sure I have any heart strings left to pull after reading all her books. I can’t imagine sitting down for the first time to read one of her books then decide to read them all from start to finish. I’d be a puddle of goo after draining my life source of emotions. Yet I wouldn’t want to miss out on each one. I don’t envy anyone who hasn’t yet discovered Colleen’s books because to sit down and start from the beginning would require a bulk size box of tissues. I got a little teary eyed during the video. Sniff. Sniffle.

I see so much of Colleen’s personality shine in these characters actions and words. The scene with the picture sounded very much like something Colleen has done. I hate how Colleen has me reflecting on myself with her good hearted characters. They sicken me with there ability to have each other’s back. I’m jealous of them. It makes me want better for myself by surrounding myself with these types of individuals only I don’t know how to find them.

BTW orange isn’t the worse color. I think it’s yellow.

Favorite quote: “The search for myself is becoming my favorite part of my new journey.”

REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Regretting You by Colleen Hoover for release Dec 10, 2019

Clara wants to be the complete opposite of her predictable mother, Morgan. When her father is involved in a tragic accident, the two must overcome the heartbreak together, despite the questionable circumstances of his death. To Morgan’s horror, Clara copes with the tragedy by finding solace in calm, cool and collected Miller, who seemingly has always avoided her.

Wow. I love Colleen Hoover’s books and man, this book lived up 🙌🏼. I wasn’t sure what to expect, given I heard it was centred around a mother-daughter relationship. I don’t usually love family sagas, but the romance still brought it’s A game in a less traditional sense from both a YA and an adult perspective.

Miller and Jonah were just top notch amazing. I don’t read a lot of YA romance but I loved the dynamic between Miller and Clara as well. Their little inside jokes were so real. And let’s be honest, Gramps was the real MVP 😂

The twists and turns of the first quarter had me SHOOK. I loved how Morgan and Clara’s experiences almost mirrored each other’s. The raw and honest way their grief was portrayed was so well done.

This book was beautiful guys! Highly recommend. Special thank you to amazon, netgallet and Coho for access to this ARC!

Let me just say first, the day Regretting You was approved on my Kindle from NetGalley, it was like an early birthday surprise just for me. In life there are very few moments and treasures to enjoy for yourself, and reading Colleen’s latest book is one of them for me. Colleen’s writing always captures my full attention. Her book is centered around a mother/daughter relationship, that just shows you in more ways why we love reading her words. Not only does Colleen create a relatable story to read, she also describes the pain expressed from Clara & Morgan that’s so unimaginable to process and believe. How they cope with such a tragedy and betrayal all in one. This alone will make you cry while reading and feel for the characters with so much emotion you want to believe it’s just not true and hope for some other explanation. My curiosity is strong with this book, I find myself asking “Why,” but don’t get the answers, which is okay because the storyline doesn’t need to be explained more. I understand Morgan’s reasoning for it, as heartbreaking as it is for her.
There is one special part of the book that will stay with me for a long time. It was with Jonah & Elijah having this amazing and touching moment of bonding together as Dad and Son, as it is witnessed by Morgan & Clara. There was so much love and understanding in these moments to enjoy reading about.
Colleen Hoover has a way with words that express so much more meaning to the reader and I truly enjoy reading her books for that. I Highly Recommend Regretting You and look forward to more books by this very amazing author.

I’m a big Colleen Hoover fan, so when I got this early reading copy from Netgalley I was ecstatic.
The story centers mainly in a mother/daughter relationship, Morgan and Clara, and the struggles they endure after losing Chris, Morgan’s husband, in a tragic and questionable accident.
I went to it completely blind, I had no idea even what genre I was reading, and since the first chapters I was immersed in the story and couldn’t put the book down.
I loved this book, it was an emotional and beautiful story with Colleen’s exceptional writting style.

Every single time I read one of Colleen's books I try to guess where the story will lead, and she surprises me every dam time! I felt so much Morgan and what she was going through emotionally and mentally. My heart also broke for Clara. I just recently lost my dad about a month ago, though it wasn't even close to the same sort of circumstance, I know the pain she was feeling. This was most definitely another homerun by CoHo. Now I'll be "patiently" waiting for another book of hers to devour!

5 ⭐️ I went into this book blind because Colleen is my favorite author and I knew that no matter what she wrote I was going to absolutely love it. And wow has she done it again! This was incredibly moving to the point where it had me in tears multiple times. There’s something about her writing that is just so honest and real. She managed to capture that jumbled up feeling of loss and the way it can shake up everything you thought you knew. I related so much to Clara that at times it got scary how much of myself I saw in her.

