it was so nice to be back in Tanglewood. It was good to explore into another character who we were introduced to last time. However, as much as i enjoyed it, i wanted more depth, i wanted to know more about the competition, not just the hot guy and his dog. Nice light hearted read, looking forward to the next one. |
Second book in this heartwarming series that always cracks me up. Funny and feeling, with a timely background on environmental issues, and very well written! In The Tanglewood Tea Shop there is a cat, in this book it is Nell, a sheepdog, that causes havoc, and if you enjoyed those two books, you are in for a treat with the third book (Wedding Shop) in which Mary the rabbit stole my heart and made me smile. Therefore, all three are on my for-a-rainy-day shelf on Goodreads. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book. |
It was lovely to be back in Tanglewood with a completely new standalone story. I have no idea if the Budding Stars competition is based on any real TV floristry competition but if it isn't i would have to see it made into a programme, as it sounds so creative compared with some of the other various TV talent shows out there! And of course I was willing Leanne on the whole time, and she comes up with some incredibly inventive ideas for her arrangements. But it is the interactions with Rex that I loved the most even if I did wish they would learn to communicate better. Rex is wonderful even if he does have a rather dog like sounding name. Thankfully he is a dog lover and seeing him bond with his new puppy Nell is delightful. Of course Leanne would have liked to have kept Nell for herself as she was born in a litter at her family's farm and she also loved that puppy, but it gave her an instant connection with Rex. I liked learning about Rex's job and his mountain rescue training too. There is just something about that man that I fell for, and really felt sorry for him when a shocking blast from his past re-entered his life. For a good amount of the book I really was wondering whether or not this would be the most shocking rom com ever with regards the ending. I really couldn't work out how it would come together for the ending I craved... but if you want to read an enjoyable story and find out for yourself then its definitely worth a read. In the meantime I'm opening up The Tanglewood Wedding Shop and going to curl up with the next book in the series, as just for once waiting to read the next book in a series seems like a silly idea, while I'm enjoying this series so much. Thank you to Canelo and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily. |
I loved returning to Tanglewood. This time reading Leannes story, who enters into a TV floristry competition, not believing she would place at all. However, she is chosen for the TV series and encounters all the stress that comes along with reality television. |
A delightful easy read which I really enjoyed. It is the second book in the series but could easily be read as a standalone novel - although I do recommend the first book Tanglewood Tea Shop too. I liked both of the lead characters and enjoyed how their relationship progressed throughout the book. The community setting was lovely. I enjoyed the twists and turns throughout the story. I recommend this light hearted cosy book - a perfect holiday read or for a cosy afternoon on the sofa. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review |
A fun, light hearted read which I really enjoyed - however there is the odd somber moment, mascara warning! Fresh new characters mixing in with characters of the previous book. Stand alone read in itself it leaves you with a lovely warm glow about your person. I can’t wait to meet Leanne and Rex again. Great book, very entertaining. Thank you Netgalley |

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. Loved this feel good book and all the characters in Tanglewood. I have ordered the first book in the series. |
This is by no means a terrible book, but I couldn't finish it and had to put it down about halfway through because of a major problem I had with it: namely, the 'neither love interest realizes how the other one feels about them' trope. This was made even worse by the fact that this novel was narrated from the perspective of both parties involved. Reading about the guy moaning about how the girl doesn't love him and then the same from the girl's point of view got old pretty fast, not to mention the fact that they kept doing this despite the very obvious signs that it was not in fact so. But then again, you might be completely OK with this trope and end up loving this book. I have my fair share of favorite clichés and tropes that I swear by when it comes to women's fiction. It just so happens that this is not one of them. What I liked: the cozy village of Tanglewood, Rex (when he wasn't moaning about Leanne not fancying him), the portrayal of farm and dog life, the flower competition. Quite a lot, in fact, but still, the trope poisoned it all for me as it truly is one of my pet peeves. |
Leichtfüssig, wie man Lilas Mills kennt: ein bisschen was fürs Herz, ein bisschen was für die Lachmuskeln. Leichte Kost, aber nett zu lesen - feel good Buch. |
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. This was a pleasant and easy read, it didn’t matter that I hadn’t read the first book because the author covered enough to understand what had happened. I loved the main character in this book, she is likeable and relatable. This is my first read by this author but it definitely won’t be the last. |
A lovely little story that made me wish there really was a p!ace called Tanglewood. The story had me holding my breath and wanting to shout 'get on with it' but I guess that was the beauty of the story. Both main charge clearly meant to be together. |

A lovely, fun read with a great storyline and likeable characters. Love the cover artwork as well, if helps bring the novel to life. |
Enjoyed the book. Loved Leannne. I would have loved to read more about the show and the tasks for each round. I don't think I even remember any of the people (judges or contestants) from Budding Stars beside Jarred. I thought the book would be more about Leanne completing on the reality show. Stevie, Tia, Cassandra and Betty all make appearances. Betty is still up to her matchmaking practices. Betty tells it like she sees it. Leanne and Rex definitely needed help. Although, half (OK all) their problems were due to lack of communication. they never talked to each other. Rex could have told Leanne what was happening in his life, then she wouldn't have jumped to the wrong conclusions. Dean and Jules didn't come as much as a shock. Why didn't Jules tell Rex right away? Loved all the flower descriptions and the adorable Nell. Definitely recommend the book and the previous one. The Tanglewood Village Series are a fun read. I love the characters, story and writing style. I feel like Leanne and Stevie would be the perfect friends to have. Hopefully there is another book in the series. I want to read about the weddings and catch up with all the couples. I love the cover of the book!!! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Canelo through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. |
A great fun, quick read that made me happy. Leanne and her flower shop, friends and family were great characters and I enjoyed reading about her adventure to chose between her career and love. I'll definitely be picking up the other titles in the series to read more from this author! Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this title in exchange for an honest review. |

The latest in the Tanglewood series by Lilac Mills does not disappoint. Another heartwarming tale with a difference, another romance. Lovely. |
