A fun holiday novel by Kitty Wilson. The Cornish Village School - Christmas Wishes make you think you are actually there along with the characters as the story unfolds.

Synopsis:
Teaching assistant Alice has sworn off men, which is fine because with Christmas coming she’s super busy organising the school Nativity. This should be a blast with the help of best friend and village vicar, Dan – if she can just ignore those more-than-just-a-friend feelings she’s developed for him…

Dan is more than happy to help Alice – his secret crush – but not only is his beloved Granny Annie about to be made homeless, the church choir has disintegrated and he’s battling some dark demons from his past.

I very much enjoyed this book. It has a good story and excellent main characters. I would definately recommend this book.

It's Alice's turn to do the nativity play at the Penmenna village school, and after last year's disaster it can only be good, especially with the help of Dan the gorgeous vicar....... if only Alice could stop thinking of him as more than a friend! Dan has the problem of his beloved grandmother being made homeless just before Christmas and so he moves her into the vicarage...... if only she would stop trying to interfere in his love life!

Another lovely story in this series and great to be back in Penmenna catching up with characters from the previous stories. A lightheated warm book that draws you in and leaves you with a happy feeling, perfect for curling up and reading in one session

The Cornish Village School - Christmas Wishes was the 4th book in the series and like the last three books this was a great read. Read in one sitting I was hooked back in Penmenna. Looking forward to the next books.

Alice is a teaching assistant in Penmenna village school and this year she’s given the job of organising the class four nativity play. Determined to make it the best one, or at least better than the one from last year with the earth giving birth, she loops her best friend Dan, who is a village vicar, to help her. Actually, Alice would love to be more than friends with Dan, however she’s so unsure of herself, she can’t see why any man would be interested in her, and there were some bad experienced for her in the past and Dan, well, Dan has some reasons as well to hide his feelings.

One of the biggest strength of the book are for sure the characters. The cast is simply brilliant, living and breathing, with flaws and troubles. Dan was a perfect vicar, so very un – vicar like, which only made him even better. His background was really heart – breaking and you could really understand all his commitment issues. But Marion Markshot must have been the best character ever, oh my god, so fierce and so vulnerable, I loved her and her ways, and I really wouldn’t like to have her as a fiend. And really, you can say whatever you want, that she was cruel, self – obsessed, whatever, but oh my, I so fell for her! Because no matter what, the characters felt human and true to life, finding themselves in a position of having to go on, to get on with things, just like we are. And Alice, the lovely, kind and full of energy Alice, so unsure of herself, not realising how great she is – she was a fantastic leading character.

What I also adored is that the series centres around school and teaching. And even though I’m now working in kindergarten and not at school, once a teacher, always a teacher and I like stories set at school, especially such lovely ones. I loved Alice around her pupils and I loved her approach to the organization of the Nativity Christmas Play, she’s truly the right person in the right place, her love to her job shines through the pages.

I adored this book, I really did, but what annoyed me a bit was the fact that you actually knew, from the very beginning, how it’s going to end (I know, I know, everybody hates this sentence) and it simply felt too long, no matter how entertaining, to come to the final conclusion. I mean, there were almost no obstacles, no challenges and the will they/will they/oh yes they will was too long. It just felt, I don’t know, too wordy, as if it has lost its track from time to time.

But altogether, it was a hilariously funny and also wise and heart – warming read with incredibly vivid and lively characters with intelligent and sharp sense of humour. I have only read the third instalment in the series before – sadly, it’s a huge mistake, really, because the books are so, so entertaining! “Christmas Wishes” is full of mishaps, family, friendship and love, beautifully balancing humour with poignant scenes. The banter, and there is a lot of banter in this book, is humorous, witty, sharp and quick and there is a huge amount of lovely romance, of letting go of the past and moving forward, and it is already filled with festive spirit. Hugely recommended!

I had a bit of a hard time with this title at times, feeling that it lost its way with being a bit too wordy at times? Overall the story was cute, and I especially enjoyed the nativity bits.