The mother and daughter relationship was so raw and real. I loved that it wasn’t sugarcoated or glossed over. It showed that despite how mad and angry you can get, there’s nothing that breaks that bond.

What was truly incredible was how Colleen was able to capture that “first love feeling.” The way someone can make you feel everything all at once. The way it’s scary how much it can consume you, but exciting how good it feels. I can’t stress enough how much I loved this book. This definitely inches up to the top of the list for me. I 100% don’t “regret” reading this.

I give this book 3.5 stars.

As a fan of Colleen Hoover, Regretting You was a book that I definitely looking forward to reading in 2019. I love how she has romance mixed in topics that everyone can relate to.

Regretting You is all about family secrets, love, and teenage rebellion.

Chris, Morgan, Jonah and Jenny all have love secrets. Clara, the minor, is just your average teenager trying to figure out how to be viewed as an adult.

I loved how different point of views were displayed in the book. It shows readers thinking is different from reality

The author captures readers' attention by giving enough when introducing the characters. Suspense is built when an affair among the adults is brought to the light. It would have been nice to learn more about the foundation of the affair. The suspense of the affair fades and it takes place of eagerness for Clara learning the truth.

Some areas of the plot is dragged on too much and random events take away from the plot.

It doesn’t matter what genre Colleen Hoover writes, each new novel just reaffirms my affinity for her writing. Regretting You captivated me from the first to the last word. I could not put it down (I mean who needs lunch when you start the new CoHo novel anyways?!?) and felt ALL the emotions! This young adult romance novel explores the depth of love, grief and betrayal while highlighting the complexities of the mother daughter relationship all with raw honesty. My favorite book of 2019 🥰

Wow!! This is my third Colleen Hoover book and I am hooked!! CoHo has done it again...be prepared to laugh, cry and experience really everything in between. She could write the phone book and it would be un-put-down-able. This gem is about Mom, Morgan and daughter, Clare. They are living in the day-to-day safe, happy bubble of life when tragedy strikes. The roller coaster of secrets and betrayal rock their world and we get to watch helplessly as they navigate it. Morgan struggles to find her place in the world as a young mother who made choices for everyone but herself. Clare is young and sees the world through a teenager's eyes and wants to live her dreams. Teen friend Miller is a complete bright spot in the novel (although he is written with more wisdom than any 18 yr old boy I have ever met). He just makes you smile and taps into all those high school girl feels. Events in this book pack a powerful, unexpected punch and by the end of the book...you will be exhausted but satisfied. It's just one of those "I gotta know how this ends" books. A must read for 2019.

Colleen Hoover, I'd quite honestly read your grocery list at this point and know it would be a 5 star read. I swear to you, this is one versatile author - after shocking the world with Verity last December, us CoHorts have been waiting with baited breath to see what our beloved CoHo would come up with next - the answer is Regretting You - an angsty romance featuring both an adult and a teen relationship as well as the patented Hoover feel we all know and love - coupled with the mother of all shocks interspersed.

If you are a fan of Colleen's older romances, this one will definitely be up your alley. The subject matter is not quite as intense as It Ends With Us or All Your Perfects, there is less steam than Ugly Love, it is NOTHING like Verity - there's really no book to compare Regretting You to, but just to say it is absolutely wonderful in its own right and should definitely be a book to get your hands on the minute you are able to (12/10/19).

I loved this book. It may be my new favourite Colleen Hoover. I could not put it down, I was hooked from the first chapter. The pacing and flow was perfect. I am not going to repeat any of the synopsis, as I feel it does a disservice to the reader in what it reveals. Go in blind!

This book is far from a cookie cutter contemporary romance. It is about a relationship between a mother and daughter while navigating tragedy, grief, betrayal, secrets and lies. The POV alternated between mom Morgan and daughter Clara. These characters were captivating. The betrayal was jaw dropping.

Colleen Hoover can make a subject matter relatable no matter what. This book was as heartwarming as it was emotional. The blossoming love stories were a breathe of fresh air. I felt Hoover put us in the characters shoes seamlessly.

Clara (16 years old) did not read as YA to me (despite her many terrible decisions). I enjoyed reading about her and Millers newly forming relationship. Morgan (35 years old) was my favourite perspective. I loved Jonah and Elijah so much. These characters were real, flawed, and believable.

I could see this book being turned into a movie so vividly. This book is captivating, and I am already suffering from a book hangover from this one.