A cute Christmas book with an awesome festive feel. I love books about Christmas and this one ticked all the boxes. Cute, sweet and Christmassy. Perfect for the season!

The best of the four book series. Heart warming and funny with a cast of well known and loveable characters but also some new faces. Fourth in the series but also can be read as a stand alone book. Highly enjoyable with a fair tug of the heartstrings included. Alice and Dan are a joy throughout.

A feel good festive read. I always enjoy the cornish village school books and this one did not disappoint. It had great characters and a wonderful setting. 4.5 stars.

Delightful English Christmas Romance

What a charming and well-done Christmas romance! This is the fourth book of the series, but the first book that I have read by this author. It's a delight to find a writer who knows how to compose both very funny scenes and extremely poignant ones. That's all too rare to find an author who does both well, unfortunately. The first scene, when we discover what is in octogenarian Ethel’s basement, had me laughing out loud. The scene near the end—where Granny Annie helps Dan, the hero, put his life into perspective in the way that only a loving relative with long experience in life can—definitely brought the feels. If only we were all so blessed to have someone like her in our lives. I really enjoyed the dialogue in this book, and the book had a lot of dialogue. I particularly liked the conversations between Dan and Alice. They were so humorous at the beginning but became so much more complex and character revealing as the novel went on. Let's just say that both Alice and Dan have issues to be resolved if they are to become a couple, moving beyond their obvious friendship. They do have a chemistry that comes off the page. They are definitely a romance couple you can root for. I enjoyed the other community members in the story. I usually associate good, quirky, and believable characters with cozy mysteries, so it is lovely to see that in a small-town romance. If you're looking for a good and immersive Christmas romance read, this one may do the trick.

How sweet are Dan and Alice and how clearly made for each other are they? Apart from the fact they don't realise they each have a crush on each other, and Dan especially is hiding things from his past that are affecting his decisions about future relationships.

This is the book where we discover whether Dan and Alice finally move their friendship to the next level. But in between all of that, we also get to see a hidden side to many of the other residents of Penmerra, such as Ethel, and beneath the surface of Marion.

I loved Alice's approach to the school's nativity, in giving the power and responsibility to the children, with very little adult interference. It was a lovely process to see and I couldn't help but smile at the overall show. Alice is also determined to make sure there is a choir still in place for the Christingle service, which was a really touching moment too.

It was so much fun to be back amongst this school in Cornwall, catching up with characters from the previous books, although this can easily be read as a standalone, Everything about this setting, the characters, the writing just speaks to me and its a series, and book that I was am thoroughly enjoying.

One of those small touches that kept me amused throughout where all the different things that Alice called Dan's cat, Dave, who I have to say is not the most adorable of cats.

Cornwall and Christmas just seem to go hand in hand, and this was no exception, another wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable story in this series, that I hope never ends.

I have loved all this series, with its cast of credible characters, all with their own stories to tell. In this Christmas story, we are plunged into the preparations in the Autumn Term for Christmas celebrations. Alice and Dan’s story is the focus and they are such a delightful, well suited pair that you hope desperately that they will overcome their issues from the past. Dan’s relationship with his grandmother, Annie and her friendship with Ethel is a lovely touch and as for the ending- no spoilers but it is the perfect finish. Five stars from me.

This year Alice has been left in charge of producing the schools Christmas nativity concert. Dan has graciously offered to help.

Will the magic of Christmas sprinkle these two with love and glitter? It certainly will if Dan’s Gran Annie has anything to do with it.

I adore this book series and I think this one is my favourite. A lovely, joyful, sweet romance.

what does the Autumn school term and a primary school bring to mind, yes Christmas.This tale has it all. All the emotions but with a lovely story line making for a fantastic read. I can highly recommend this and am giving it 5 stars. Get out and get a copy you will love it.

Loved this book. Great characters, easy read, uplifting, funny, romantic and charming. A really nice story that is the perfect escapist read.