This book is everything I love about Colleen Hoover books!!! Wonderful characters and a story you just can't put down!!! Morgan and Chris are married and have 16 year old daughter Clara. They were high school sweethearts. When Chris is tragically killed , Morgan and Clara have to pick up the pieces. This book is told in both Morgan and Clara's perspectives and I love that as you can see what each is going through. I truly loved this book even though it is quite the emotional roller coaster! I received an advanced readers copy and all opinions are my own.

This book will hit you in the feels. For those of you with teenage daughters, you should read this book and maybe have her read it too because there's so much depth to the dynamics of Morgan (mom) and Claire (daughter). The book is written in both their POVs which was exceptional.

Morgan became a young mother, she put everything on hold to be a stay-at-home mom to Claire and devoted wife to Chris, and as Claire had put it, predictable. She was the older sister to Jenny who just had a baby a few months ago with Jonah, Chris's best friend. He left 17-years-ago.

A tragedy involving Chris and Jenny open up wounds and secrets Morgan and Jonah weren't prepared for. Claire is rebelling like she never has before, enter Miller, the boy she always had crushed on.

This story was heartfelt and heartbreaking. The angst level was high. As a mother, I wanted to shake Claire, but understood what was happening to her emotionally.

Ms. Hoover has a way to make us all take pause and feel. I haven't read a CoHo book since Hopeless, not because I didn't want to, but I knew I would be gut punched. Bravo Ms. Hoover. Another great read.

“I didn’t regret that night, and i don’t regret it now. I’m confident that I’ll never spend a single second of my life regretting you.”

Honestly i always start Colleen’s books knowing i will get blown away, and guess what? I’m always right…
She has the ability to

address topics that may seem like a meh, but when she gets to it, it goes deeper than you can ever imagine.

“Right after something tragic happens, you feel like you’ve fallen off a cliff. But after the tragedy starts to sink in, you realize you didn’t fall off a cliff. You’re on an eternal roller coaster that just reached the bottom. Now it’s gonna be up and down and upside down for a long, long time. Maybe even forever.”

The book is a dual pov, Morgan and her 17 YO daughter Clara.
So 2 completely different characters, different age and mentality, both written with extreme care, and everything was just right about them, it is truly magnificent.
The dynamic duet wa magnificent and it blew me away, that even when the characters may seem a lil bit similar, they both digested feelings and emotions way differently than eachothers, and switching between Morgan and Clara’s emotions was like going from 1st gear to fifth.

“Find something to fill all the the corners.”

The story talks about grief, ad as for me, even with the fact that i never lost anyone really close to me ( ALHAMDULELLLAHHH!), my heart broke, and was bleeding while reading parts of this emotional surgery.
What made it very realistic is that, there was no tiptoeing around a subject, no, you’d find yourself knees deep into it with no sugar quoting it.

My favorite POV was young Morgan’s pov, Morgan is the mother we had glimpsses of her younger self, and i never related to a character more than i did with hers

I should be happy right now, but something is off. I can’t put my finger on it.

But maybe because it wasn’t something personal to me, i don’t think this is my favorite book, top 3 books for me are still :

All your perfects
It ends with us
verity
I’m a work in progress. Maybe I always will be. I’m not sure I’ll ever feel like a final draft, and I’m not sure I want to. The search for myself is becoming my favorite part of my new journey.

Another amazing masterpiece by Colleen, And i can only hope to share this book with my daughter one day..

Actual rating: 3.5 rounded up to 4.
“Regretting You” by Colleen Hoover was at the top of my most anticipated releases of 2019 so of course I was super excited to get the chance to read it. One thing that I really loved about this book was that it was told in alternating POVs. It really focuses on mother-daughter relationships. Morgan is trying to find herself. She had her daughter at a young age and her desires and aspirations were offset because of this. Now that her daughter is growing older, she finds herself questioning her “why”. Clara is sixteen and an aspiring actress. She is dealing with overprotective parents as well as trying to follow her dreams, even though they don’t agree. When tragedy strikes, the lives of these two will forever be changed but will it be for the better or the worse?
I found myself really relating to Morgan. Clara was a little unlikeable, but I did have to remind myself that she was 16. ( Although, I also thought about how my own mother would have reacted if I had done half the things Clara did, lol.) The book had some huge twists. I thought the reveal was a little disappointing and certain parts dragged on a little too much. There was a perfect amount of romance. This story had many elements including heartbreak, grief, betrayal, and more. I look forward to reading more from Colleen Hoover in the future.
